The political landscape of Karnataka is in turmoil as five MLAs and MLCs, including Minister of Higher Education Dr. MC Sudhakar, threaten to resign if K.G. Chikka Peddanna, son-in-law of ex-Minister KH Muniyappa, is given the Kolar Lok Sabha ticket. Amidst chaos, resignations were written, with efforts made to persuade some members against resigning.

The parking shortage has hit the Vidhana Soudha. MLC's demand extra space and complain about the middlemen entering the premises, misusing the vehicle passes given by representatives. H K Patil assures suitable solution to the ongoing issue.

The Karnataka unit of the BJP has convened the meeting of its MLAs and MLCs to elect their floor leader on July 2 wherein a much-delayed consensus on the Leader of Opposition is expected to be reached. The selection of the Leader of Opposition is usually done immediately after the election results. 
 

The new ministers inducted were MLAs Umesh Katti (Hukkeri), S Angara (Sullia), Murugesh Nirani (Bilgi) and Arvind Limbavali (Mahadevapura), and MLCs R Shankar, N Nagaraj (MTR) and CP Yogeshwar.

By-elections were necessitated after three MLCs - Dr G Parameshwara of Congress, V Somanna and KS Eshwarappa from BJP - got elected to Vidhana Sabha in the recently-concluded assembly election.  The coalition partners decided to field MC Venugopal, Naseer Ahmed from Congress and HM Ramesh Gowda from JD(S).
