Chief minister Mamata Banerjee had announced that IT professionals would be hired directly afresh by her government on contract basis. Until now, they were employed by private agencies for providing digital soultions to the government. The chief minister made this announcement to offer a special 'Durga Puja gift' to techies in the state.
 

According to a survey, Bengaluru tops the list of Indian cities for IT professions to work. Hyderabad is second followed by Pune

The plan to open pubs in the state came after Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan received a complaint that professionals in sectors such as IT, who work late hours, do not have enough opportunities for entertainment in the state

A number of Indian companies have their offices in Singapore including TCS, Wipro, Infosys and many others. The blocking of visa will force these companies to hire local talents. However, this may also drive the companies out of this sovereign city-state.  

McKinsey & Company report presented at the Nasscom India Leadership Forum emphasised on re-skilling of the workforce and facilitating digital transformation to maintain relevancy.
