Health Minister K Sudhakar on Friday stated that healthcare workers including doctors, nurses and paramedics ANMs, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, medical officers, scientists, and research staff and all those working in the healthcare sector would be the first to get vaccinated for COVID-19 immunity in Karnataka.

Anganwadi workers have finally won their battle. Their demand to hike the honorarium amount was met with approval when Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held a meeting at Vidhana Soudha on Monday.

Over 10,000 Anganwadi workers spent over 4 days in the blistering heat trying to make their demands heard. Ultimately, the administration caved in and it all happened because of the courage and determination of one woman – Varalakshmi.

More than 10,000 women who came from all over Karnataka to Bengaluru and staged protest day and night on the road without proper food and clothes for four days have at last withdrawn their protest as the government has promised to fulfil their demands.

Even though the CM has said that the government wants to help the workers, it has refused to give an assurance citing the model code of conduct enforced until the completion of byelections in Nanjangud and Gundlupet.
