AIIMS sanctioned for Tamil Nadu, Madurai finalised

A team from the centre came to investigate five locations in Tamil Nadu to set up AIIMS, and finally, they came up with Thoppur, Madurai. CM K Palaniswami said the reports of this sanction are sent to the health secretary.

AIIMS sanctioned for Tamil Nadu, Madurai finalised

Talking to the media, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami said that the former CM Jayalalithaa had requested the central government to sanction the All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on 2015 -2016.

Now, Tamil Nadu is all set to receive the sanction for AIIMS.

A team from the centre came to investigate five locations in Tamil Nadu to set up AIIMS, and finally, they came up with Thoppur, Madurai. CM K Palaniswami said the reports of this sanction are sent to the health secretary.

There will be 200 acres of land alloted to set up AIIMS. Moreover, there will be beds for 750 patients and accommodation facilities for 100 MBBS students and 60 nursing students.

The central government has also requested Tamil Nadu to provide electricity, water facilities, four-lane roads for the proposed AIIMS.

CM Edappadi Palanaswami has expressed his heartfelt gratitude in the form of a letter to PM Narendra Modi for sanctioning AIIMS. He also wrote that AIIMS will give a better outlook to the state, while providing better medical education, research, better health care to the poor and middle class.

He also added the Tamil Nadu government will provide its best to the central government for the commencement of work.
