The case came to light on the morning of April 29, when the body of Anuj Kumar was found in a forest area near Julahapur village. He had suffered bullet injuries. Police question live-in partner

During the investigation, suspicion fell on Shobha Rani, who had been living with Anuj. Police said that during questioning, she confessed to shooting him and explained what had happened.

According to Superintendent of Police (Rural) Prakash Kumar, Shobha had been married to Satyendra since 2011 and has a daughter. She separated from her husband in 2023.

She met Anuj in 2024, and the two soon began living together.

Serious allegations against Anuj

Shobha accused Anuj of regularly abusing her. She told police that he physically assaulted her, sexually abused her and often demanded money.

She also alleged that he recorded private videos of her and used them to blackmail her into sexual acts.

When she refused his demands, she said, he beat her.

Concerns for daughter's safety

Shobha further alleged that Anuj had bad intentions towards her 10-year-old daughter. Police also said she accused him of previously trying to molest her younger sister, a case that had once sent him to jail.

These allegations increased her fear and distress.

Final incident on April 28

Police said the situation reached a breaking point on the night of April 28. Anuj allegedly took Shobha to a café and later to a village, where she claimed he assaulted and raped her.

At first, she reportedly considered taking her own life. But fearing for her daughter's safety, she instead decided to act.

Arrest and recovery

Police said Shobha took Anuj's country-made pistol and shot him. The weapon was later recovered after her arrest.

She was produced before a court and has now been sent to jail.

Police are continuing their investigation into the case.

Daughter died in December, police say

According to police, Priyanka had been suffering from prolonged illness and mental health problems for a long time. She reportedly died in December 2025.

Instead of informing relatives or carrying out her last rites, the elderly man allegedly kept her body inside the house and shut the residence for nearly four months.

By the time police entered the house, the remains had reached an advanced skeletal condition.

Relatives became suspicious

The matter came to light on April 10 when some relatives noticed Uday Bhanu Vishwas sitting at a tea stall in Meerut’s Begum Bagh area after not being seen for months.

When family members asked about Priyanka, he initially claimed that she had been admitted to a hospital in Dehradun for treatment.

However, police said that after repeated questioning, he allegedly admitted that his daughter had died and that her body was still inside the house.

The relatives then informed the police.

Police break open locked house

Police teams reached the residence in the Sadar Bazar area and broke open the lock of the house.

Inside, officers discovered Priyanka’s skeletal remains in a room that had been blocked with waste material and scrap items.

Family members also told police that the accused had used perfume inside the house to suppress the smell of decomposition. They alleged that he continued staying inside the house with the body for several days after Priyanka’s death.

Case registered against accused

Police have registered a case against Uday Bhanu Vishwas under Sections 239, 271 and 301 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The charges relate to concealing the body and failing to ensure a proper and dignified funeral. Officials also said the decomposed body could have created a health risk for people living nearby.

Mental health evaluation underway

Investigators said the accused had earlier received counselling at the Psychiatry Department of the local Medical College.

After his detention, he was again admitted for psychiatric evaluation to examine his mental condition. However, officials said preliminary findings suggested that his mental state appeared mostly stable.

Neighbours told police that Priyanka and her father had been living in isolation since the death of her mother in 2013. Residents said the elderly man often took his daughter for treatment in a rickshaw.

Police said the investigation is continuing and further action will depend on the evidence collected during the probe.

However, she claimed that her husband and his family were still unhappy and later demanded an additional Rs 50 lakh, according to India Today report.

Allegations of harassment

According to the FIR, Shivam Gupta is an MTech graduate and works as an executive engineer in Mumbai. He reportedly earns around Rs 2.5 lakh every month and visited home every two weeks.

Rupali alleged that after marriage, she was regularly harassed over dowry. She said she faced both mental and physical abuse. She also claimed that her husband showed little interest in maintaining a normal married relationship, which made her suspicious.

Hidden camera claim

To understand his behaviour, Rupali said she installed hidden cameras in their rented flat. She alleged that on June 21, 2025, the footage showed her husband inviting other men to the house and engaging in objectionable acts.

The woman said watching the videos left her deeply shocked and mentally disturbed.

Threats after confrontation

According to the complaint, when she confronted her husband, he threatened to kill her if she told anyone about what she had seen. She said fear stopped her from approaching the police immediately.

Rupali also claimed that when she first visited the local police station, her complaint was not registered.

Police begin investigation

After submitting a written complaint to senior police officers, an FIR was finally registered. Police have assigned the case to a sub-inspector for further investigation.

He took his son into another room

After the argument, Prem picked up his three-year-old son Bharat. Bharat was the youngest child in the family and Prem's only son.

Prem then took the boy into another room and locked the door from inside. The rest of the family eventually went back to sleep, believing nothing was wrong.

Mother's fears come true

Later in the night, Asha woke up and went to check on her son. She tried to open the room, but the door was locked. Despite repeated knocks, there was no response from inside.

Growing worried, she looked through a window. What she saw left the family horrified.

Prem was hanging from a noose inside the room. Nearby, little Bharat was lying in a pool of blood.

Asha immediately raised an alarm, and other family members rushed to the spot. The family believes the child may have been attacked with a sharp weapon, though police have not yet officially confirmed this.

Police break open the door

Husband first thought it was hot tea

The victim, Hemant, said he initially believed his wife had thrown hot tea at him.

"I first thought it was hot tea. I washed my face in the kitchen, but the burning kept getting worse," he said.

He then rushed to the bathroom and stood under the shower. It was only when some of the liquid entered his mouth that he realised it was acid, according to a report by Dainik Bhaskar.

"It tasted sour. That is when I understood she had thrown acid on me," he said.

Long-running dispute between the couple

Hemant, a jeweller, lives in Khairullah Shah with his four-year-old daughter, Arya. He married Shilpi, 32, six years ago. She is originally from Lakhimpur.

According to Hemant, problems began about a year after their marriage. He claimed he discovered that his wife was involved in a relationship with another man.

He said he informed her family, but the issue only made matters worse.

Legal battle for five years

The couple have been involved in a bitter dispute for nearly five years. In 2021, Shilpi filed a dowry harassment case against Hemant and later moved back to her parents' home in Lakhimpur.

Hemant has also accused his wife of having an affair. He claimed that a man named Vimal used to visit his house when he was away and alleged that he had caught them together. He said he has evidence to support his claims.

Divorce notice increased tensions

Hemant said he filed for divorce because of the ongoing problems in the marriage. According to him, matters became even worse after Shilpi received the divorce notice in February 2026.

He alleged that despite the divorce case, she repeatedly tried to enter his house. He also claimed that police had called him to the station several times and even took action against him for breach of peace.

Incident unfolded after police left

On Sunday at around 4 pm, Shilpi arrived in Pilibhit from Lakhimpur and allegedly created a scene outside Hemant's house. Hemant called the police emergency helpline, Dial 112. A police team reached the spot, but later left as no female police officer was present.

Soon after, Shilpi allegedly forced her way into the house.

Hemant was on the second floor at the time. As he came out of his room near the grilled gate, Shilpi allegedly threw acid at him from the other side.

Both taken to hospital

Some acid splashed back onto Shilpi during the attack, leaving her with burn injuries as well.

Both were rushed to the district hospital for treatment. Doctors are closely monitoring Hemant, whose condition remains serious.

City Kotwal Satyendra Kumar said the matter is being investigated thoroughly.

He assured that police would conduct a fair and impartial probe and take action based on the evidence. Further legal action will depend on the findings of the investigation and the statements of both sides.

Suspicion grew during cremation

The family became suspicious even before finding the suicide note. During Monika's cremation, her phone kept ringing. Her nephew, Sanyog, answered one of the calls.

He was shocked to see a man on video call, dressed in what appeared to be a police uniform.

The caller claimed to be a Crime Branch officer and asked to speak with Monika.

When Sanyog informed him that she had died, the man allegedly threatened legal action.

Threats continued after her death

Even after Monika's death, the calls reportedly did not stop. According to the family, the accused continued calling until Wednesday. They demanded to speak to Monika.

When family members refused, they allegedly threatened to send her husband to jail and harm the entire family.

This further strengthened suspicions that Monika had been targeted by cyber criminals.

Police register case

Following a complaint by Monika's husband, Randhir, police registered a case at Kotwali City police station. The FIR has been filed under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

What alleged suicide note says

In his final note, Priyanshu Srivastava allegedly says that he is ending his life after years of emotional pain, fear and humiliation. He directly blames his father, Rajesh Kumar Srivastava, describing him as excessively strict, controlling, and often violent.

Priyanshu writes that his childhood was filled with beatings, insults and constant pressure, leaving deep scars on his mind. He says his father never understood his feelings, choices or ambitions and repeatedly made him feel worthless. He requests that his father should not touch his body after death.

Priyanshu writes that despite working hard and trying to succeed, he remained trapped under expectations and emotional trauma. He felt lonely, exhausted and unable to continue carrying the burden. He apologises to friends and loved ones for the pain his decision will cause. He asks that his belongings and legal rights be handled fairly, and that no one twist his words.

He wants people to understand that his decision was the result of prolonged suffering, not a sudden impulse. He ends by expressing love for his mother and hopes they find peace, strength and happiness beyond grief, pain, memories, injustice, darkness, loneliness, despair, burdens, expectations, control, trauma, forever surrounding his life.

He wrote that such experiences filled him with guilt, shame and fear from a very young age. In the end, he writes that his father should not touch his body after his death, reflecting the depth of his anger, pain, and emotional hurt.

At the same time, he also clearly states that no legal action or harassment should be directed at his father after his death. He asks authorities and others not to trouble him in connection with his decision. This shows that despite holding his father responsible for much of his suffering, he did not want his death to become the basis for punitive action against him.

Pressure, fear and lack of freedom

Priyanshu said that his father's constant scolding, threats and suspicion affected him badly over the years. He wrote that while studies and hard work were manageable, living under constant monitoring was mentally exhausting.

He also mentioned being forced into academic choices he did not want, including taking Computer studies instead of Physical Education at school.

He felt he was never trusted.

Priyanshu had completed his LLB in 2025 and was working as a trainee lawyer. He reportedly faced difficulties in clearing his law examinations.

He also wrote about financial pressure and the burden of family responsibilities, especially due to his father's poor health.

Another major concern was his lack of professional independence, as he was working under his father's guidance.

Police begin investigation

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Satyajeet Gupta said police are examining the suicide note and other digital evidence. Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal confirmed that the note refers to several childhood incidents.

Officers have seized Priyanshu's mobile phone and are reviewing CCTV footage from the court complex.

The authenticity of the note is also being verified.

The incident has left the legal fraternity in Uttar Pradesh deeply saddened. Members of the Bar Association and court officials rushed to the scene after hearing about the tragedy.

According to police, Manish's car hit a woman who was either walking or washing utensils near the roadside. She suffered injuries in the collision.

However, the situation quickly turned violent. Local residents and some of the woman's relatives became angry. They allegedly dragged Manish out of his car and attacked him.

He was beaten with sticks, bricks and fists in full public view.

Manish suffered severe injuries in the brutal assault. His family rushed him to the trauma centre at Banaras Hindu University.

Doctors tried to save him, but he died during treatment.

Police described the incident as a road accident that escalated into deadly mob violence.

Police Register Murder Case

Deputy Commissioner of Police Neetu Kadyan said a case has been filed based on a complaint by the victim's family.

Police have named eight accused and included seven unidentified people in the FIR.

So far, four suspects have been arrested. Police teams are carrying out raids to catch the remaining accused.

Officials have promised strict action against everyone involved.

After Manish's death, his family refused to perform his last rites until all the accused were arrested.

Officials said the teenager, identified as Suman, was cutting grass near the river when the crocodile suddenly emerged from the water and attacked her, according to news agency PTI.

Crocodile grabbed her hand

According to officials and doctors at a nearby primary health centre in Atrauli township, the crocodile caught hold of Suman’s right hand and tried to drag her towards the river. Despite the terrifying situation, the girl did not give up.

Officials said Suman immediately started shouting for help and began punching the crocodile in the eyes with her left hand in an effort to escape.

Aunt rushed to save her

Hearing her cries, Suman’s aunt, who was also cutting grass nearby, rushed to help her. Officials said the woman struck the crocodile in the eye with a sickle, injuring the reptile.

After being attacked, the crocodile finally released Suman’s hand and moved back into the river. People nearby later helped the injured girl and took her for medical treatment.

Victim referred to district hospital

Dr Arvind Yadav, who is in charge of the local health centre, said Suman suffered serious injuries to her right hand during the attack.

She was first taken to the nearby primary health centre and later referred to Deen Dayal District Hospital in Aligarh for further treatment.

The doctor said the teenager is now out of danger.

The incident has shocked villagers living near the river and once again highlighted the risks faced by people living close to wildlife areas.

Rushed to hospital, but doctors declared him dead

Late that night, Jitendra's condition became critical. Around 3 am, family members took him to hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

His sudden death immediately raised questions, but the exact cause was not clear at the time.

Post-mortem gave no answers

Doctors conducted a post-mortem, but the initial report could not confirm the exact reason for Jitendra's death. Because of the uncertainty, police preserved his viscera and sent it for forensic testing.

FSL report exposed the murder plot

Nearly four months later, the Forensic Science Laboratory submitted its report. The findings were explosive. The report confirmed that Jitendra had died after consuming sulphas poison.

With that, what was first treated as a suspicious death became a clear murder case.

Family approached court

Jitendra's family had never accepted that his death was natural. On 5 January 2026, acting on a court order, police registered a case at Trans Yamuna police station.

Later, on 16 March, the investigation was transferred to Kamla Nagar police station.

Marital dispute led to murder, police say

During the investigation, police found that Jitendra and his wife, Tanu, had been having serious marital problems for a long time. Officers believe the ongoing dispute became the motive for the crime.

Police say Tanu and her father, Mahendra, together planned Jitendra's murder.

Sulphas mixed in alcohol

According to investigators, Mahendra mixed sulphas into Jitendra's drink during the birthday gathering. Jitendra consumed the poisoned alcohol, which eventually caused his death.

After questioning, Mahendra allegedly admitted that the poison had been mixed into the liquor.

Wife and father-in-law arrested

Following the forensic report and further interrogation, police arrested both Tanu and Mahendra. They have been sent to jail.

Further legal proceedings are now underway.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ali Abbas told Aaj Tak that Jitendra had died under suspicious circumstances while visiting his in-laws.

Since the initial cause of death was unclear, his viscera was preserved for testing.

The forensic report later confirmed the presence of toxic substances.

He added that questioning of the father-in-law revealed that poison had been mixed into the alcohol.

Mother's demand for justice

Jitendra's mother, Munni Rani, has demanded the strictest punishment for those responsible. She alleged that her son was called to his in-laws' house in the name of his wife's birthday celebration.

According to her, he was deliberately poisoned. She said the accused deserve the harshest possible punishment.

A cyclonic circulation remains active over north Pakistan and adjoining Kashmir. This system is interacting with several troughs and low-pressure circulations across northern India.

Another upper air cyclonic circulation is active over southeast Uttar Pradesh and nearby areas, helping to pull moisture into the region.

Together, these systems have created ideal conditions for thunderstorms, rain and hail across Delhi-NCR.

The weather department has said a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from May 2.

This could bring more weather activity across northern India over the next few days.

Maximum temperatures are also expected to drop by one to two degrees Celsius, offering partial relief from the ongoing heat.

Heatwave continues elsewhere

While Delhi-NCR enjoys cooler weather, heatwave conditions are expected in other parts of India.

The IMD has warned that isolated areas of Vidarbha may face heatwave conditions on April 29.

A longer spell is likely over West Rajasthan from May 1 to May 3.

Hot and humid weather is also expected in Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Coastal Karnataka.

Another major factor was the legal trouble surrounding I-PAC earlier this year. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at the firm’s office in Kolkata and at the residence of co-founder Pratik Jain.

Later, another co-founder, Vinesh Chandel, was arrested in April. The ED claimed that large amounts of money were moved through illegal channels into a company linked to I-PAC.

Madrasa identified in Barabanki

Sources identified the institution as Islamia School in Maila Reganj, Barabanki. The madrasa reportedly has around two dozen teachers, according to a report by India Today.

UP Joint Director Son Kumar confirmed that biometric attendance is mandatory. He said attendance reports are prepared at the district level and salaries are released only after verification.
