A technical issue has forced a delay in the shifting of Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) international flight operations to Terminal-2. The move was expected to alleviate congestion at Terminal 1 of the Kempegowda International Airport.
 

The KIA's Terminal 2 opened for domestic flight operations in January this year. The terminal was built at the cost of around Rs 5,000 crore and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2022.

The spokesperson further informed that the Terminal Operations team, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Immigration department were alerted and the passengers were immediately moved to the international arrivals for immigration.

Bengaluru: With contactless procedures and heightened safety measures in place, Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) resumed flight operations from Monday (May 25). As on 5 pm IST on May 25, Bengaluru airport registered a total of 74 air traffic movements including 43 departures and 31 arrivals, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), operator of Bengaluru airport, said in a press release. The first flight to depart from Bengaluru airport was Air Asia to Ranchi at 5.15 am and the first arrival was Indigo from Chennai at 7.35 am. A total of 74 flights were cancelled for the day. 'Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) — operator of BLR (Bengaluru) Airport — has introduced a slew of measures, including social distancing, thermal screening, sanitisation and disinfection tunnels, fumigation of the terminal, as well as a contactless F&B experience to ensure travellers pass through the Airport as safely and securely as possible,' BIAL said
