    Karnataka minister's humane act wins hearts, hands over Rs 1L cheque to accident victim

    After learning about a government school student meeting with an accident and gaining treatment at NIMHANS for her injuries, Education Minister S Suresh Kumar paid a surprise visit and handed over a cheque of 1 lakh to the girl.

    Yashyesvini was heading to appear for an exam and was hit by a KSRTC bus, she was immediately rushed to the hospital. Amidst the ongoing session, the Minister took time to come and meet the family.

    Upon the request from the girl that the minister should visit her school, Suresh Kumar assured that, once she recovers and goes to school, he would visit.

    The girl's father is a security guard at a private firm and the family is facing difficulty. After learning about this fact, the minister decided to give a cheque from his department for treatment and also assured all the help.

    Karnataka government develops Nirbhaya app for women travelling in KSRTC buses

    Karnataka government on Thursday has approved the development of a safety app for women travelling in KSRTC buses. The app will include a panic button, GPS tracking system for buses, detailed information on bus schedules and information on 500 bus stops across the state.

    Impressed by women’s bus toilet Ti, KSRTC converts old bus into Sthree toilet

    The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has lifted the concept of Pune's Ti women bus toilet and converted its old bus into toilets, naming it Sthree toilet. A scrapped bus was converted into a toilet at the cost of Rs 12 lakh, which was paid by Bengaluru International Airport Authority as part of their CSR initiative.

    The bus has five toilets, three Indian and two western style installations. It also has an incinerator and a sanitary napkin vending machine. The bus makes use of self-generated power through solar. The bus has solar sensor lights, hand wash basin, baby feeding and baby diaper changing area. The bus will be moved to Kempegowda Bus Terminal-1 for public use.

    Van escorting Bengaluru riots accused breaks down; policemen push vehicle

    Bengaluru: A police van which was supposed to escort the KSRTC buses that carried the Bengaluru riots accused from Bengaluru to Ballari, broke down. The policemen in uniform were seen pushing the van. In connection with the Bengaluru east violence, 80 accused persons were shifted from Bengaluru to Ballari on Thursday (August 13) and remanded in 15-day judicial custody.

    Ballari: All 80 Bengaluru riots accused test negative for COVID-19

    Ballari (Karnataka): All the 80 Bengaluru violence accused have tested negative for the coronavirus (COVID 19) and will be housed in different cells in Ballari. The accused were taken to jail from Bengaluru late night on Thursday (August 13) and reached Ballari's central prison at 6:15 am on Friday. Police took the accused in two KSRTC buses. The decision was taken to shift to Ballari from Bengaluru to avoid any further violence in Bengaluru east.

    Bengaluru violence: 80 accused persons shifted to Ballari jail

    Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Police shifted the 80 arrested persons in connection with Bengaluru violence to Ballari jail following 15 days of judicial custody.

    The accused were taken to Ballari in the night to avoid any further violence. The accused were taken in KSRTC buses.

    On Wednesday morning (August 12), police arrested about 150 people and 80 were remanded in judicial custody. All the accused persons were produced before a magistrate via video conference.

    Bengaluru’s KG Halli, DJ Halli and Kaval Byrasandra saw riots after Congress MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy’s nephew P Naveen posted a derogatory social media post. The MLA’s house was vandalised and burnt down. Also, a police station was vandalised. Many including police personnel were injured in the violence on Tuesday evening (August 11).
