The UNESCO 'World Heritage' designation, which recognises the exceptional universal values of a site, is meant to draw proper consideration to them and the need to protect them.
Among the other new places on the UNESCO list are the subterranean mines in Tarnowskie Gory in Poland, Ahmedabad city of India, the historic city of Yazd in Iran, Japan's sacred and the limited-access Isle of Okinoshima and Los Alerces National Park in Argentina.
