Bengaluru: As COVID-19 spreads, BBMP runs campaign to kill larvae before dengue bomb explodes
With rains comes reason for viruses like dengue to spread. The BBMP, in advance, has taken measures to contain the spread. Health officials have been given instructions to spray chemicals at low lying areas and drains where mosquitoes breed.

Bracing for monsoon hit: Authorities clear drains in flood-prone areas, remove 400 uprooted trees in Bengaluru
An emergency meeting of top officials of the BBMP, BESCOM, BWSSB, Disaster Management Authority among others took place to brief minister R Ashoka about their preparedness to deal with the monsoon mayhem. The team has identified over 200 flood prone areas and cleared 468 uprooted trees and branches in the last five days.

Bengaluru rains: Residents regret decision of voting for unresponsive public representatives
A deluge of problems returned with heavy rains in Bengaluru's LB Shastrinagar. The October 2 rain flooded roads, drains and homes. Residents had to spend the night displacing dirty water from their homes and water storage tanks. PubliCity: BBMP, BWSSB go underground; trees to fall flat, say experts
The Rs 80 crore worth development project in Koramangala comes with an additional cost of huge trees. Though the BBMP may not be cutting roots directly, but its digging and underground operations have led to damaged roots and may result in uprooting of about 50 trees anytime.

Karnataka high court to BBMP: Install CCTV cameras around lakes, bring redressal system into force within 6 months
The high court directed the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike to see to it that storm water drains are not encroached upon. The next hearing has been scheduled for August 5.
