Second Phase  

 Voting is under way for the second phase of Kerala local body elections in the five southern districts -- Ernakulam, Kottayam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Wayanad.

The second phase of the Malabar 2020 is underway in the North Arabian Sea. Malabar 2020 is a continuing series of exercises that has grown in scope and complexity over the years to address the variety of shared threats to maritime security in the Indo-Pacific. The multilateral exercise involving Australia, India, Japan and the United States shows the 'Quad' resolve to maintain and strengthen a free and open Indo-Pacific. Phase II includes a variety of high-end tactical training including night operations, Replenishment at Sea (RAS) approaches, and gunnery exercises.

The second phase of Exercise Malabar 2020 is underway in the Northern Arabian Sea.

 The first phase of the Malabar 2020 was held earlier this month off the Visakhapatnam coast. Australia participated in the mega exercise for the first time in 13 years, bringing all four Quad countries together for the military games.

Phase 1 of the 24th multinational maritime exercise Malabar, involving the Indian Navy, US Navy, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and Royal Australian Navy, concluded on Friday. The exercise witnessed live weapon firings, surface, anti-air, and anti-submarine warfare drills, joint manoeuvres and tactical procedures leading up to a culmination with advanced War-at-Sea exercise. While the first phase of Malabar 2020 was conducted in the Bay of Bengal, the second phase will be conducted in the Arabian Sea on November 20. Deputy director of Kerala Tourism said that after successful completion of the first phase of its domestic marketing campaign,  Kerala Tourism will kick off the second phase with a string of partnerships organised by ten Indian cities.

Key leaders contesting in the second phase of polling in Jharkhand include chief minister Raghubar Das from Jamshedpur (East) seat, state Assembly speaker Dinesh Oraon and BJP state unit chief Laxman Guila

The first phase of election in the state had concluded on November 30. Today (December 7) is the second phase. Voting for the third phase will be conducted on December 12. The results will be declared on December 23

A total of 260 candidates are contesting including 29 women in the second phase of Jharkhand Assembly election. Sixteen of the 20 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) and one for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates

The accused would be taken for evidence collection only after preliminary questioning. If the court grants custody, then the Crime Branch would begin the second phase of the investigation in the Kerala serial murder case
