'I Bought This For You': Noida Man Steals Car To Impress Upset Wife, Police Track Him Down

A 22-year-old man in Noida allegedly stole a car to impress his upset wife and then travelled to Etah to tell her that he had bought the vehicle, police said. The unusual plan came to light after a Hyundai Exter was reported stolen from a parking area in Sector 18, Noida. Police used local intelligence and electronic surveillance to trace the accused and recover the car. The accused, identified as Arun, son of Akhilesh, was arrested on September 13 near a vacant plot on the road from Attapeer towards DLF Mall, police said.

Why did Arun steal the car?

According to police, Arun had been having a dispute with his wife and wanted to make her happy. During questioning, he allegedly told investigators that he wanted to take a car to his wife in Etah to win her over, reported Prabhat Khabar.

Instead of buying one, police said, Arun allegedly stole a Hyundai Exter from a parking area in Sector 18. He then drove the stolen car to Etah, where his wife was staying.

Arun allegedly told her that he had bought the car and presented it to her as a new purchase. The plan, however, did not last long.

Stolen car complaint changed everything

Police said Arun later learnt that a complaint had been filed about the stolen Hyundai Exter. After finding out that the police were looking for the vehicle, he allegedly left Etah and went to his sister's house in Kannauj.

He also switched off his mobile phone, apparently in an attempt to avoid being traced. Meanwhile, Sector-20 police began working to locate him.

Electronic surveillance helps Noida Police

The police used local intelligence and electronic surveillance during the investigation. The investigation eventually provided clues about Arun's movements and whereabouts.

Police then traced him to the area near a vacant plot on the road leading from Attapeer towards DLF Mall. He was arrested there on September 13. The stolen Hyundai Exter was also recovered from his possession, police said.

Fake number plate found on stolen Hyundai Exter

Police said the recovered Hyundai Exter was being driven with a fake registration number plate. Its original number plate had allegedly been removed and kept inside the boot of the car.

According to police, the actual registration number of the vehicle was UP14GB1456.

The fake number plate fitted on the car was UP16C0007TC/02.

The use of the fake number plate also helped investigators establish that the vehicle had been deliberately concealed after the alleged theft.

Who is the accused?

Police identified the accused as 22-year-old Arun, son of Akhilesh. He is originally from Sonasa village in the Bagwala police station area of Etah district.

At the time of the incident, he was living in a rented house in Chhijarsi, Sector 63, Noida. Arun worked as a driver in Noida, according to police.

His familiarity with driving may have helped him take the stolen vehicle from Noida to Etah, where he allegedly tried to pass it off as a car he had purchased.

From angry wife to police custody

The sequence began as a personal matter, according to the police account. Arun and his wife were reportedly having a dispute. He allegedly wanted to do something that would make her happy and decided to take a car to her. Police said he stole the Hyundai Exter from the Sector 18 parking area and drove it to Etah.

After telling his wife that he had bought the vehicle, he later learnt that the theft had been reported. His response, according to investigators, was to leave Etah for Kannauj and switch off his phone.

However, the move did not prevent police from tracking him.

After his arrest, police recovered the Hyundai Exter and found the original number plate inside the boot, while a fake number plate was fitted to the vehicle.

The accused was subsequently produced before a court. He was sent to jail following the court proceedings, police said.

The murder of Uttar Pradesh-based pharmaceutical businessman Vineet Minocha inside his flat in Kanpur's Indira Nagar has taken a dramatic turn as police arrested his daughter-in-law, Shalu, over her alleged role in the conspiracy.

Investigators suspect that family tensions, financial restrictions and CCTV surveillance inside the home may have contributed to the alleged plot. Police say the case, which initially appeared to be the work of outsiders, was cracked through CCTV footage, call records and deleted messages.

According to the police investigation, Vineet closely monitored the activities of his son and daughter-in-law and kept an eye on movements inside the house through CCTV cameras.

Investigators also suspect that he exercised considerable control over their spending. Police are examining whether resentment over these issues contributed to the alleged conspiracy.

However, these allegations remain part of the police investigation and have yet to be established in court.

Police said Vineet's son Subrat, his wife Shalu and their six-year-old son left the flat for a party at around 9.36 pm on Saturday.

Within minutes, CCTV footage reportedly captured two suspicious men heading towards the apartment.

Investigators believe the men entered the flat and waited inside for Vineet to return. He arrived home at around 10.58 pm, by which time the two suspects had allegedly been inside for more than an hour.

Police said the original plan was allegedly to suffocate Vineet with a pillow while he slept and make his death appear natural.

But the plan reportedly changed when Vineet walked towards the children's room and came face-to-face with the attackers. He was allegedly stabbed, suffering fatal injuries to his neck and chest.

Police identified one of the suspects as Vishal Gautam, a former employee who had reportedly worked at Vineet's residence for around 12 to 13 years.

According to investigators, Vishal was familiar with the layout of the house and allegedly had access to a duplicate key. Police suspect he used it to enter the flat with his associate, Raj Kishore.

The alleged use of the duplicate key strengthened investigators' suspicion that the entry had been planned.

During questioning, police said the two accused allegedly claimed that Shalu had offered them money to carry out the murder. She was subsequently arrested in connection with the case.

Digital evidence has now become a major part of the investigation.

Police said Shalu and Vishal were in contact around 309 times between May 1 and the day of the murder, through phone and WhatsApp calls.

Investigators have also reportedly found 49 deleted messages exchanged between the two. Technical teams are now trying to recover the chats to determine whether they contain evidence related to the alleged murder conspiracy.

Police are also investigating an alleged Rs 6 lakh deal to kill Vineet.

According to the investigation, Rs 2 lakh was allegedly to be paid after the murder, while the remaining Rs 4 lakh was to be paid around 15 days later.

The fact that cash and valuables were reportedly left untouched led investigators to look beyond robbery and examine possible tensions within the family.

The investigation is continuing, and the role and motive of each accused will ultimately be subject to the judicial process.

CCTV captures woman being followed

Police register case, form team

Khatauli police said a case has been registered under relevant sections based on the complaint received from the woman.

In a social media post, police said the video from the Khatauli police station area showed a man harassing a woman before fleeing after she raised an alarm.

Police said a team has been formed to establish the circumstances of the incident and identify the accused. Investigators are examining CCTV cameras installed around the area to trace the man.

The police said efforts were underway to identify the accused and that he would be arrested soon.

Area Officer Khatauli Rupali Roy is overseeing the investigation, according to police.

Police are treating the death as suicide, but the circumstances leading up to the fatal fall are still being examined.

CCTV captures his final movements

According to CCTV footage examined by police, Sharan came out of his room at around 10.25 am on Friday. His clothes were reportedly stained with blood.

He remained outside his room for some time before moving from the third floor to the fourth-floor terrace. The footage shows him sitting on the terrace and later lying on the ground for around 10 seconds.

At around 10.36 am, he suddenly got up and jumped from the terrace.

Sharan suffered serious injuries to his head and body. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

A video showing the fatal fall later circulated on social media.

The discovery of a grinder inside Sharan’s room has become one of the key points in the investigation.

Police have also said that an injury to his private part came to light during the probe, according to a report by India Today. Officials have not established how or when the injury occurred, or whether it had any connection with his death.

Vrindavan Circle Officer Sandeep Kumar Singh said the reason behind the injury could only be established after the investigation.

Police have seized the CCTV cameras and sent Sharan’s blood sample for forensic examination. The post-mortem report, according to the police, attributed the death to excessive bleeding.

The unexplained injury has therefore become an important part of the probe. Investigators are trying to piece together what happened in the room before Sharan appeared on the CCTV footage.

Deleted chats and videos under scanner

Police are also examining Sharan’s mobile phone for possible clues about his final hours.

The phone has been sent to a forensic laboratory for data recovery. Investigators are checking whether photographs, videos, chats or other material were deleted before his death and whether any of it can be recovered.

At present, police have not found a clear reason for the reported suicide.

Investigators have also questioned people living at the ashram and others who were around Sharan before the incident.

The death has also led to demands for a high-level probe from saints in Vrindavan.

Mahant Mohini Sharan Maharaj condemned the incident and questioned why Keli Kunj, where Sharan was staying, had not issued a statement after the death. He also questioned why the administration had not conducted a high-level investigation.

Mohini Sharan demanded that the district administration order a detailed probe. He also called for an inquiry into people moving around the area dressed as saints, alleging that some anti-social elements could be using such attire.

Another saint, Mahant Gangadas Ji Maharaj, described the incident as “very wrong”. He also alleged that similar incidents had taken place there from time to time.

Gangadas further alleged that some disciples at Keli Kunj were involved in land grabbing and “mafia activities”. These are allegations made by the saint and have not been established by police.

For now, the CCTV footage provides investigators with a timeline of Sharan’s final movements, but it does not by itself explain what happened before he left his room.

The injury to his private part, the grinder found in the room and the possibility of deleted material from his phone are among the issues being examined.

Investigators are waiting for forensic findings and statements before drawing conclusions.

As the probe continues, police are examining physical, forensic and digital evidence together. The central question remains what happened in the period before Sharan appeared on the fourth-floor terrace, and whether the evidence recovered from his room and phone can explain his final moments.

A woman was allegedly strangled to death at her home in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi following an argument with her husband. According to police officials, her husband, identified as 28-year-old Yash Thakur, is currently absconding and police teams are searching for him. The victim has been identified as Sudha, also known as Shivani, a native of Indergarh in Madhya Pradesh. She had been living in Jhansi's Sipri Bazar area for around three months.

What happened inside the house?

According to Shivani’s family, she and Yash went to sleep late on Sunday night after an argument. Shivani’s 18-year-old younger sister Muskan was sleeping in an adjoining room.

Muskan said that at around 1.30 am to 2 am, Yash asked for his bag, claiming that he needed to take some belongings. After receiving the bag, he allegedly latched the door from outside and left.

Muskan later tried to open her own room around 5 am to use the bathroom but found that its door had also been latched from outside. She said she called out to Shivani and Yash for nearly half an hour but received no response. She eventually went back to sleep.

At around 9 am, Shivani’s brother Aniket reached the house. He found the door to Shivani’s room latched from outside and opened it.

Shivani was found lying unconscious on the floor.

The family rushed her to the Medical College, where doctors declared her dead.

Family accuses husband of murder

Aniket alleged that Shivani had marks on her neck and that blood was coming from her ear. He and Muskan accused Yash of killing Shivani before locking the rooms from outside and fleeing.

Police initially found an injury mark on Shivani’s neck, while no other obvious injuries were reported.

CO Ramveer Singh said the body was sent for post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

A two-doctor panel later conducted the post-mortem. According to the doctors, Shivani had been strangled to death. Five injuries were reportedly found on her neck and face.

Police suspect that a rope or a piece of clothing may have been used in the alleged strangulation.

Couple met on social media

Muskan said Shivani had met Yash, who is from Gwalior, on social media around two years ago. The two reportedly fell in love and informed their families, who agreed to their marriage.

The couple married around one-and-a-half years ago and initially lived together in Gwalior.

However, Muskan alleged that Yash later began assaulting Shivani over petty issues. Shivani subsequently moved to Jhansi and rented a room near Awas Vikas Fauji Tiraha, where Muskan and Aniket also stayed.

Yash continued to visit Shivani in Jhansi occasionally, the family said.

Argument before alleged killing

A day before Raksha Bandhan, Shivani travelled to Gwalior with her younger brother Kapil. She stayed there for two days before returning to Jhansi with Yash, while Kapil returned to their village.

On Sunday night, Shivani and Yash reportedly had another argument. Muskan alleged that Yash abused her family during the dispute.

Their maternal uncle, Santosh, who lived nearby, intervened and managed to calm the situation. Muskan then went to sleep in the adjoining room, while Shivani and Yash remained together in the other room.

Police are now trying to establish what happened inside the room after that argument and before Yash allegedly left the house.

Police search for absconding husband

Yash has not been traced so far. Police teams have been deployed to locate him, while investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding Shivani’s death.

The post-mortem findings have confirmed strangulation, but investigators are continuing to establish the sequence of events and collect evidence in the case.

The incident took place at around noon on Wednesday at MG Jewellers in the busy Sarrafa Bazaar. The man arrived dressed like a religious ascetic, wearing a garland and ash-like markings on his forehead.

According to shopkeeper Santosh Raikwar, the man entered the store on the pretext of looking at anklets.

He then continued talking to the jeweller and allegedly kept him engaged for some time.

Santosh told police that he himself handed the man around 10 grams of gold and a bundle containing Rs 50,000.

The shopkeeper alleged that the man took around Rs 17,000 from the cash and returned the remaining money. He then left the shop.

The jeweller said he realised what had allegedly happened only after the man had gone. He subsequently informed the police and submitted a complaint.

The 10 grams of gold is estimated to be worth around Rs 1.5 lakh. However, police are verifying the exact amount of cash and gold allegedly missing from the shop.

CCTV footage from the jewellery store has emerged as an important lead in the investigation. The footage shows the man sitting or standing near the counter and speaking to the shopkeeper.

He can also be seen making repeated hand gestures during the conversation. His religious attire, garland and ash-like markings are clearly visible in the footage.

Local traders said the suspect later reached an area near Saurabh Sweet House and left in a rickshaw.

The incident caused concern among other jewellers in the market. Former Sarrafa Bazaar president Anil Soni said the incident took place between around noon and 12.15 pm. He urged police to increase security and surveillance in the market.

The shopkeeper has claimed that he felt as if he had been hypnotised and did not understand what was happening for some time.

However, police have not found evidence of hypnosis so far.

Mauranipur Circle Officer Ratneshwar Singh told Aaj Tak that the preliminary investigation did not indicate any use of hypnosis.

Police suspect that the man may have distracted and confused the jeweller through conversation before allegedly taking the cash and gold.

Investigators are now examining the CCTV footage to identify the suspect. They are also checking whether he acted alone or had accomplices.

Police are questioning the shopkeeper and examining other available leads as they continue the investigation.

The man, identified as Ankit Kumar, was rescued by fishermen after he entered the Ganga near the Ram Van Gaman Path overbridge on Wednesday morning. He was later taken to a health centre in Muratganj, where he is undergoing treatment. The incident took place at around 11 am near the Ganga overbridge. Before reaching the river, Ankit went live on Facebook and held up a two-page suicide note while speaking about his alleged problems with his in-laws, according to a report by Aaj tak.

Man alleges harassment by wife's family

During the livestream, Ankit named several people and alleged that they had harassed and threatened him. He identified Rajesh from Kasariya, Sonu from Barmatpur, Lavkush, Panna Lal, Shivdani, Piyush and Prateek. Ankit also claimed that he had approached Kaushambi police about the matter around a year ago, but alleged that the dispute had not been resolved.

According to a Dainik Bhaskar report, Ankit said, "Priya, who is my wife, is someone I am ashamed to even call my wife. She is extremely deceitful.

“I have come live today. Today, my life will come to an end. My in-laws are responsible for my death. I repeatedly complained to them that their daughter behaves this way and that way, and is always creating drama.

"But they are so unwilling to accept their daughter’s mistakes that they never see any fault in her. I had even filed a complaint at the family police station, but nothing is being done now."

He further alleged that members of his wife's family had visited his house, misbehaved with him and assaulted him. During the Facebook Live, he pointed towards an injury near his eye while making the allegations.

Ankit also claimed that he had received threats over the phone, including warnings that cases would be filed against him. He specifically identified Prateek as his wife's brother.

The allegations made by Ankit during the livestream have not been independently established.

Fishermen rescue Ankit from Ganga

After the livestream, Ankit reached the Ganga near Basedi and entered the river. Fishermen in the area noticed him in the water and rescued him.

The family said Ankit was distressed and crying on Wednesday morning as he missed his wife and child. He subsequently went live on Facebook and spoke about the marital dispute and his allegations against his wife's family.

Police investigate suicide attempt

Police have started an investigation into the incident and are examining the circumstances surrounding Ankit's suicide attempt.

He alleged that Rishipal, his sons Vikrant and Gajendra, and others had a dispute with him over the property.

According to the FIR, Vikrant allegedly arrived at the disputed plot with his father and other people on Monday. The group allegedly climbed onto rooms built on the plot and began stone-pelting and firing.

The complaint alleges that Rishipal fired first, followed by Vikrant, who allegedly used the same revolver. During the firing, Sandeep was hit in the leg.

The allegations in the FIR are being investigated by police.

Three arrested after shooting

A 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were found dead inside a guest house room in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. Police identified the man as Amit Kumar and the woman as Nargis. The couple had been staying at the Red Building Guest House in the Chinhat police station area for nearly 20 days, according to police, as quoted by India Today.

Couple found dead in guest house room

Police said guest house operator Rakesh Yadav informed them over the phone that the man and woman staying in room number 101 had hanged themselves.

A police team reached the guest house soon after receiving the information. Police said the couple had used a dupatta to hang themselves from the hook of the ceiling fan.

The bodies were brought down by the police, after which inquest proceedings were completed. The bodies were then sent to Lohia Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Guest house records showed that Amit and Nargis had been staying in room number 101 since August 23.

Marriage certificate recovered from room

During the investigation, police recovered a certificate from an Arya Samaj temple from the room. The certificate stated that Amit and Nargis had married.

The document identified the woman as Nargis alias Pooja. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding their stay at the guest house and the events that led to their deaths.

Police also recovered a suicide note from the room. The contents of the note have not been disclosed.

Nargis named in kidnapping case

When police contacted the families in Hardoi, they learnt that Harpalpur police station had registered a kidnapping case against Nargis.

Police said the families had not received any information about Amit and Nargis since then. The kidnapping case and the couple's stay at the Lucknow guest house are now part of the investigation.

Forensic team collects evidence

Police official Diksha Sharma said police received information on the night of September 9 about the deaths at the guest house in the Chinhat police station area.

Sharma said police immediately reached the spot and brought the bodies down before taking them to the hospital. Doctors later declared them dead.

Friends record stunt before the jump

Pushpendra Kumar Manouria, a resident of Parwai village, had gone to Pahuj Dam with a group of friends on Sunday evening. While making a reel, Pushpendra reached a viewpoint on the left side of the dam. A railing had been installed at the spot for safety.

According to the video, Pushpendra climbed over the railing and prepared to jump. His friends stood nearby with their mobile phones recording him. Amid laughter and joking, one of them can be heard saying, "Bhagwaan teri aatma ko shanti de (May your soul rest in peace)."

Moments later, Pushpendra jumped from the height into the dam.

He landed on rocks instead of deep water

The stunt went badly wrong within seconds.

The spot where Pushpendra landed had shallow water and a rocky surface underneath. His feet hit the rocks directly, causing severe injuries and fractures to both legs.

Unable to use his legs properly, Pushpendra also struggled to get out of the water. He reportedly held his injured legs with his hands before managing to swim with his arms and grab an iron rod.

People nearby then helped pull him out of the water.

Police arrive, injured Pushpendra taken to hospital

After the accident was reported, Grassland outpost in-charge Ranvijay Singh reached the spot with police personnel, according tp a report by Aaj Tak.

Pushpendra was taken to a private hospital for treatment. His family also reached the hospital after being informed about the accident. One of his legs was more seriously injured and required surgery, during which two rods were inserted. The other leg also requires an operation.

Pushpendra says he will not repeat the stunt

Speaking about the accident, Pushpendra said he had jumped expecting to land in water but did not realise that the water was too shallow at that point.

He said the impact left both legs badly injured and that he remained in the water for some time before managing to pull himself out.

Pushpendra also admitted that he had performed stunts at different places in the past. However, the accident made him realise how dangerous such attempts can be.

He has now said that he will not attempt such a stunt again.

The two reportedly spoke to Tomar about verification needed for a car loan that Priyanka had applied for. When he refused to carry out the verification, an argument broke out between father and daughter.

According to the complaint, the disagreement soon turned into verbal abuse and a physical confrontation. Priyanka allegedly assaulted her father during the argument.

Her sister-in-law intervened, after which she too was allegedly involved in a scuffle with Priyanka. The commotion drew the attention of neighbours, who reached the house. Priyanka and her friend then reportedly left the spot.

Woman allegedly returns with pistol

Police said the situation escalated further when Priyanka allegedly returned around 25 minutes later with her friend. She is accused of forcing her way into the house after bringing down the main gate. Once inside, she allegedly pulled out a pistol and pointed it at her father and sister-in-law.

She allegedly threatened to kill them before the two family members moved upstairs to protect themselves.

The woman and her friend subsequently left the house, police said. CCTV cameras installed near the house reportedly captured the incident.

The footage allegedly shows the woman holding a pistol while confronting her father and sister-in-law. Police are examining the recording along with other evidence as they investigate the allegations.

The footage is expected to help investigators establish the sequence of events and verify the claims made in the complaint.

Case registered, search underway

A case was registered at Sahibabad police station on September 9 against Priyanka Tomar and her friend on the basis of Hitesh Tomar's complaint.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Sahibabad) Amit Saxena said police teams were conducting searches to locate the accused.

Police are continuing to examine the CCTV footage and other available evidence. Further legal action will follow after the accused are traced and the evidence is assessed, officials said.

The video emerged publicly on Friday, September 4. The alleged incident took place at Archana's home, around a kilometre from the Bulandshahr Collectorate, according to a report by Dainik Bhaskar. Archana, who is a Congress Mahila Sabha state vice-president, has filed a complaint against Pandit at Shikarpur police station.

Archana alleges assault inside her home

In her complaint, Archana alleged that she was at home with her son, Samar Pandit, when Guddu Pandit arrived unexpectedly. She alleged that he banged loudly on the door and shouted for her to come outside. When she opened the door, she claimed he pushed her forcefully, causing her to fall to the floor, before allegedly assaulting her.

According to Archana, a domestic worker heard her screams and began recording the incident on a mobile phone. She alleged that Pandit backed away after noticing that he was being filmed.

Archana said she then ran towards the road to protect herself and informed the police.

'I fear for my life'

Archana has also alleged that she and her son have repeatedly received death threats from Pandit and members of his family. She claimed that her divorce case against Pandit is currently pending in court and alleged that he wants her to withdraw the case.

According to her complaint, she believes the alleged harassment is connected to the ongoing divorce proceedings. She has sought protection, including the deployment of women police personnel around the clock, saying she fears for her safety.

These allegations have not yet been established in court.

Police investigating video and allegations

Bulandshahr City Circle Officer Prakhar Pandey said police had received Archana's complaint and were examining the video that has surfaced.

The officer said the allegations and footage were being investigated and that action would be taken against the accused based on the facts established during the probe.

Police have not yet publicly disclosed the outcome of the investigation or confirmed whether an FIR has been registered under specific sections.

Guddu Pandit and Archana have had a dispute for two years

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, he contested Fatehpur Sikri on a BSP ticket but was defeated. He left the BSP in 2022 and joined Shiv Sena before returning to the Samajwadi Party in 2023.

Archana Pandit’s political journey

Archana Pandit has also been active in politics. She previously served as the national general secretary of the Samajwadi Party's women's wing. She contested the 2023 Bulandshahr municipal chairperson election as an SP candidate and finished second.

She later joined the Congress in Lucknow and currently holds a position in the party's women's organisation in Uttar Pradesh.

Her political association with the Congress and Pandit's affiliation with the Samajwadi Party add another layer to the dispute, although the current police case concerns allegations of assault and threats.

The search was stopped during the night because of heavy rain and poor visibility. It resumed on Tuesday morning after police received information about a woman’s body near the Ganga. Officers reached the riverbank and identified her as Sushma. During the search that followed, Chhotu was found hanging from a tree in a nearby forest.

Police say Subrat’s alleged confession came at around 4 am after he apparently realised that his arrest was becoming increasingly likely.

During questioning, he reportedly said that he initially believed police would arrest him quickly. He later learnt that Vishal had not named him in his statement, which allegedly left him uncertain about what would happen next.

Police claim that, as the investigation progressed and inconsistencies emerged, Subrat came under sustained questioning.

It was during this phase, according to investigators, that he allegedly decided to take responsibility for the murder.

The exact sequence of events remains under investigation. Police are also checking whether the statement given during questioning is supported by independent evidence.

The statement of domestic help Vishal has also become an important part of the investigation.

According to police, Vishal later claimed that Subrat had told him that, if they were caught, he should name Shalu.

Vishal also reportedly told investigators that Subrat had spoken to him over the phone before the murder. According to his alleged statement, the plan was to make the death appear natural rather than a murder.

Police say Vishal claimed that Subrat called him around six times on the day of the incident and appeared to be in a hurry while speaking.

Vishal has also reportedly claimed that Vineet saw the two during the incident and raised an alarm.

According to Vishal’s account, he panicked at that point and attacked Vineet with a knife.

Police are now comparing Vishal’s version with Subrat’s alleged confession to determine which parts of their statements are supported by evidence.

Another possible motive has emerged during questioning.

Vishal reportedly told police that Vineet had relationships with some women and allegedly spent large amounts of money on them.

According to Vishal’s claim, Subrat, on the other hand, received limited money for his expenses.

Vishal allegedly told investigators that Subrat feared Vineet could transfer some of his property to one of the women.

Police are examining whether financial or property-related concerns played any role in the alleged murder conspiracy.

At this stage, however, the property angle remains an investigative claim and has not been established as the motive for the killing.

Police also questioned Subrat and his wife Shalu together.

According to the police account, Shalu became emotional when she was brought face-to-face with her husband. She reportedly cried for around 20 minutes.

Subrat allegedly did not speak much to her and later turned his face away.

During questioning, Shalu reportedly maintained that she had no knowledge of who killed Vineet. She has denied involvement in the murder, according to the police account.

Police have not given her a clean chit.

Investigators are examining her statement along with Subrat’s alleged confession, Vishal’s statements, call detail records and other circumstantial evidence.

The investigation will have to establish whether Shalu had any role in the alleged conspiracy or whether the accusations against her were an attempt to divert suspicion.

The investigation has also brought attention to visuals recorded after Vineet Minocha’s death.

In some of the footage, Subrat can reportedly be seen at his father’s funeral. He is seen hugging his grandmother, Vineet's mother, and crying.

He also appears to console his grandmother during the funeral.

Subrat reportedly carried his father’s bier during the last rites.

These visuals have drawn attention because they emerged alongside the police claim that he later admitted involvement in the murder.

However, his behaviour at the funeral by itself does not establish his involvement or innocence. Police are relying on statements and other evidence gathered during the investigation to determine what happened.

The alleged confession is now being examined alongside the rest of the evidence.

Police are looking at the statements made by Subrat, Shalu and Vishal, as well as their call records and the circumstances surrounding Vineet's death.

Usman is the uncle of Bilari MLA Mohammad Faheem Irfan. He had reportedly gone to the Circuit House to meet Leader of the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, Lal Bihari Yadav, who was staying there.

What happened at the Circuit House?

According to officials, the district administration had received the protocol for Yadav's stay and made arrangements at the Circuit House accordingly.

After a review meeting with SP leaders ended, Usman went outside and offered namaz near the lawn. An SP worker recorded the incident, and the video later circulated widely online, according to a report by Bhaskar English.

The administration has not said that Usman was formally granted permission to use the Circuit House for prayers. Moradabad City Additional District Magistrate Ankit Srivastava said an investigation was underway and that action would follow.

An FIR has since been registered against Usman under Sections 285 and 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The provisions relate to causing danger or obstruction in a public way and public nuisance.

Hindu group questions prayer at government premises

Rohan Saxena, state president of the Rashtriya Bajrang Dal, questioned how the prayer was allowed at the government facility.

He asked the administration to clarify whether any rule permitted a legislator's relative or a political leader to offer prayers at the Circuit House. He also demanded action if no such permission existed.

The controversy has since widened on social media, with some users describing the incident as an individual's exercise of faith, while others have questioned religious activities at government property.

What did Haji Mohammad Usman say?

Allahabad High Court ruling on public land

The controversy comes months after an important observation by the Allahabad High Court. In May 2026, a Division Bench of Justices Saral Srivastava and Garima Prasad held that public land cannot be claimed for exclusive religious use. The court said the right to practise religion is subject to public order and the rights of others.

The ruling came in a case from Sambhal, where a petitioner had sought protection to offer namaz on land he claimed was private. The court found the land was recorded as public land and said authorities could regulate religious activity where it affected public life or involved organised gatherings.

However, the court's ruling concerned the use of public land and organised or recurring religious activity. It does not mean that every individual act of private prayer is automatically illegal. The circumstances and nature of the activity remain important.

Usman has faced controversies before

This is not the first controversy involving Usman. During the 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign, a case was reportedly registered against him over allegations of violating the Model Code of Conduct and making an inflammatory speech at an SP rally addressed by party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

His name also surfaced in a dispute over caste certificates. In 2026, a district-level verification committee found that OBC certificates issued to Mohammad Faheem Irfan, Usman and members of Usman's family on the basis of the Jhojha caste claim did not comply with the applicable rules. The certificates were subsequently cancelled.

Usman has previously served as a district panchayat member and headed his ancestral village, Ibrahimpur.

Police are examining the CCTV footage to identify the suspect and establish his route into and out of the house. Investigators are also questioning people in the area as they work to trace the accused.

Second theft reported days earlier

The burglary has also raised concern among local residents because another house in the same area was reportedly targeted just two days earlier.

On the night of September 19, thieves allegedly stole around Rs 5 lakh worth of jewellery and Rs 75,000 in cash from another house. That incident was also captured on CCTV.

With two thefts reported within days, police are examining footage from both cases to determine whether the incidents are connected. Teams are questioning local residents and working to identify and arrest those responsible.

A tanker carrying vegetable ghee overturned on the Delhi-Lucknow Highway in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad on Wednesday, spilling a large quantity of ghee across the road. The accident happened at around noon near the Ramganga bridge in the Katghar police station area. The tanker was travelling from Haryana to Rudrapur in Uttarakhand when the accident took place. According to Moradabad SP City Ran Vijay Singh, the driver tried to avoid a person crossing the road on the bridge. The tanker then went out of control, broke through the divider and overturned on the other side of the highway.

Locals gather with buckets and containers

The spill quickly attracted people from nearby areas. Several locals were seen rushing towards the tanker and collecting the vegetable ghee that had spread across the road.

A video from the spot shows people carrying buckets, cans and other containers as they gathered the spilled material. Some were also seen picking up thick pieces of ghee from the road and putting them into their containers.

The visuals have since circulated on social media, triggering a range of reactions. Some users joked about the incident, while others questioned why people were collecting a product that had fallen on a busy highway. Comments also included claims that the material was palm oil or not genuine ghee, although such claims were not established by police.

Police clear highway after accident

The accident also caused vehicles to stop around the spot as people gathered to watch and record the incident. Police reached the location soon after receiving information and worked to control the crowd and clear the road.

A crane was brought in to lift and remove the overturned tanker. Police also arranged for the spilled ghee and debris to be cleared from the highway.

According to SP City Ran Vijay Singh, as reported by Dainik Bhaskar, no one was injured in the accident. Once the tanker was removed and the road was cleaned, traffic on the Delhi-Lucknow Highway was restored to normal.

The video of people collecting the spilled ghee has prompted sarcastic comments online. Some users joked about waiting for a “bank vehicle” to overturn, while others criticised the people who rushed to collect the material.

One post simply described the scene as “Ghee Chori”, while another user wrote, “We are doomed as a country.” The contrasting reactions have added another layer to the viral video.
