A simple meeting that changed everything

Eniyavan’s life took a turning point in an unexpected way. Years ago, when he was working as an auto-rickshaw driver, he once picked up a passenger carrying a large container of idli batter. Her name was Chandra, and she supplied idlis to local eateries. Watching her work gave him a new idea. He realised that the idli business could be started by anyone with simple resources.

This moment inspired him to try something new, according to an article published in Indian Express.

From struggle to starting his own business

Eniyavan came to Chennai in 1997 at the age of 27, hoping to build a better life and escape poverty. He tried different small jobs before becoming an auto driver. Inspired by Chandra, he decided to start making and selling idlis from his home in RK Nagar.

However, his journey was not easy. On the very first day of his business, heavy rains flooded his house. The water entered his kitchen, damaged his idli steamer and spoiled the batter.

Despite this setback, he did not give up. He repaired his equipment over the next 20 days and restarted his work with determination.

Adding creativity to a simple dish

What made Eniyavan stand out was his creativity. He did not want idli to remain just a basic breakfast item. The idea of innovation started at home. When his daughter asked for pizza, he created an idli version of it by adding vegetables and spices to the batter. She loved it.

This encouraged him to try more ideas. He made chocolate idlis, pudina (mint) idlis and even beetroot idlis to make food more interesting for his children. He also experimented with ingredients. For example, he used tender coconut water instead of plain water while preparing the batter, making the idlis both tasty and healthy.

Taking idli to a bigger stage

His passion kept growing. In 2012, his catering company designed special heart-shaped idli plates on February 14. Later, he organised a unique event where he displayed 1,000 different varieties of idlis at Vivekananda Vidyalaya Junior College.

The event attracted around 14,000 people and received wide attention. Many were surprised to see how a simple idli could be turned into so many forms.

This event became a major step in promoting idli on a larger scale.

A 25-year-old man died on Sunday, five days after he was brutally attacked with iron rods and sticks in Hyderabad, Telangana. Police said he was assaulted when he went to help his brother following a dispute in the Mailardevpally area.

The deceased has been identified as Syed Muzammil Hashmi. He had been undergoing treatment in hospital since the attack and was in critical condition until his death.

According to police, the trouble started on February 17. A man allegedly called another person to his house to 'discuss an issue about using an email account', as reported by NDTV. During the meeting, those who arrived were reportedly beaten by a group of people. They managed to escape and informed others about the assault.

After learning about the incident, Muzammil, along with his friends, went to the same house to question those involved in the earlier attack on his brother.

Investigators said Muzammil was then attacked by a group of men, some of whom are alleged to be local leaders. He was beaten with iron rods and sticks, which caused severe injuries. Police also said that the attackers damaged the vehicles used by Muzammil and his friends.

Muzammil and two others were rushed to hospital. While the other injured persons survived, Muzammil remained critical and later died during treatment on Sunday.

Following his death, police upgraded the case from attempt to murder to murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Officials confirmed that a detailed investigation is in progress.

Spread across six acres, the building is designed to handle strong earthquakes as strong as magnitude 7.5 on the Richter scale, adding to its suitability for high-level meetings.

Because of its security and location, it is often used for sensitive diplomatic talks.

The main goal of the Islamabad meeting is to strengthen the current ceasefire and prevent further conflict in West Asia.

Discussions are expected to focus on key issues such as sanctions on Iran, regional security concerns and Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes.

Kozhikode NSS Camp Case: Teacher on the Run After Sexual Harassment Complaint

A government school teacher in Kerala's Kozhikode accused of sexually harassing female students during a National Service Scheme (NSS) camp is currently absconding. Police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused, following complaints from multiple students.

The incident came to light after female students revealed their trauma during a counselling session held days after the NSS camp. The students told authorities that the teacher had behaved inappropriately and sexually harassed them during the camp activities.

According to the complaint, the teacher repeatedly touched the students inappropriately. Three female students have formally lodged complaints, detailing the sexual assault they allegedly faced during the camp.

In addition, another student, who did not attend the NSS camp, later informed authorities that she had faced similar behaviour from the same teacher earlier. This strengthened the case against him.

Teacher identified, case registered under POCSO

Police have identified the accused as Mohammed Ismail, aged 45, a native of Koduvally who was staying at Pookode. He joined the government higher secondary school last year and was in charge of the school’s NSS unit.

The Thamarassery police registered a case against him under Sections 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police said the student’s statement was recorded in detail before registering the case.

Accused absconding, police search continues

After the case was registered, the accused teacher reportedly went into hiding. Police confirmed that he has been absconding since then and efforts are under way to trace and arrest him.

Officials said further action would be taken once the accused is taken into custody. Authorities have also assured that steps will be taken to support the affected students and ensure their safety.

Prameela said a complaint was lodged with the District Superintendent of Police regarding the woman’s conduct.

Based on her complaint, the Railway Koduru police registered a case against the woman on January 7.

Inspector Chandrasekhar confirmed that a case had been registered and said action would be taken according to law if the woman was found guilty.

She cited several recent incidents involving ruling party leaders and claimed that no strong action had been taken so far.

Questioning the silence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, the Home Minister and the Speaker, Kalyani asked whether their statements on women’s safety were merely “cinema dialogues”.

Demands for arrest and action

Kalyani demanded that police register a suo motu case against Arava Sridhar. She also called for his immediate arrest, suspension from the Jana Sena Party and disqualification as an MLA.

She urged the Women’s Commission to take suo motu cognisance of the matter.

Officials said a similar incident occurred on January 23. The mother allegedly gave sleeping pills again and asked her boyfriend to repeat the act. This time, the young woman reportedly regained consciousness during the assault. She screamed and resisted, but police said her mother threatened her and locked her inside a room.

Escape and medical examination

On February 9, the survivor managed to escape from the house and reached relatives in Tiruvannamalai. She told them about the incidents. As she was suffering from severe stomach pain, her relatives took her to hospital for treatment.

Doctors confirmed that she was pregnant. With her consent, a medical termination of pregnancy was carried out. Police said the pregnancy was about seven weeks old.

The case first came to light after the woman was admitted to Cheyyar Government Hospital. Based on hospital information, the Cheyyar Women’s Police registered a Zero FIR. Since the alleged crimes occurred in Vadapalani, the case was transferred to the Vadapalani Women’s Police Station.

What happened in June 2020?

According to the investigation, Jayaraj, a trader, was picked up by police on June 19, 2020. He was allegedly detained for violating lockdown rules, though later findings suggested he had not broken any rule.

When his son Benicks went to the police station to question the police action, he was also detained.

Both were then kept inside the police station through the night.

Allegations of brutal torture

He added in his post that Senthilnathan's speech cannot be justified in any manner whatsoever.

"Political differences of opinion are the nature of democracy. However, in a situation where one cannot respond to an opinion with another opinion, using language that degrades women's dignity as a weapon only reveals the decline of political decency. The mindset of viewing women not through their labor, talent, and social service, but solely through a sexual lens is dangerous to society itself," he wrote in his X post.

VV Senthilnathan denied any vulgar intent. He said his words were taken out of context and insisted he did not speak in a derogatory manner. He refused to apologise and instead said the MP should apologise for what he claimed was an insult to the country.

Kerala Cyber Police Arrest Man in Rs 8.08 Crore Online Trading Scam

The Alappuzha Cyber Crime Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a large online share trading fraud in which an elderly man was cheated of ₹8.08 crore. The accused contacted the victim through WhatsApp, pretending to be a representative of a reputed share trading company.

The arrest has brought attention to the rising number of cyber frauds linked to fake investment apps and social media platforms. The arrested accused has been identified as Bharathikannan Angamuthu (23), a native of Salem, Tamil Nadu. He is an automobile engineering graduate.

Police said Bharathikannan played a key role in gaining the victim’s trust and diverting large sums of money through multiple bank transactions.

How the fraud was carried out

According to police, the fraud began with a WhatsApp call, during which the accused convinced the elderly man that he was an authorised share trading expert. The victim was then asked to install a fake mobile application named “RARCII”.

The app displayed false profit figures, making it appear that the investments were growing rapidly. To further mislead the victim, the accused added him to a WhatsApp group named “C778 Reliance Capital Innovators Hub”, where fake messages claimed that other members were earning huge profits.

Between September 24 and December 20, the victim transferred money in 73 separate transactions.

Service charge trick and company link

When the victim later attempted to withdraw the so-called profits, the fraudsters demanded additional money, claiming it was a mandatory service charge. This led to further losses.

Police revealed that the accused had started a private firm named Valiant Strive Corporation Private Limited in Salem along with his classmate Sabareesh Sekhar. The victim was made to transfer ₹35.5 lakh directly into the company’s current account.

Co-accused already in jail

The second accused, Sabareesh Sekhar, is currently lodged in Trichy Central Jail in connection with a similar cyber fraud case. The Alappuzha Cyber Crime Police confirmed that he will be formally taken into custody in this case as well.

Investigation across multiple states

Police said the fraud involved bank accounts spread across several states, making the investigation complex. Financial trails are being examined with the help of banks and cyber experts.

Authorities confirmed that a charge sheet will be filed within three months.

Police warning to the public

The Cyber Crime Police issued a strong warning, stating that nearly 90 percent of trading tips shared on social media are fake. They also clarified that share trading cannot be done without a valid Demat account.

People have been advised to avoid unknown calls, WhatsApp investment groups, and unverified mobile apps.

He said the film falsely suggests that Indira Gandhi witnessed violent incidents and accepted signatures against Hindi imposition, which, according to him, never happened. “None of these events ever took place in history,” he said.

Serious allegation over Pollachi killings

Bhaskar also objected to the film’s climax, which flashes real photographs of Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and K Kamaraj. He claimed the film accuses the Congress of shooting and killing more than 200 Tamil people in Pollachi.

Calling this allegation extremely serious, he said there is no evidence to support such a claim. He accused the filmmakers of irresponsibly using real historical figures to push false accusations.
