Among the numerous surprises in India's T20 World Cup roster announcement was the choice of MS Dhoni as the team's manager for the multi-nation competition, which begins on October 17. The former captain, who guided India to victory in the first T20 World Cup in 2007, will work in the UAE with Ravi Shastri's support team and skipper Virat Kohli.

Jay Shah made it clear that MS Dhoni's role is only for the T20 World Cup. The BCCI secretary went on to say that the decision was discussed with Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri before becoming official on September 8.

Taking to Twitter, Jay Shah said, "I am pleased that MS has accepted this opportunity and is eager to rejoin our national squad. MS Dhoni would collaborate closely with Ravi Shastri and the other support personnel to assist Team India."
