A Bengali television actor has been arrested for allegedly stealing cash and firearms from a businessman’s residence in Panchasayar police station area. Investigation is still on and the officers are trying to find out whether others are involved in this case.

Sikh community in Kolkata came out in support of Balwinder and staged a silent demonstration at Sant Kutiya Gurudwara, Bhawanipur, in protest against the incident.

West Bengal police counter Sikh's claim on turban removal during scuffle
A major row erupted in West Bengal after a video of the police removing the turban of a Sikh man during a Bharatiya Janata Party rally in Howrah on October 8 was widely shared on social media. Issuing a statement, the police claimed that the person was carrying a firearm and that his headgear 'had fallen off automatically in the scuffle that ensued'.

BJP’s 'Nabanna Chalo' March: Firearms recovered from BJP worker in Howrah Maidan
The BJP's Nabanna campaign rally started on Thursday (October 8) afternoon. BJP workers and supporters from different districts started coming to Howrah from Wednesday (October 7) night. Things turned feisty as BJP workers tried to breakdown the barrier put in place by the West Bengal Police. Meanwhile, firearms were reportedly recovered from a BJP worker at Howrah Maidan. Sounds of crude bombs were also heard as supporters clashed with the police. The CRPF’s Rapid Action Force was also present at the spot.

Eight inter-state gangs arrested, firearms, cash seized
The eight-member inter-state armed robbers was arrested by Central Crime Branch on April 7 near BDA Complex at RT Nagar when they came to sell the two country-made pistols, live cartridges, air gun and chloroform. The police say the accused also used to cheat people in the name of 'rice pulling' copper bowl for fortune and waylaid their victims at gunpoint.
