More than 50 detonators in two boxes were found abandoned on a platform at Kalyan railway station in Thane district, a Government Railway Police official said. The official added the boxes were spotted by the GRP lying unattended on platform No. 1.

The Astha Special train (09053), which was flagged off from Surat by Union Minister of State for Railways and Surat BJP MP Darshana Jardosh, carried 1,344 passengers across 22 coaches.

The South Western Railway Zone, in collaboration with the Railway Protection Corps and State Railway Police, is surveying to enhance security at railway stations. A 45-year-old man, suspected to be from Kerala, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a coach of the Karaikal Express at Baiyappanahalli's SMVT Terminal. The incident caused a three-hour delay as the affected coach was isolated. The GRP registered it as an unnatural death and initiated efforts to identify the victim, who had traveled from Thrissur to KSR Bangalore and then to Mysore on January 16.

Efforts by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) to control the fire took nearly an hour. After the blaze was extinguished, the affected coach was disconnected from the train, and services resumed at 6 am.

Distressed and concerned passengers alerted railway authorities multiple times, first in Bhopal, but their pleas went unanswered. It wasn't until the train reached Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh that the Government Railway Police (GRP) took charge of the situation and the body, sending it for postmortem.

This incident comes after a drunk Travel Ticket Examiner (TTE) allegedly urinated on a woman's head onboard the Amritsar-Kolkata Akal Takht Express. The incident happened on March 12, a Government Railway Police (GRP) official said.

The woman woke up and raised an alarm and her husband managed to grab the TTE. Other passengers also woke up and thrashed the TTE after which they handed him over to the Government Railway Police (GRP).
