“It takes 4-5 days to visit a foreign country and I don’t have time for such foreign trips. My term is just one year and in a year I get only 250 days to work. Currently I’m working even during the holidays. I want to listen to the grievances of tax payers and it is my responsibility to solve their problems” – Mayor G Padmavati

Recently, Bengaluru got its first three-lane integrated skywalk that is one if its kinds in South India. This ₹2 crore skywalk has three elevators for the convenience of the pedestals.

The BBMP on January 24 inaugurated Bengaluru’s tallest skywalk at Nagavara junction on the Outer Ring Road, where nearly 20,000 pedestrians cross the road daily. The skywalk, which is mainly meant for people going to Manyata Tech Park, has been constructed at a height of 160 metres and has a width of 3 metres.

Stray dog problem has remained the same in spite of BBMP’s effort to reduce stray dog population. The mayor says that NGOs and animal lovers are interfering in their operations.

Four-time Corporator G Padmavati has won the Bengaluru Municipal Mayoral election, securing 142 votes in the 269-member Municipal Council. A Congress-JD(S) alliance was the root of her victory. 

Padmavathi defected from the JD(S) a decade ago and joined the Congress. Hence the JD(S) have raised a strong objection to Padmavathi and have pitched for Soumya Shivakumar.
