Rapid COVID-19 test performed in Purulia before Durga puja
The West Bengal government in their report has made an assumption that the number of COVID cases may increase after Durga Puja. Therefore, District Magistrate of Purulia has found out all the places where public gatherings are most frequent. COVID tests were done at those places. However, the reports came mostly negative.

Doctors and health experts of Kolkata are worried about a surge in Covid-19 cases after Durga puja. On October 7, a doctors’ organisation named Joint Platform of Doctors wrote a letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, citing the case spike in Kerala and Maharashtra after Onam and Ganesh Chaturthi. The doctors urged Mamata Banerjee to implement strict measures to prevent public gatherings during Durga Puja.

Karnataka government bans public gatherings as COVID-19 cases spike
The state government of Karnataka has banned religious and other public gatherings across the state, as there has been a spurt in COVID-19 cases. Medical education minister Dr K Sudhakar made the announcement on Tuesday mentioning that the government plans to organise awareness programmes.
