POP Idols

For seven years, Bengaluru struggles to stop the sale of harmful POP Ganesha idols despite a state ban. Authorities face challenges due to religious sensitivity, and enforcement efforts have been insufficient, leading to ongoing sales of these idols.
 

Karnataka's Forest Minister, Eshwara Khandre, instructs State Pollution Control Board officials to take legal action against producers of Plaster of Paris (POP) Ganesha idols, citing environmental concerns and the ban on their use.
 

Best known for giving iconic and hit songs like Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai, Paani Paani, DJ Waley Babu, Mercy, Buzz, and also Genda Phool, the new banger song of Badshah, Issa Vibe faces anger and ire from global BTS ARMYs since he dissed BTS indirectly by referring to them as Biba.

During the Ganesh festival in 2023, PoP idols will be completely prohibited in all areas under the jurisdiction of the BMC.
 

The CPCB's 2010 guidelines on idol immersion were sufficient, and a ban on PoP idols was unnecessary, as per the petition. 

Joint efforts of the BBMP and Karnataka State Pollution Control Board and better coordination by the public has ensured that the city's water bodies do not get polluted. According to officials, between September 2 and September 16, the BBMP witnessed only 5,400 banned POP idols which is said to be just 1% of the total number of idols compared to last year’s 40%.

If any individual or group is found to be collecting money illegally, they can be jailed for three years along with a fine of Rs 3,000 slapped on them.
