Delhi Capitals came up with their best-ever season performance since they have finished as the runners-up of the tournament for the first time. They had previously concluded second in the points table, next to table-toppers and eventual champions Mumbai Indians.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have finished in the third spot this season, as they were knocked out in Qualifier 2. They are the former champions, having won the title in 2016, under the leadership of David Warner. Despite missing out the final spot, they have managed to finish on a high.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) yet again had to depart without any IPL title this season. The team managed to reach the playoffs by a narrow margin, but couldn't make the most of the opportunity. As they ended at fourth spot in the points table, we analyze their performance this season.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) hit rock bottom of the table after they completed their league matches. They have lifted the trophy just once, which was way back in 2008 but have been seen struggling in the seasons that followed. They are led by Australian skipper Steve Smith.

Kolkata Knight Riders managed to finish in the fifth spot, as they won and lost seven each from 14. They are the former two-time champions of the tournament, while their last win came in 2014. All of their title wins have come under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir.

Kings XI Punjab had a moderate season, as they managed to win six matches, besides losing eight, while they could manage to finish in the sixth spot. Being led by KL Rahul, this was his first stint as a captain in the Indian Premier League. They are yet to win the title to date.

Chennai Super Kings came up with the worst performance of their life, as they finished at the seventh spot. This became the first season where the side failed to make it to the playoffs. They have won the title on three occasions, all under the leadership of MS Dhoni.

Chennai Super Kings are off to a horror start in the Indian Premier League this season, as they have lost five of their matches in the opening seven games. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals are off to a fine start, having lost just two games so far, as they are in pursuit of their maiden title.
