Heavy rains caused widespread flooding and disruption in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), particularly in Dubai, while neighbouring Oman grappled with a rising death toll from severe flooding. The deluge led to submerged highways, abandoned vehicles, flight disruptions, and school closures in the UAE

The 'Ahlan Modi' community event featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Abu Dhabi has been downscaled due to adverse weather conditions in the UAE. Originally anticipated to host 80,000 attendees, the event will now accommodate only 35,000 people due to heavy rains and lightning.

Residents of Kempegouda Layout, Bengaluru, face a water crisis as overflowing lake water threatens housing stability. Areas near Kannalli and Sulikere Lakes, especially Block 1L Sector and Block 2A, B, and H Sectors, are affected. Loose soil worsens the situation. Developers propose sheet metalling technology, but progress is slow. The BDA invested ₹60 crore in infrastructure, and without a solution, reallocating plots may incur additional costs. 

According to data released by the weather department, Sirkazhi in Mayiladuthurai district recorded the highest rainfall at 24 cm, followed by Chidambaram in Cuddalore district at 23 cm, and Velankanni in Nagapattinam district at 22 cm.

Kerala News LIVE: The India Meteorological Department has predicted isolated heavy rains in four districts of the state today.

In response to the calamity, Stalin announced flood relief measures, offering Rs 6,000 to individuals severely impacted by the heavy rains in Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli districts. Additionally, affected families in Tenkasi and Kanyakumari districts were allocated Rs 1,000 each.

The Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, and Indian Coast Guard have mobilized ground and aerial teams, including helicopters and aircraft, to assist in relief operations. Over 100 stranded individuals have been moved to safer locations, with a focus on pregnant women

Expressing concern over the unprecedented situation, Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena highlighted the gravity of the situation, mobilizing support from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Additionally, 84 boats were deployed for rescue operations, with special attention directed towards areas like Thoothukudi, Srivaikundam, and Kayalpattinam.

Extremely heavy rains unleashed floods across four districts of southern Tamil Nadu, disrupting normal life in Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Tenkasi and Kanyakumari districts of the state. A public holiday has been declared today in the affected districts due to the torrential rains. Schools, colleges, banks, private establishments and public sector firms will be shut. 

The Indian Railways cancelled several trains in the wake of Cyclone Michaung. However, this has put Sabarimala Ayyappa devotees in trouble and they about 2000 devotees are stranded at Chengannur railway station.

The Chennai airport's airport, which had suspended arrival and departure operations till 9 a.m. on Tuesday, has reopened. The Airport Authority of India has advised travellers to verify the status of their flights with their individual carriers.
 

To mitigate potential risks, residents are advised to secure their homes by keeping doors and windows shut, waterproofing essential documents and valuables, and stocking up on vital supplies like non-perishable food, water, and medications.

The incessant rain inundated several parts of Chennai, leaving vehicles submerged and streets flooded. Traffic jams paralyzed the city due to waterlogged roads, particularly evident on Chennai's Chrompet GST Road.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in the state today. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued in three districts, including Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Ernakulam today.

An easterly wave trough is expected to bring intense rainfall to several districts, and the weather system may lead to sporadic rain with intervals of sunshine. Coastal areas may experience intermittent rainfall.
