Child Sexual Abuse  

The Central Bureau of Investigation's special unit handling online child sexual abuse has arrested a junior engineer of Uttar Pradesh irrigation department who allegedly sexually exploited about 50 children in the age group of 5-16 years across three districts.

As per the data released by National Crime Records Bureau, in 2015, 96 reports of children being sexually exploited via online imagery were recorded in India which is a 140 percent rise from the data of previous year. 

Apart from sexual abuse cases, six murder cases have also been reported from the district in the same period.

A 33-year-old Navy officer has been sentenced to a two-year prison term for threatening a 16-year-old girl with rape for refusing his proposal.

The police have registered a case against a Varkala native, after his neighbours accused him of sexually abusing their four-year-old daughter.

After the recent incident of a molestation of a three-year-old by non-teaching staff in a preschool, East Bengaluru residents gathered near HAL police station and demanded strict action and speedy trial.
