In a historic moment for Kho Kho, Sarika Kale from Osmanabad, Maharashtra, was today awarded the prestigious Arjuna Award for 2020 in a virtual ceremony. This is the first time in 22 years that a Kho Kho player is receiving the Arjuna Award. However, Sarika's journey was not an easy one. In an interview Sarika said, "Though I have been named for the Arjuna Award this year, I still remember the days of playing Kho Kho. I had only one-meal a day for almost a decade."

Bengaluru: Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) in the UAE, Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma has been chosen for the prestigious Khel Ratna Award for the year 2020, the highest sporting honour in the country. He is the fourth cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar (1997-98), MS Dhoni (2007) and Virat Kohli (2018) to get the honour. Along with Rohit, para athlete Mariyappan Thangavelu, table tennis star Manika Batra, wrestler Vinesh Phogat and Indian women's hockey team captain Rani will get the Khel Ratna. Also, all the National Sports Awards were announced on Friday (August 21).
