Rashtriya Janata Dal's ties with the Congress seem to have gone cold in the aftermath of the Mahagathbandhan's defeat in the Bihar elections. An indication of this came from RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari who lashed out at Rahul Gandhi on Saturday.

The season of discontent is back to haunt the the Congress party once again. Ever since the grand old party was humiliated in the Bihar elections and in the bye-elections, a lew of senior leaders have taken on the high command seeking accountability. First to fire the salvo was Kapil Sibal, and the latest is Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son flew down to Goa on Friday after doctors advised the former to shift out of the national capital in view of the heavy pollution and poor air quality that has aggravated her chest infection.

The Congress party has conceded that bad planning and late selection of candidates were among the reasons why the grand old party failed in the Bihar election. But in the process, the party is shying away at seeking accountability from the leadership. In fact, a section of the party chooses to shield the Gandhi family and blame the organisational cadre for the shocking defeat. 

 

Alleging foul play in the just-concluded Bihar elections 2020, Tejashwi had demanded recounting of the postal ballot votes in all those constituencies where they were counted at the end.

While BJP performed a stellar role in NDA's victory winning 72 seats, RJD also gave a spectacular performance by bagging 75 seats and emerged as the single largest party in the 243-member Bihar legislative assembly.
 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that "Every voter in Bihar has clearly stated that his priority is only and only development."
 

The BJP put up a winning performance in the Bihar Assembly polls leading the ruling NDA to obtain majority, however RJD put up a tough fight but were pulled down by Congress’ dismal show.

The NDA maintained an edge over the RJD-led Grand Alliance as counting progressed slowly in Bihar. With more than two third of the votes still to be counted, and the margin of lead being less than 1,000 in about a score of seats, the game is still wide open.
