Gas Leak  

The contract workers took ill after inhaling toxic gas this morning after which they were rushed to the Ispat General Hospital.

The night of December 2nd, 1984, will remain etched in our country’s memory. On that horrific night, deadly methyl isocyanate gas leaked from the Union Carbide India Limited pesticide plant in Bhopal, claiming over 20,000 lives and leaving lakhs severely disabled. Abdul Jabbar, who was 28 then, lost his mother, father, brother and himself suffered lung fibrosis and lost 50% of his vision. On November 14, 2019, he passed away after fighting for justice for the victims and survivors for close to 3 decades. With the government of India awarding this Bhopal gas tragedy activist the Padma Shri posthumously, let’s take a look at his lesser-known story.

Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy has spoken with the Chittoor District Collector and ordered an inquiry into the incident. He gave directions to better treatment to the affected people.

The gas smell sent panic waves in certain areas on late Thursday night. Many people rushed out of their houses and were seen heading to safer places by their vehicles.
 

After visiting the sick in the hospital and taking stock of the situation, Andhra Pradesh chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy said, "If necessary, will shift LG Polymers plant from Gopalapatnam”

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy received a phone call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi where details of the incident and steps being taken to tide over the crisis were discussed 

The Vizag factory was trying to open post lockdown when the incident occurred, DG NDRF said.
