Border Dispute  

The rice imports come despite political tensions over a border dispute in the Himalayas which erupted into a clash in June in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed.

The 50-year-old tension along the Assam-Mizoram border over land encroachment claims has escalated, leading to the possibility of deployment of central forces there.

Participating in the annual Dussehra function at RSS headquarters in Nagpur, Bhagwat said: "Many noteworthy incidents such as abrogation of Article 370 following due parliamentary procedures, Bhoomipujan for grand Ram Mandir based on Supreme Court's unambiguous judgment and the lawful passage of CAA took place during the last year."

Russia has said that both India and China have indicated that they don’t want to escalate tensions at the border.
