The Dakshineswar temple in Kolkata will remain open from 7 am on Saturday (November 14) to 3.30 am on Sunday (November 15) for Kali Puja. Devotees will have to follow the protocols on masks, sanitization, and maintaining social distance.
 

The West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) along with state police will take strict action against any person found bursting firecrackers during Kali Puja and Diwali this year. The violator could get a maximum jail term of five years and be fined up to Rs 1 lakh.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday (November 11) refused to interfere with the Calcutta High Court order banning the use and sale of firecrackers in West Bengal during Diwali, Chhath Puja, and Kali Puja. 
 

The Calcutta High Court has issued an order that says that bursting firecrackers during Diwali or Kali Puja will straightaway lead to penal action. The court furthermore informed that anyone who will be found using, selling, buying or bursting firecrackers will have to face serious penal consequences, including a six-month jail term.
 

The Calcutta High Court on Thursday (November 5) declared Kali Puja, Jagadhatri Puja, and Kartik puja pandals as ‘no-entry’ zones for visitors. The court also ordered a ban on bursting of all kinds of crackers or fireworks for the festivities. 
 

The West Bengal government on Tuesday (November 3) appealed to the people of the state to avoid bursting firecrackers during the upcoming Kali Puja and Diwali festivals in order to check air pollution and prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection.
 

Two public interest litigations were filed on Tuesday, urging to make all Kali Puja, Jagaddhatri Puja and Kartik Puja pandals no-entry zones and seeking a complete ban on fireworks during Kali puja and Diwali. The case is likely to be heard by a division bench of the chief justice on Thursday (November 5).
