March 30 is celebrated as World Idli Day, a special day dedicated to one of India's most loved breakfast dishes. The day was first celebrated in 2015 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. What makes it even more interesting is the story of the man behind it - M Eniyavan. His journey is not just about food, but also about hard work, creativity and never giving up.

    View this post on Instagram
A post shared by Eniyavanidly (@eniyavanidly)

    View this post on Instagram
A post shared by Eniyavanidly (@eniyavanidly)

A simple meeting that changed everything

Eniyavan’s life took a turning point in an unexpected way. Years ago, when he was working as an auto-rickshaw driver, he once picked up a passenger carrying a large container of idli batter. Her name was Chandra, and she supplied idlis to local eateries. Watching her work gave him a new idea. He realised that the idli business could be started by anyone with simple resources.

This moment inspired him to try something new, according to an article published in Indian Express.

Also Read: Valmiki Became 'Sultan' To Escape Law, But After 21 Years On The Run, Police Finally Catch Up

From struggle to starting his own business

Eniyavan came to Chennai in 1997 at the age of 27, hoping to build a better life and escape poverty. He tried different small jobs before becoming an auto driver. Inspired by Chandra, he decided to start making and selling idlis from his home in RK Nagar.

However, his journey was not easy. On the very first day of his business, heavy rains flooded his house. The water entered his kitchen, damaged his idli steamer and spoiled the batter.

Despite this setback, he did not give up. He repaired his equipment over the next 20 days and restarted his work with determination.

Adding creativity to a simple dish

What made Eniyavan stand out was his creativity. He did not want idli to remain just a basic breakfast item. The idea of innovation started at home. When his daughter asked for pizza, he created an idli version of it by adding vegetables and spices to the batter. She loved it.

This encouraged him to try more ideas. He made chocolate idlis, pudina (mint) idlis and even beetroot idlis to make food more interesting for his children. He also experimented with ingredients. For example, he used tender coconut water instead of plain water while preparing the batter, making the idlis both tasty and healthy.

    View this post on Instagram
A post shared by Eniyavanidly (@eniyavanidly)

    View this post on Instagram
A post shared by Eniyavanidly (@eniyavanidly)

Taking idli to a bigger stage

His passion kept growing. In 2012, his catering company designed special heart-shaped idli plates on February 14. Later, he organised a unique event where he displayed 1,000 different varieties of idlis at Vivekananda Vidyalaya Junior College.

The event attracted around 14,000 people and received wide attention. Many were surprised to see how a simple idli could be turned into so many forms.

This event became a major step in promoting idli on a larger scale.

Also Read: 'It Was My First Accident': Jaipur Woman Says Sorry After Damaging Motorcycle in Viral Video (WATCH)

How world idli day was born

Impressed by his efforts, Rajamani, president of Samayal Sangam, declared March 30 as World Idli Day. The first celebration took place in 2015 in Chennai. Since then, the day has been observed every year, with people celebrating the taste and comfort of idlis.

Eniyavan believes idli is not just food, but an emotion. He says it is so soft and comforting that even babies who refuse milk can be fed mashed idlis.

A life changed by passion

Eniyavan’s life has changed completely over the years. From struggling to survive, he now travels, stays in good hotels and is invited to speak at colleges. He has also built a better life for his family and educated his children.

Looking ahead, he plans to expand his business further by opening hotels across Chennai. His goal is to make idli recognised not just as a breakfast item, but as a global food.

    View this post on Instagram
A post shared by Eniyavanidly (@eniyavanidly)

A story that inspires

Eniyavan’s journey shows how a simple idea and strong determination can change a person’s life. From a chance meeting to creating a global food day, his story continues to inspire many.

On World Idli Day, his journey reminds us that even the simplest things can achieve great success.

Sahil Reddy, son of Y.S. Sunil Reddy and nephew of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, married Vedika on February 7, 2026, at Chennai’s Leela Palace. Educated in Chennai and the US, he is Founder and CEO of Bubbl.cards.

Sahil Reddy has recently come into the public spotlight after his grand wedding in Chennai drew some of the biggest names from politics, cinema and business. While the event was a private family celebration, the guest list and viral photos quickly made people curious about who he is and why his wedding became such a widely discussed occasion.

Sahil Reddy is known as a young entrepreneur from a well-connected political family. He is the son of Y.S. Sunil Reddy, who is part of the extended family of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and YSR Congress Party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Because of these strong family links, Sahil belongs to a circle that has influence in both political and business spaces.

Sahil Reddy married Vedika in a grand ceremony held on February 7, 2026, at the luxury Leela Palace Hotel in Chennai. The wedding quickly became a major talking point on social media after pictures and videos from the event went viral.

The function was not just a family gathering. It turned into a high-profile event because several powerful personalities were present under one roof. Among those seen at the wedding were:

Actor-politician Thalapathy Vijay, chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)

YSR Congress Party chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin

Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin

Actor Suriya

Images of these leaders greeting each other warmly created a buzz online. Many people began asking whose wedding could bring together such a mix of political leaders, film stars and business figures.

To understand Sahil Reddy’s profile, it is important to look at his family roots.

His father, Y.S. Sunil Reddy, is the son of the late Y.S. George Reddy. George Reddy was the brother of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who remains a very influential political figure in the state’s history.

Because of this family line:

Sunil Reddy is a cousin of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy

Sahil Reddy is therefore Jagan Mohan Reddy’s nephew

Over the years, Sunil Reddy has been seen as a close associate and trusted person within the family network. He has reportedly played behind-the-scenes roles in business coordination and political support during important phases, including the period around Jagan’s Odarpu Yatra.

These links explain why senior political leaders attended the wedding and why the event received such wide attention.

Sahil Reddy represents a younger generation from this influential family. His education shows a mix of Indian and international exposure.

He studied in Chennai at Sishya School, which is known for its strong academic environment. Later, he moved to the United States for higher studies. He completed a BBA in Entrepreneurship from DePaul University.

This academic background helped shape his interest in business and technology. People who know his professional journey say he has been keen on building ventures connected to modern digital tools.

At present, Sahil Reddy is the Founder and CEO of Bubbl.cards, a Chennai-based tech venture. The company is part of the growing digital networking and business solutions space.

Before starting his own venture, he also worked as a social media manager in the commercial real estate sector. This experience gave him exposure to marketing, branding and digital communication.

Because of his work, Sahil is considered well-connected in business and social circles in Chennai and beyond. Many observers describe him as part of a new generation of entrepreneurs who combine family legacy with modern business ideas.

The scale of the guest list turned the wedding into more than a personal celebration. It became a meeting point of politics, cinema and business. Visuals showed:

Jagan Mohan Reddy greeting M.K. Stalin warmly

Vijay interacting with guests and posing for selfies with fans

Senior leaders and film personalities present at the same venue

Such rare public appearances together naturally sparked curiosity and discussion online. The event highlighted how social and family occasions in influential families often become major public moments.

Vijay’s presence and the Jana Nayagan row

Actor-politician Vijay attending the wedding added another layer of attention. His appearance came at a time when his film Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, is facing a certification issue.

The film was originally planned for release on January 9 but is currently awaiting clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The Madras High Court had earlier set aside a direction related to certification and sent the matter back to a lower bench. So far:

Neither the producers, KVN Productions, nor the CBFC have issued public statements

The CBFC has filed a caveat in the Supreme Court

The film may go to a revising committee

The board has told the court that the film contains violence, religious elements and army-related scenes that require expert review. The project is widely believed to be Vijay’s last film before he formally steps into active politics ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Because of this ongoing row, Vijay’s public appearance at the wedding quickly went viral.

Sahil Reddy’s profile shows how family legacy, education and business ambition can come together. While he is not a politician, his close links to one of Andhra Pradesh’s most influential political families naturally place him in public attention.

At the same time, his work as a startup founder reflects a shift towards technology and entrepreneurship among younger members of established political families.

The Chennai wedding brought these layers together, family, politics, cinema and business, all in one setting.

Pakistan is hosting key US-Iran talks at Islamabad Serena Hotel to boost a fragile ceasefire and prevent further Middle East conflict. The hotel has been turned into high-security zone. Discussions will focus on sanctions, security and nuclear issues

Pakistan is set to play a key diplomatic role as it hosts important talks between United States and Iran. The meeting is planned for Friday in Islamabad and aims to reduce tensions in the Middle East.

The talks come after a fragile two-week ceasefire agreed earlier this week. Both sides are now trying to turn that temporary pause into a more stable and long-term peace plan.

The venue for these high-level talks is the Islamabad Serena Hotel. The hotel has been taken over by the government to host the delegations and meetings.

A notice issued on April 8 asked all guests to check out by 5 pm. The hotel said it had been requisitioned for an 'important event' until Sunday evening. Guests were offered help in finding other accommodation.

This move has turned the luxury hotel into a high-security diplomatic zone.

The Islamabad Serena Hotel is one of the city’s top five-star properties. It is located close to the diplomatic enclave, making it easy for officials to reach government buildings and embassies.

The hotel is known for hosting major international events and visiting delegations. It has around 387 rooms, conference halls and several dining spaces.

Set near the Margalla Hills and Rawal Lake, the hotel combines traditional design with modern facilities. It is also part of the Serena Hotels group and is recognised globally.

The hotel was opened in 2002 by former President Pervez Musharraf. It is managed by Tourism Promotion Services Ltd, with support from the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development.

Spread across six acres, the building is designed to handle strong earthquakes as strong as magnitude 7.5 on the Richter scale, adding to its suitability for high-level meetings.

Because of its security and location, it is often used for sensitive diplomatic talks.

What the talks aim to achieve

The main goal of the Islamabad meeting is to strengthen the current ceasefire and prevent further conflict in West Asia.

Discussions are expected to focus on key issues such as sanctions on Iran, regional security concerns and Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes.

Iran is also expected to push for guarantees against future attacks and arrangements related to the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, confirmed that Tehran will take part in the talks. He said Iran remains cautious due to concerns over ceasefire violations but is ready for 'serious talks'.

The US delegation is expected to be led by JD Vance, with senior officials also attending. However, exact arrival details have not been shared.

Both sides are expected to reach Islamabad by Thursday night, with talks planned for Friday.

Pakistan's diplomatic efforts

Pakistan has taken an active role in bringing both sides together. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Army Chief Asim Munir, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar have all worked on this effort.

Dar has also contacted leaders in countries like Saudi Arabia, Canada and Kuwait to gather wider support for the peace process.

Tight security across Islamabad

Security in Islamabad has been increased sharply ahead of the talks. Authorities have declared a two-day local holiday to reduce movement in the city.

The Red Zone has been sealed, and traffic diversions are in place on major roads, including the Express Highway.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi assured full security for visiting officials. A US advance team has already arrived to check arrangements.

Hospitals and emergency services have also been placed on alert.

Even with this diplomatic push, trust between the US and Iran remains low. Iran has raised concerns about possible ceasefire violations, especially in Lebanon.

Past experiences have also made Tehran cautious, as earlier talks were followed by fresh tensions.

Still, both sides appear willing to engage, raising hopes that the Islamabad meeting could lead to progress.

A crucial moment for peace

The upcoming talks in Islamabad are being closely watched around the world. If successful, they could help reduce tensions in the Middle East and stabilise global markets.

For now, the Islamabad Serena Hotel has become more than just a luxury space. It is a key location where major decisions about peace and conflict could be shaped.

A government school teacher in Kerala's Kozhikode accused of sexually harassing female students during a National Service Scheme (NSS) camp is currently absconding. Police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused, following complaints from multiple students.

The incident came to light after female students revealed their trauma during a counselling session held days after the NSS camp. The students told authorities that the teacher had behaved inappropriately and sexually harassed them during the camp activities.

Students speak up during counselling session

According to the complaint, the teacher repeatedly touched the students inappropriately. Three female students have formally lodged complaints, detailing the sexual assault they allegedly faced during the camp.

In addition, another student, who did not attend the NSS camp, later informed authorities that she had faced similar behaviour from the same teacher earlier. This strengthened the case against him.

Teacher identified, case registered under POCSO

Police have identified the accused as Mohammed Ismail, aged 45, a native of Koduvally who was staying at Pookode. He joined the government higher secondary school last year and was in charge of the school’s NSS unit.

The Thamarassery police registered a case against him under Sections 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police said the student’s statement was recorded in detail before registering the case.

Accused absconding, police search continues

After the case was registered, the accused teacher reportedly went into hiding. Police confirmed that he has been absconding since then and efforts are under way to trace and arrest him.

Officials said further action would be taken once the accused is taken into custody. Authorities have also assured that steps will be taken to support the affected students and ensure their safety.

A case has been registered against Railway Koduru Jana Sena MLA Arava Sridhar after a woman accused him of sexual harassment and abuse over 18 months. She released videos, chats and an audio clip, while the MLA’s family denied the allegations.

A case has been registered against Railway Koduru Jana Sena Party (JSP) MLA Arava Sridhar after a woman government employee accused him of sexual harassment, physical abuse and sustained mental torture over nearly one-and-a-half years.

Police confirmed on Wednesday that an investigation is underway. The case was registered following a complaint by the woman, who alleged that the legislator misused his position and influence to harass and exploit her.

The developments have triggered a major political controversy in Andhra Pradesh and put the TDP-led NDA government under pressure.

According to the complaint, the woman alleged that Arava Sridhar deceived her by making false promises of marriage. She claimed that over a long period, the MLA subjected her to repeated physical abuse, harassment and improper conduct.

The woman, who works as a state government employee, came out in public with her allegations. She said she suffered in silence for nearly one-and-a-half years before deciding to seek justice.

She alleged that the MLA’s actions damaged her dignity and personal life and left her emotionally distressed.

To support her claims, the woman released intimate videos and WhatsApp chat records. These were widely shared on social media and quickly drew public attention.

Later, an audio recording, reportedly of the woman, also went viral. In the audio, she alleged that the MLA sexually exploited her for about 18 months and subjected her to continuous torture.

#AravaSridhar #JanasenaParty #AndhraPradesh #Rajnews pic.twitter.com/7LEGMCaCNR

— Raj News Telugu Official (@rajnewsdigital) January 27, 2026

She claimed that the legislator forced her to communicate only through the Telegram app. She alleged that he demanded nude video calls and made repeated inappropriate demands.

జనసేన ఎమ్మెల్యే అరవ శ్రీధర్‌పై మహిళ సంచలన ఆరోపణలు! #JanaSena #AravaSridhar #APPolitics #BreakingNews #PoliticalControversy #TeluguNews #ViralNews #AndhraPradesh #PublicIssue #TrendingNews #PoliticalNews #TeluguMedia #LatestNews pic.twitter.com/8PsOMhzA5P

— Jana tanthram (@janatanthram) January 27, 2026

According to her, whenever she objected or questioned the behaviour, the pressure increased.

The woman further alleged that Arava Sridhar threatened to block her request for a job transfer from Railway Koduru. She claimed that he warned her about possible department-level inquiries.

She also alleged that the MLA repeatedly reminded her that she was living alone with her young son. She said this was used to intimidate her and keep her silent.

In the audio clip, the woman further alleged that the MLA threatened her husband and pressured him to divorce her.

Allegations of forced abortions

One of the most serious allegations made by the woman is that she became pregnant five times during the relationship and was forced to terminate each pregnancy.

She claimed these abortions were not voluntary and were done under pressure. These allegations have intensified the public debate and political reactions across the state.

Family separation and alleged exploitation

The woman alleged that due to threats and pressure, her husband later took their son away. She claimed she has been living alone for the past one-and-a-half years.

She further alleged that the MLA took advantage of her isolation and continued to exploit her.

#AravaSridhar #JanasenaParty #AndhraPradesh #Rajnews pic.twitter.com/7LEGMCaCNR

— Raj News Telugu Official (@rajnewsdigital) January 27, 2026

According to her statement, on January 7, Arava Sridhar clearly refused to marry her and asked her to “get lost”.

Letter to Chief Minister seeking justice

The woman also wrote a letter to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. His mother, Prameela, rejected the claims and accused the woman of deliberately defaming her son.

Speaking to the media, Prameela said her son had only helped the woman and had not committed any wrongdoing.

She alleged that the woman got close to her son by using their shared caste identity as a pretext. She claimed that the woman frequently visited their house, often late at night, and harassed the family.

Prameela further alleged that the woman repeatedly called her son at odd hours, day and night. She claimed the woman later blackmailed her son by insisting on marriage.

She alleged that the woman trapped her son with what she described as “honey-laced words” and ruined his peace of mind.

According to Prameela, the family could no longer tolerate the alleged harassment and decided to approach the police.

Prameela said a complaint was lodged with the District Superintendent of Police regarding the woman’s conduct.

Based on her complaint, the Railway Koduru police registered a case against the woman on January 7.

Inspector Chandrasekhar confirmed that a case had been registered and said action would be taken according to law if the woman was found guilty.

Political reactions intensify

The issue triggered sharp political reactions, especially from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).

YSRCP Women’s Wing State President and MLC Varudu Kalyani strongly condemned the alleged actions of the Jana Sena MLA.

Speaking to the media at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, Kalyani accused the coalition government of failing to protect women.

YSRCP alleges abuse of power

Kalyani alleged that the survivor had spoken about being trapped, repeatedly raped, threatened, assaulted and mentally tortured for nearly one-and-a-half years.

She claimed the woman was forced into abortions and terrorised with threats to her child.

Referring to the circulation of videos linked to the case, Kalyani said the developments had shocked the state and exposed what she described as ruling coalition leaders “playing with women’s lives”.

Questions raised at top leadership

The YSRCP leader accused the government of police inaction and filing false cases against victims, which she said had emboldened perpetrators.

She cited several recent incidents involving ruling party leaders and claimed that no strong action had been taken so far.

Questioning the silence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, the Home Minister and the Speaker, Kalyani asked whether their statements on women’s safety were merely “cinema dialogues”.

Demands for arrest and action

Kalyani demanded that police register a suo motu case against Arava Sridhar. She also called for his immediate arrest, suspension from the Jana Sena Party and disqualification as an MLA.

She urged the Women’s Commission to take suo motu cognisance of the matter.

Asserting that the YSRCP would stand firmly with the survivor, Kalyani said the party would continue its fight until justice is delivered.

Koduru police confirmed that a case has been registered and that an investigation is in progress.

Officials said no conclusions have been reached yet and that all allegations and counter-allegations will be examined as per the law.

(With inputs from agencies)

A woman in Chennai is accused of drugging her daughter and allowing her boyfriend to sexually assault her. The woman escaped in February and informed relatives. Doctors confirmed a 7-week pregnancy and performed a medical termination with consent.

A deeply disturbing case has emerged from Tamil Nadu's Chennai, where a mother is accused of giving sleeping pills to her 20-year-old daughter and allowing her 50-year-old boyfriend to sexually assault her. The incidents allegedly took place in the Saligramam area, according to a report by Indian Express. Police have registered a case and started a detailed investigation.

Alleged affair and family conflict

According to the police, the woman’s husband works as a security guard in a private company and returns home only once a week. Investigators said the woman began an illicit relationship during this time and often invited her boyfriend to their house.

Police said the daughter strongly objected to her mother's behaviour and warned her several times. Over time, tensions grew and the daughter stopped speaking to her mother.

Police said the situation turned serious on January 3. The daughter was unwell that day. Investigators allege the mother gave her sleeping pills and called her boyfriend to the house. While the young woman was unconscious, the man allegedly sexually assaulted her.

Second incident and confinement

Officials said a similar incident occurred on January 23. The mother allegedly gave sleeping pills again and asked her boyfriend to repeat the act. This time, the young woman reportedly regained consciousness during the assault. She screamed and resisted, but police said her mother threatened her and locked her inside a room.

Escape and medical examination

On February 9, the survivor managed to escape from the house and reached relatives in Tiruvannamalai. She told them about the incidents. As she was suffering from severe stomach pain, her relatives took her to hospital for treatment.

Doctors confirmed that she was pregnant. With her consent, a medical termination of pregnancy was carried out. Police said the pregnancy was about seven weeks old.

The case first came to light after the woman was admitted to Cheyyar Government Hospital. Based on hospital information, the Cheyyar Women’s Police registered a Zero FIR. Since the alleged crimes occurred in Vadapalani, the case was transferred to the Vadapalani Women’s Police Station.

A complaint has been filed against the mother and her boyfriend, identified as Dakshinamurthy. Police said a full investigation is underway and further legal action will follow based on evidence.

The Thoothukudi custodial death case is one of the most shocking police brutality cases in India in recent years. It involves the deaths of a father and son, P Jayaraj and J Benicks (also spelled Bennix/Benniks), who died after being brutally assaulted in police custody in June 2020. The incident happened in Sattankulam town in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi district during the Covid-19 lockdown. The case later became a major national issue, raising serious questions about police behaviour and accountability.

Why is the case back in news now?

Nearly six years after the incident, a court in Madurai has delivered a strong verdict. On April 6, 2026, the First Additional District and Sessions Court sentenced nine policemen to death.

Judge G Muthukumaran awarded the death penalty after finding all nine guilty of the double murder. This includes an inspector, sub-inspectors, head constables and constables. The name of the convicts are:

Sreedhar

Balakrishnan

Raghu Ganesh

Murugan

Muthu Raja

Samadurai

Chelladurai

Thomas Francis

Veilumuthu

Another accused, a special sub-inspector, had died in 2020 due to Covid-19.

— Bhadohi Wallah (@Mithileshdhar) April 6, 2026

What happened in June 2020?

According to the investigation, Jayaraj, a trader, was picked up by police on June 19, 2020. He was allegedly detained for violating lockdown rules, though later findings suggested he had not broken any rule.

When his son Benicks went to the police station to question the police action, he was also detained.

Both were then kept inside the police station through the night.

Allegations of brutal torture

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said the father and son were severely beaten in custody. The assault continued for hours. The chargesheet said the accused policemen acted together in a planned way. The violence was allegedly meant to “teach them a lesson”.

Investigators said the two were forced to clean their own blood. Later, a sanitation worker was asked to clean the blood from the station floor to remove evidence.

What happened after the assault?

Despite their serious injuries, a false case was registered against the father and son. Police also managed to get a 'fit for remand' certificate, even though both were badly hurt, reported Indian Express.

They were then sent to judicial custody.

Eyewitness accounts said their clothes were soaked in blood. Family members who saw them were shocked at their condition.

Magistrate remand controversy

One of the most disturbing parts of the case was how they were remanded. According to family members, the two were not properly examined by the magistrate.

They were reportedly made to stand at a distance, and the magistrate remanded them with a simple gesture from upstairs. This raised serious concerns about how injured persons were sent into custody without proper checks.

Deaths in custody

After being sent to jail, their health worsened. Benicks died on June 22, 2020, due to heavy bleeding and injuries. Jayaraj died the next day.

Their deaths caused shock and anger across Tamil Nadu and the country.

Public outrage and court action

The incident led to widespread protests. Traders shut shops, and human rights groups demanded justice.

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court took suo motu action on June 24, 2020. The court ordered an inquiry and expressed lack of trust in the local police.

Initially, the CB-CID handled the case, but it was later handed over to the CBI.

Investigation findings

The judicial magistrate who inspected the police station said officers did not cooperate and tried to create fear.

Important records were delayed, and CCTV footage from the day was missing, even though storage was available.

A woman head constable later told the court that the father and son were tortured through the night. Her statement became a key piece of evidence.

Long trial and delays

In March 2021, the High Court asked for a fast trial. However, the case continued for years due to various reasons, including staff shortages and repeated delays. By 2025, many key witnesses had been examined over several hearings.

One of the accused even tried to turn approver, but the request was rejected.

Final verdict and its impact

On March 23, 2026, the court found all nine policemen guilty. Soon after, on April 6, the death penalty was announced. The verdict is seen as a strong message against custodial violence. It shows that even police officials can be held accountable under the law.

The Thoothukudi custodial death case is important because it exposed serious issues in the system. It showed how power can be misused and why strict checks are needed. The case also highlighted the role of courts, investigators, and witnesses in ensuring justice.

The verdict brings some closure, but it also raises a larger question, i.e. how to prevent such incidents in the future.

CM Pinarayi Vijayan proposed renaming Kerala to “Keralam” to match the state's original Malayalam name and protect its linguistic and cultural identity. He said the English form “Kerala” does not fully represent the region’s history or language.

The Union Cabinet has approved the Kerala government’s proposal to rename Kerala as 'Keralam'. The proposal, first introduced in the state assembly in 2024 by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, now moves forward in the constitutional process. If all legal steps are completed, 'Keralam' will become the official name used in the Constitution and in all government records.

The change requires an amendment to the First Schedule of the Constitution under Article 3. After approval by the Parliament of India and assent by the President of India, the new name will apply across all languages listed in the Eighth Schedule.

The main reason given by the state government is linguistic and cultural identity. Vijayan said the land has always been called “Keralam” in Malayalam, the state’s primary language. However, in English and in the Constitution, the name appears as “Kerala”.

He argued that the English form does not fully reflect the state’s true name, history and language. The proposal seeks to align the official name with the Malayalam form so that the state’s cultural identity is properly represented. The government also asked that the Malayalam form be used consistently across all official languages recognised by the Constitution.

Supporters say many places in India have adopted names closer to local pronunciation and heritage. They view the change as a symbolic step to protect language and tradition.

The decision has gained attention as the state prepares for assembly elections due before May 2026. The 140-member assembly will go to polls next year, and the name change has become part of public debate.

Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar supported the proposal, saying it highlights the state’s cultural roots. Political leaders across parties have discussed the move in the context of identity and heritage.

After Cabinet approval, the formal amendment process begins. The Central government will introduce the required change under Article 3. Parliament must pass the amendment. Finally, the President’s assent will make the change official. Once notified, all administrative, legal and cultural references will use “Keralam”.

Public discussion over residents’ name

The proposal has also sparked debate about what residents would be called in English. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor noted that words like 'Keralite' and 'Keralan' are widely used and asked what terms would apply if the state becomes 'Keralam'.

All to the good, no doubt, but a small linguistic question for the Anglophones among us: what happens now to the terms “Keralite” and “Keralan” for the denizens of the new “Keralam”? “Keralamite” sounds like a microbe and “Keralamian” like a rare earth mineral…! @CMOKerala might…

— Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) February 24, 2026

He suggested a public discussion or competition to decide suitable terminology.

Though legal steps remain, the Cabinet’s approval has intensified discussion on language pride and identity. Supporters believe the move strengthens cultural recognition.

A CCTV video from a wine shop in Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh, showing a woman arguing with staff and assaulting a worker, has gone viral. The incident occurred on January 22 around 9:40 pm. Conflicting claims exist over what triggered the outburst.

An incident at a wine shop in Bapatla town of Andhra Pradesh has triggered wide discussion after a CCTV video went viral on social media. A young man working at the shop was allegedly assaulted by a woman, who later filed a police complaint against him.

Police have confirmed that they are investigating the matter from all sides. The incident reportedly took place at Srinivas Wines, located in the Peta area of Bapatla.

A young man working at a wine shop in #Bapatla, #AndhraPradesh, was allegedly assaulted by a woman, who later filed a police complaint against him.Authorities are investigating the incident, which has caused a stir in the town. pic.twitter.com/HLasZTUmRW

— Hate Detector (@HateDetectors) January 24, 2026

The viral CCTV footage shows a young woman entering the wine shop in an angry mood. The time stamp on the video reads January 22, 2026, at around 9:40 pm, which was a Thursday.

In the video, the woman is seen arguing with a man behind the counter. She throws a box from the counter in anger and then turns towards another man, scolding him strongly. The woman appears visibly upset and continues shouting inside the shop.

The footage further shows the woman grabbing one of the staff members and pulling him towards the outside of the shop. Moments later, an elderly man enters the frame and speaks to her. As there is no audio in the CCTV recording, the exact words exchanged are not known.

However, the visuals suggest that the elderly man may have some authority. He pushes the dragged man back into the shop and then points at the man behind the counter, as if questioning him about what happened.

The exact reason for the woman’s anger remains unclear. Some reports claim she became angry after being told that the liquor brand she asked for was out of stock.

Others present at the shop said the woman appeared drunk and demanded bottles of alcohol without paying. When the staff refused, the argument reportedly turned into a physical altercation. These claims have not yet been officially confirmed.

Police said a complaint has been registered and all angles are being examined. Statements from the shop staff and the woman involved are being recorded.

— Telugu Scribe (@TeluguScribe) January 24, 2026

Meanwhile, the video has gone massively viral on social media. One bus had stopped for pedestrians, blocking visibility, when another bus overtook at speed and hit the biker, who was not wearing a helmet.

A shocking road crash caught on CCTV in Salem, Tamil Nadu, has gone viral and sparked a heated public debate about road safety, speeding, and poor junction design. The footage is time-stamped February 16 at about 8:05 am.

Trigger Warning: Video below contains disturbing visuals. Viewers discretion is advised.

ஒரு நிமிடம் பொறுமையாதா நில்லுங்களேன்...அப்படி என்னதா அவசரம்... pic.twitter.com/Qm0ujpENhV

— Monkey (@Animalofficiall) February 16, 2026

It shows a man on a two-wheeler being crushed by a speeding bus within seconds, leaving bystanders stunned.

In the viral video, one bus is seen stopping near a junction to allow pedestrians and some bikers to cross the road. A man on a bike, who is not wearing a helmet, begins to cross from the front of the stopped bus. At that moment, another bus suddenly approaches fast from the right side. The moving bus overtakes near the junction and runs over the biker.

The entire incident happens in just a few seconds. People nearby appear shocked as the crash unfolds without warning. The speed of the second bus and the blocked view caused by the first bus seem to play a key role in the collision.

Many on X pointed out several risk factors. The biker did not wear a helmet. He crossed from in front of a stopped vehicle, which blocked his view of the road. At the same time, the second bus was travelling fast while overtaking near a junction, a situation many people described as extremely dangerous.

Several users stressed a basic road safety rule: never cross in front of or behind a large stopped vehicle because it creates a blind spot. Others noted that vehicles must slow down near intersections and crossings, especially when another bus is already stopped.

The viral video triggered hundreds of reactions online. Many people said the crash could have been avoided with a little patience and caution. Some blamed the biker for crossing without checking the lane properly. Others blamed the speeding bus driver for not slowing down near a busy junction.

Several users argued that both drivers made mistakes. They said the biker should have waited for a clear view before crossing, while the bus should not have overtaken at speed near an intersection.

A large number of comments focused on road design. Some users questioned why a bus stopped so close to a junction, saying this blocked visibility and increased risk. Many suggested bus stops should be located at least 100 feet after a crossing to prevent such incidents.

It's both mistake, bus also too fast at intersection, if it comes under 30-40 easily it could have been braked. And biker, don't cross the road blindly, always check before cross if any vehicles are incoming or not.

— SK (@shan8928) February 17, 2026

Others highlighted broader infrastructure issues, including lack of speed breakers, poor planning of bus stops at three-road or four-road junctions, and weak traffic enforcement. Some also criticised careless driving habits and lack of road safety awareness.

Calls for stricter safety practices

Road safety observers emphasised simple preventive steps: slow down near intersections, never overtake at crossings, always wear a helmet, and ensure a full view of traffic before crossing. Many users said such crashes are common and happen due to hurry and negligence.

Some also urged authorities to review junction safety, relocate bus stops away from crossings, and improve driver training and public awareness to prevent similar tragedies.

A political row has erupted after Congress mocked IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti over his past remarks on cow urine following his Padma Shri award. Zoho co-founder Sridhar Vembu defended Kamakoti, calling Cong's criticism 'slavish colonial mindset'.

A fresh political controversy has broken out on social media after the Congress party and Zoho co-founder Sridhar Vembu exchanged sharp remarks over claims related to cow urine and cow dung research. The dispute centres on the Padma Shri award given to IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti and his earlier statements on the alleged medicinal value of cow urine.

The row has quickly escalated into a public war of words on X, drawing reactions from political workers, scientists, and the wider public.

Congress mocks Padma Shri awardee V Kamakoti

The controversy began when the Kerala unit of the Congress party mocked IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti after he was awarded the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honours. The party highlighted Kamakoti’s past remarks on cow urine while speaking about indigenous knowledge systems and organic farming.

Congress shared a video of Kamakoti reacting to the award and sarcastically congratulated him for what it called his 'bleeding edge research' on cow urine. The post suggested that his work had helped take 'gomutra to the world stage'.

Congratulations to V Kamakoti on receiving the honour. The nation recognises your bleeding edge research on Cow Urine at IIT Madras, taking Gomutra to world stage. https://t.co/PjZcZ3ZRHD

— Congress Kerala (@INCKerala) January 26, 2026

This post triggered strong reactions and reopened debate around traditional practices, science, and public honours.

Zoho co-founder Sridhar Vembu, a billionaire tech entrepreneur, came out strongly in support of Kamakoti. Vembu criticised the Congress party for what he described as a “slavish colonial mindset”.

According to Vembu, such thinking assumes that subjects linked to Indian traditions, including cow dung and cow urine, are automatically unscientific and not worthy of serious research.

He said he was defending Kamakoti on scientific grounds, not political ones.

Vembu claims cow dung and urine have scientific value

In his posts, Vembu stated that cow dung and cow urine contain a rich and unique microbiome. He argued that this microbiome could be useful for humans and deserves proper scientific study.

He also said that if top global institutions like Harvard or MIT were to publish research on the same topic in the future, critics would likely accept it without question.

Professor Kamakoti works in deep tech: micro-processor design. He is the Director of IIT-Madras, the best technological institution in India. He serves in the NSAB. He richly deserves the honour.I have defended him on scientific grounds and I will do so again: cow dung and… https://t.co/F5U1A1Kh42

— Sridhar Vembu (@svembu) January 26, 2026

Vembu suggested that rejecting such research ideas outright reflects mental dependence on Western approval rather than open scientific thinking.

The Kerala Congress unit responded sharply to Vembu’s defence. The party challenged him to put his money where his mouth is and fund proper research into cow urine and cow dung.

In a strongly worded tweet, Congress said that if cow urine could truly help cure serious diseases like cancer, then such research would be a major gift to the world. The party asked why Vembu’s company had not invested in this area if he believed so strongly in it.

Congress recalls Covid-19 claims and raises doubts

Congress also referred to the Covid-19 pandemic, stating that many fraudsters had made false claims about curing the virus using cow dung and cow urine. The party questioned what the outcome of those claims had been.

It further asked why research focus should be limited only to cow waste, sarcastically suggesting that waste from goats, buffaloes, or even humans could also be studied if that logic was followed.

Dear @svembu,Research is not about quoting random Western research papers out of context. What is the outcome of all this research on cow dung and urine? And why are we limited only to cow dung? What about the excreta of buffaloes, goats, or even humans?Recently, the outcome… https://t.co/H8ajPud4SI

— Congress Kerala (@INCKerala) January 26, 2026

The party stressed that while cancer research is important, it questioned why cow urine and dung were being projected as special cures without strong evidence.

The row has once again brought attention to remarks made by V Kamakoti last year, when he spoke about the possible benefits of cow urine during discussions on traditional knowledge systems and organic farming.

At the time, his comments drew heavy criticism from opposition parties and rationalist groups, who accused him of promoting unproven ideas. Supporters, however, argued that traditional practices should not be dismissed without research.

What studies say about cow dung and urine in modern research today

Scientific studies have looked at cow dung and cow urine mostly in agriculture and lab tests, not as proven cures for disease. Research shows cow urine can act as a growth enhancer and antifungal agent against plant pathogens in lab tests and improve plant nutrient levels when mixed with soil or compost.

Some studies also found antibacterial activity in cow urine distillates in lab settings. Cow dung has been shown to affect soil microbes and plant growth positively and may have antimicrobial compounds in extracts, but this does not prove it works as medicine in humans.

The ongoing exchange reflects a deeper divide between modern scientific standards and traditional belief systems. While Congress has questioned the credibility and usefulness of such research, Vembu has insisted that science should remain open to all ideas, including those rooted in Indian traditions.

As the debate continues online, it remains unclear whether it will lead to any real scientific studies or remain a political and ideological clash.

By 5:30 PM, the food is delivered to the Wallajah Mosque, where hundreds gather to break their fast.

Harish Makkar, a volunteer, told The Times of India that the team has been serving Iftar for nearly four decades. Social media users have praised the effort as a strong example of interfaith harmony.

Local residents say the tradition has strengthened bonds between Hindu and Muslim communities. At a time when public debate often focuses on division, this quiet service sends a clear message of unity and peaceful coexistence. Observers pointed out that blocked roads and drivers failing to check behind before moving create dangerous situations for two-wheeler riders.

Some road safety voices said such accidents are common due to vehicles being parked improperly on public roads. They also highlighted the risks when drivers move vehicles without checking mirrors.

Social media users expressed anger and frustration after watching the visuals. Several people blamed illegal parking and careless driving. Others stressed that two-wheeler riders must be extremely cautious because they are most exposed on the road.

Some comments also noted that the rider was not wearing a helmet and tried to squeeze through a narrow gap, which increased the risk. A few users questioned whether such tragedies could be prevented with stricter enforcement and better road discipline.

One user asked about the rider’s condition, while others debated responsibility between drivers and riders. The incident has once again highlighted how small mistakes on busy roads can quickly turn fatal.

The accident has renewed discussion about road safety enforcement in urban areas. Experts often warn that illegal parking, distraction and lack of protective gear together create a high-risk environment for young riders.

A joyful and colourful video from the United States is winning hearts on social media, showing how teachers often go beyond the classroom to support their students. The viral video was filmed during a Pongal celebration at the Thiruvalluvar Tamil School in Edison, New Jersey. The video has gone viral for all the right reasons.

While the students' performance was full of energy and tradition, it was a teacher’s dedication and love that truly stood out.

Pongal celebration filled with colour and culture

The video was taken during a cultural programme organised to celebrate Pongal, a traditional Tamil harvest festival. On stage, young students dressed as tigers performed Puliattam, a folk dance that requires strong movements, timing and coordination.

The children performed with excitement, wearing bright costumes and face paint. The stage was lively, colourful and filled with festive spirit, reflecting Tamil culture far away from home.

Teacher guides every step with care

What caught the attention of viewers was a teacher standing in front of the children, guiding them throughout the performance. She was dressed in a shiny pink saree and stayed close to the stage, carefully showing the dance steps and hand movements.

Instead of simply watching from the side, the teacher actively demonstrated each step, making sure the children did not forget their moves or lose confidence during the performance.
    View this post on Instagram
A post shared by Kees Candid to (@keescandid)

Crawling like a tiger to help her students

At one point in the video, the teacher even crawls onto the stage like a tiger, matching the children’s movements so they could follow her easily. Her effort was clear, as she focused only on helping the students perform their best.

The moment showed her deep commitment and love for teaching. Many viewers said it was touching to see a teacher put in so much effort without worrying about attention or appearance.

Video shared on Instagram, praise pours in

The video was shared on Instagram by a user named Kees Candid with the caption, “The effort of teachers is priceless.” Soon after, the clip began receiving thousands of likes and comments.

Social media users praised the teacher for her dedication and called her actions inspiring. Many commented that teachers are the backbone of every good performance. Others wrote that such moments show why teachers deserve more respect and appreciation.

The video has become a gentle reminder that behind every confident child on stage, there is often a teacher working quietly in the background. The teacher’s actions showed patience, passion and a deep sense of responsibility.

As the video continues to spread online, it is not just celebrating a dance or a festival, but also the power of good teaching and selfless guidance.

A police case has been registered against BJP Karur president VV Senthilnathan for allegedly making obscene and derogatory remarks about Congress MP S. Jothimani during a February 10 protest in Karur. Jothimani condemned the comments as sexist abuse.

A political controversy has broken out in Tamil Nadu after police registered a case against V. V. Senthilnathan, the district president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karur. The case relates to remarks he allegedly made about Congress Member of Parliament S. Jothimani during a protest earlier this month.

The protest was organised on February 10 in front of the Head Post Office in Karur by the BJP’s women’s wing. According to police, Senthilnathan allegedly made indecent and derogatory comments about the MP while addressing the gathering. Officials said the speech was insulting to womanhood and could disturb public peace.

Based on a complaint by Karur District Congress president Ramesh, Karur Town Police registered a case under multiple legal provisions, including sections related to insulting the modesty of a woman, public mischief and criminal defamation. The case also invokes provisions of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.

What the FIR alleges

According to details cited from the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant accused the BJP leader of making sexually coloured and degrading statements about the elected woman MP in a public forum using amplified sound. The complaint says the remarks amounted to a direct attack on her dignity and were intended to humiliate and intimidate her.

The FIR also alleges that references of a sexual nature were used to shame the MP publicly. It further claims the speech created a real threat to her safety and could incite hostility and unrest among the public.

A video shared by Jothimani on social media allegedly shows VVSenthilnathan making crude comments and saying she should be deported from the country. Police said they are examining available evidence as part of the investigation.

I am releasing this obscene and deeply repulsive video, in which the Karur District President of the BJP, Mr Senthil Nathan, speaks about me, with full awareness and firm resolve. She said no woman should face such abuse in public life.

She alleged that the remarks reduced her identity to her gender and body, ignoring her work, merit and political role. She also claimed the comments reflected a wider mindset used to silence outspoken women in politics.

#WATCH | Delhi | On BJP leader VV Senthilnathan's remarks, Congress MP Jothimani says, "These are very disgusting and obscene remarks against me. However, in a situation where one cannot respond to an opinion with another opinion, using language that degrades women's dignity as a weapon only reveals the decline of political decency. The mindset of viewing women not through their labor, talent, and social service, but solely through a sexual lens is dangerous to society itself," he wrote in his X post.

VV Senthilnathan denied any vulgar intent. He said his words were taken out of context and insisted he did not speak in a derogatory manner. He refused to apologise and instead said the MP should apologise for what he claimed was an insult to the country.

He also stated that the protest was aimed at criticising alleged attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament by opposition women MPs. This claim has been rejected by the MP and opposition leaders.

The controversy has triggered sharp political reactions. Congress leaders condemned the remarks and demanded strict action. Manickam Tagore said the incident reflected a broader pattern of misogyny in public discourse and called for disciplinary action.

We strongly condemn the disgraceful remarks made by BJP president V. V. Senthilnathan against Sister MP Jothimani. This is not an isolated outburst — it reflects the toxic RSS-BJP mindset that normalises misogyny and personal attacks on women in public life. That episode had already sparked public outrage, increasing scrutiny of political speech in the state.

Opposition parties say repeated personal attacks on women leaders weaken democratic debate. They argue that criticism in politics should focus on policies and governance rather than personal remarks.

Legal position and next steps

Police confirmed that the case has been registered under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita dealing with words or gestures intended to insult the modesty of a woman, statements causing public mischief and criminal defamation. Investigators are reviewing video evidence and witness accounts.

If charges are established, the case could proceed to prosecution. Officials have not yet announced any arrest or further legal action.

The Alappuzha Cyber Crime Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a large online share trading fraud in which an elderly man was cheated of ₹8.08 crore. The accused contacted the victim through WhatsApp, pretending to be a representative of a reputed share trading company.

The arrest has brought attention to the rising number of cyber frauds linked to fake investment apps and social media platforms. The arrested accused has been identified as Bharathikannan Angamuthu (23), a native of Salem, Tamil Nadu. He is an automobile engineering graduate.

Police said Bharathikannan played a key role in gaining the victim’s trust and diverting large sums of money through multiple bank transactions.

How the fraud was carried out

According to police, the fraud began with a WhatsApp call, during which the accused convinced the elderly man that he was an authorised share trading expert. The victim was then asked to install a fake mobile application named “RARCII”.

The app displayed false profit figures, making it appear that the investments were growing rapidly. To further mislead the victim, the accused added him to a WhatsApp group named “C778 Reliance Capital Innovators Hub”, where fake messages claimed that other members were earning huge profits.

Between September 24 and December 20, the victim transferred money in 73 separate transactions.

Service charge trick and company link

When the victim later attempted to withdraw the so-called profits, the fraudsters demanded additional money, claiming it was a mandatory service charge. This led to further losses.

Police revealed that the accused had started a private firm named Valiant Strive Corporation Private Limited in Salem along with his classmate Sabareesh Sekhar. The victim was made to transfer ₹35.5 lakh directly into the company’s current account.

Co-accused already in jail

The second accused, Sabareesh Sekhar, is currently lodged in Trichy Central Jail in connection with a similar cyber fraud case. The Alappuzha Cyber Crime Police confirmed that he will be formally taken into custody in this case as well.

Investigation across multiple states

Police said the fraud involved bank accounts spread across several states, making the investigation complex. Financial trails are being examined with the help of banks and cyber experts.

Authorities confirmed that a charge sheet will be filed within three months.

Police warning to the public

The Cyber Crime Police issued a strong warning, stating that nearly 90 percent of trading tips shared on social media are fake. They also clarified that share trading cannot be done without a valid Demat account.

People have been advised to avoid unknown calls, WhatsApp investment groups, and unverified mobile apps.

A major political controversy has erupted in Tamil Nadu over the recently released Tamil film Parasakthi, starring actor Sivakarthikeyan. The Tamil Nadu Youth Congress has demanded an immediate ban on the film, alleging that it distorts historical facts, promotes the DMK, and takes an anti-Hindu stand.

The party has accused the filmmakers of misrepresenting key events linked to the Congress and of deliberately portraying former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the Congress party in a negative light. The controversy has added a strong political edge to the film’s release, with reactions coming from both political and cinema circles.

Youth Congress demands ban on the film

The demand for a ban was made by Arun Bhaskar, senior vice president of the Tamil Nadu Youth Congress. He described Parasakthi as a “pro-DMK movie with a pro-Tamil and anti-Hindu stand” and claimed it spreads false narratives about the Congress.

According to Bhaskar, the film does not merely take creative liberty but intentionally alters history to damage the image of the Congress party. He said such portrayals could mislead younger audiences who may not be aware of historical facts.

For those who have watched the movie and told me there are historical inaccuracies that show congress in a poor light. The film is set against the backdrop of the 1960s student movements and anti-Hindi protests in Tamil Nadu. It is written and directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad and stars Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and Sreeleela in lead roles.

The movie faced delays before release due to censor issues. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) reportedly ordered 25 cuts, and some scenes were marked as fictional. The makers later confirmed that the film received a U/A certificate and announced its worldwide theatrical release.

Objection over post office language claim

One of the main objections raised by the Youth Congress relates to a scene suggesting that post office forms were allowed only in Hindi during the Congress rule. Arun Bhaskar said this claim is completely false. He stated that in 1965, the Congress government never issued any order forcing people across states to fill post office forms only in Hindi. According to him, the scene was deliberately created to mislead viewers and malign the Congress party.

Dispute over depiction of Indira Gandhi

The Youth Congress has also strongly objected to scenes involving former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Bhaskar claimed that the film shows Sivakarthikeyan’s character meeting Indira Gandhi in Coimbatore on February 12, 1965, to oppose Hindi imposition.

He dismissed this scene as entirely fictional, saying Indira Gandhi never visited Coimbatore on that date. “This meeting did not happen at all,” he said, adding that such portrayals wrongly show the former Prime Minister in a poor light.

Train burning scene called baseless

Another scene that drew sharp criticism shows a burning train falling in front of Indira Gandhi. Arun Bhaskar described this sequence as utter nonsense with no link to real events.

He said the film falsely suggests that Indira Gandhi witnessed violent incidents and accepted signatures against Hindi imposition, which, according to him, never happened. “None of these events ever took place in history,” he said.

Serious allegation over Pollachi killings

Bhaskar also objected to the film’s climax, which flashes real photographs of Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and K Kamaraj. He claimed the film accuses the Congress of shooting and killing more than 200 Tamil people in Pollachi.

Calling this allegation extremely serious, he said there is no evidence to support such a claim. He accused the filmmakers of irresponsibly using real historical figures to push false accusations.

Demand for apology and legal warning

The Youth Congress has strongly condemned the film and demanded the immediate removal of objectionable scenes. Arun Bhaskar also called for a public apology from the film’s production team.

He warned that strict legal action would be initiated if the film was not taken down or if the makers failed to apologise. He also urged Congress workers across Tamil Nadu to protest against what he described as injustice and historical distortion.

Kamal Haasan's praise for film’s political message

Earlier, actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan offered strong praise for Parasakthi. After watching the film, he wrote a letter to Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, sharing his views. Kamal Haasan said he did not expect the film to carry such strong political weight. He described Parasakthi as a 'mighty war drum' ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

He wrote that the film should succeed and called it a 'victorious tilak etched into the history of the DMK'. He also praised director Sudha Kongara and Sivakarthikeyan for choosing and committing to such a powerful story.

Cast, crew and audience response

Kamal Haasan congratulated the entire cast and crew, including Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, Sreeleela, cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran, music composer G.V. Prakash, editor Sathish Suriya, and other technicians. He said they had become part of cinematic history.

Parasakthi has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. While some praised its political message and performances, others questioned its historical accuracy. The film’s trailer, which shows Sivakarthikeyan as a coal tosser in Indian Railways, had already sparked debate due to its political tone.

(With ANI inputs)
