The Union Road Transport Ministry has extended the validity of vehicular documents like driving licences, registration certificates and permits till March 31, 2021.

The BBMP on Saturday issued show-cause notices under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (KPME) Act to the seven hospitals seeking a response on the matter, failing which their licenses shall be suspended invoking Section 15 of the KPME Act

The Karnataka Transport Department has issued a circular to all the regional transport offices to suspend the driving licenses of riders without helmets for a minimum period of three months.

CM Kumaraswamy took to Twitter to clarify his stand on licenses to new liquor shops and said that the news is fake. When I was the Chief Minister in 2006, I had banned lottery and country liquor in the state. So, how can one even come to a conclusion that I will give direction to open new liquor shops, he questioned.

During Siddaramaiah's regime as chief minister, his announcement of issuing licenses to open 1000 new bars met with severe criticisms. Following this, the Karnataka government then dropped the plan.

State government took the decision to extend liquor license by three months at a special cabinet meeting 

BBMP's replies to RTIs showed that there were 33,986 commercial establishments licensed by the Palike for 2016- 17. However, BESCOM showed there were 6,15,509 commercial power installations in the Bengaluru Metropolitan Area

As per the regulation the lodges that are located in the city limits should have minimum 30 beds to apply for liquor license. However as per the notification of the government, this regulation is not applicable for the lodges that are owned by SC/STs.

The decision was taken in view of the gruesome killing of a 65-year-old woman, who was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs
