Andhra Pradesh High Court judge Justice Lalitha Kanneganti urged women lawyers to accept and fight the challenges that came their way. "You need to do that to succeed in this male-dominated profession," she said.

The 'advice' comes barely days after villages in district took a landmark step to promote gender equality which saw over 200 houses installing nameplates with names of women family members.

"India elected Member of Commission on Status of Women. It’s a ringing endorsement of our commitment to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in all our endeavours," TS Tirumurti said.
 

According to experts, we are currently experiencing the biggest setback in gender equality for a generation and the longer-term impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will not be equal for women and men.
