In the first phase of voting in the maiden elections in Jammu and Kashmir since its reorganisation, 51.6% per cent of the electorate exercised their franchise.

Two Indian Army jawans who were part of a road opening party were killed in a terrorist attack in the outskirts of Srinagar on Thursday.

The joint operation was launched based on J&K Police inputs on Tuesday evening.

 As per the notification, no domicile or permanent resident certificate is required for purchasing non-agricultural land in Jammu and Kashmir. 

Pakistan Govt has reportedly readied a plan to expand reach of its mobile coverage in Jammu and Kashmir. A report published in Hindustan Times said that the move is to neutralise the impact of a future communication blockade imposed by the Govt. The report adds the plan to tweak existing telecom towers and build new ones has been in the works for about a year.
