With hopes of winning the Mahalakshmi Layout, Yeshwanthpur and Shivajinagar Assembly segments in Bengaluru in the Karnataka by-elections, the JD(S) is now off Bengaluru. In 2018, the lone JD(S) MLA K Gopalaiah had won from Mahalakshmi Layout. After he jumped ship to the BJP, the regional party seems to be at the brink of extinction in Bengaluru.

The claims of city MLAs who were disqualified for not cooperating with the coalition government for lack of funds stand exposed as BJP leader NR Ramesh has furnished documents saying that in the last five years, Yeshwanthpur, RR Nagar, KR Puram and Mahalakshmipuram received over 5,000 crores as funds. Congress says the MLAs lied and used this claim to defame the previous government.
