Lesser known facts on Sabarimala temple
Sabarimala is the second largest pilgrim centre in Asia. The temple situated in the midst of pudgy forest is now open for devotees and the period from November to January is called as Mandalakalam. The hill abode is surrounded by 18 hills and a hard trek through dense forest is needed to reach the temple. The shrine located at the hill top is called Sannidhanam while the route to the temple, consisting of dense forest and river, is called Poonkavanam or Lord's garden.There are several mysteries associated with this temple.
