A speeding electric car went out of control in Hyderabad’s Kukatpally area on Wednesday afternoon, damaging several vehicles and causing panic on a busy road. The incident, which was captured on CCTV cameras, quickly went viral on social media after videos showed the car crashing into vehicles and roadside property within seconds.

According to police, the electric car was travelling from Vivekananda Nagar towards Allwyn Colony when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, reported The Hindu.

The accident damaged a car, a motorcycle and property near a local tiffin centre. Fortunately, no deaths or serious injuries were reported.

Police said a few people suffered minor injuries and escaped with shock.

The CCTV footage shows the electric vehicle moving suddenly at high speed before crashing into vehicles parked and moving on the roadside.

People nearby were seen running for safety as the car moved uncontrollably through the narrow and crowded stretch.

The incident happened in a busy part of Kukatpally known for regular traffic congestion and roadside shops.

Soon after the crash, locals gathered at the spot while police teams arrived to control traffic and begin an investigation.

The damaged vehicles were later removed from the road to clear congestion.

Police officials confirmed that the driver lost control of the vehicle while travelling towards Allwyn Colony.

However, officials have not yet confirmed the exact reason behind the accident.

An investigation is currently underway to determine whether the crash happened because of overspeeding, driver panic, distraction or technical error.

No official details have yet been released about the identity of the driver or whether any charges have been filed.

The viral video triggered strong reactions online, with many social media users debating what may have caused the accident.

Some users believed the driver may have accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake pedal, which is often discussed in panic situations involving automatic cars and electric vehicles.

After days of intense heat across large parts of the country, India may finally get some relief as pre-monsoon rainfall is expected to spread across nearly 80 to 90 percent of the country between May 29 and June 5. The expected rain becomes important as the southwest monsoon has still not reached Kerala, even though the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted its arrival around May 26.

Weather experts said weak cloud activity over the south-central Arabian Sea has slowed the monsoon’s progress. A cyclonic circulation in the region has reduced moisture and weakened rain-bearing clouds near Kerala. However, conditions are likely to improve within the next two to three days.

For the monsoon to officially enter Kerala, at least 14 selected weather stations in the state must receive 2.5 mm rainfall for two continuous days. So far, those conditions have not been fully met.

The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) has also released a fresh rainfall outlook for the next 15 days. According to its forecast maps, heavy rain activity is likely over south India, eastern states, the northeast and regions near the Bay of Bengal during the coming week.

The forecast is based on satellite observations along with oceanic and atmospheric data.

While rain may soon bring relief to many regions, severe heat continues to affect northwestern, central and eastern parts of India.

Uttar Pradesh’s Banda remained the hottest city in the country on Tuesday with a maximum temperature of 47.4°C. It was the ninth straight day that the temperature crossed 47°C in the district.

Many districts in Maharashtra continued to face extreme heat. Brahmapuri recorded 46.6°C, which was 3.5 degrees above normal. Chandrapur saw 46.4°C, Wardha 46°C, Nagpur’s Sonegaon area 45.5°C and Gondia 45.2°C.

In Haryana, Sirsa recorded 46°C and Rohtak 45.6°C. Punjab’s Bathinda reached 45.8°C.

Delhi also remained hotter than usual, with the maximum temperature touching 43.5°C, around 3 degrees above normal.

The IMD has issued heatwave alerts for parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Odisha, Punjab, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh on May 28.

At the same time, thunderstorms, strong winds and even hailstorms are expected in parts of Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi.

Several states, including Bihar, West Bengal, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, may witness strong winds blowing at speeds of 50 to 70 kmph along with light rain in some areas.

Weather officials said temperatures may fall by 3°C to 7°C in many northern states from May 29 onwards.

N Marie Wilson, a first-time MLA from RK Nagar, has been appointed Finance Minister in CM Vijay’s expanded Tamil Nadu Cabinet. Wilson joined TVK in 2025 and won the 2026 Assembly election by defeating DMK’s J. John Ebenezer by nearly 50,000 votes.

Tamil Nadu’s new Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has announced a major Cabinet expansion, and one name that has quickly drawn attention is N. Marie Wilson. The first-time MLA from Radhakrishnan Nagar has now been given one of the most important positions in the state government, the Finance portfolio.

With the latest Cabinet expansion on May 21, the strength of the Tamil Nadu Ministry rose to 33 Ministers. While several senior leaders received key departments, Marie Wilson’s appointment as Finance Minister stood out because he entered electoral politics only recently and won his first election in 2026.

N Marie Wilson is an Indian politician and educationist from Tamil Nadu.

He is associated with the Jeppiaar group of educational institutions, one of the well-known private education groups in the state.

Wilson was born around 1979 and comes from Chennai. His father’s name is Nestore.

Before entering politics, Wilson built his career mainly in the education sector.

Academically, he holds a B.Tech degree and an MBA. He later completed a PhD in Management Science from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in 2012.

His educational background and administrative experience in institutions are believed to have played a role in his rise within TVK.

Entry into politics through TVK

Wilson officially joined TVK on June 9, 2025.

He joined the party along with several other notable names, including former IRS officer K.G. Arunraj, former judicial officer C. Subash and former MLAs R. Rajalakshmi, S. David Selvan and Dr. A. Sridharan.

His political entry also marked the first major electoral involvement of the Jeppiaar family in many years.

Earlier, Dr. Jeppiaar had contested the 1989 Tamil Nadu Assembly election from T Nagar under the Janaki faction, although he was not elected.

After joining TVK, Wilson quickly became active in party events and organisational work.

In November 2025, TVK chief Vijay addressed around 2,000 party workers at the Jeppiaar Institute of Technology campus during a closed-door meeting. The event gained attention because it was one of the party’s major internal meetings after the Karur stampede incident in September 2025.

Victory from RK Nagar

Wilson received his biggest political breakthrough when TVK announced him as the party’s candidate from Radhakrishnan Nagar during the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Polling took place on April 23, 2026.

On May 4, Wilson was declared elected after defeating sitting MLA J. John Ebenezer of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam by a margin of 49,668 votes.

He secured 97,800 votes in the constituency.

The victory was seen as significant because RK Nagar has remained one of Chennai’s politically important constituencies over the years.

Tamil Nadu witnessed one of its biggest political shifts in recent decades after actor-turned-politician Vijay led TVK to victory in the Assembly elections.

Sengottaiyan gets Revenue portfolio

Apart from Marie Wilson, senior TVK leader KA Sengottaiyan was assigned the Revenue department.

His responsibilities include Revenue Administration, Disaster Management, Deputy Collectors, Boodhan, Gramadhan and Legislative Assembly matters.

The Cabinet also reassigned the Women Welfare portfolio.

K Jegadeshwari has now been designated Minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment, taking over responsibilities that were earlier handled by the Chief Minister’s office.

Tamil Nadu gets dedicated AI ministry

One of the other major decisions by the Vijay government was the creation of a dedicated Artificial Intelligence portfolio.

TVK MLA Kumar R from Velachery was appointed Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology and Digital Services.

With this move, Tamil Nadu became the second Indian state after Kerala to create a separate AI ministry.

The decision reflects increasing focus among Indian states on digital governance and emerging technologies.

As Finance Minister, Marie Wilson will now handle one of the most challenging departments in the Tamil Nadu government.

Police said the crash happened between 12:30 am and 1 am at Palakonda crossroads on the Mahabubnagar bypass road. According to officials, a car was taking a right turn when a sports bike travelling at high speed, reportedly around 160 kmph, hit the rear left door of the vehicle. The impact was very strong. 15 bikers were reportedly seen riding together, and dangerous highway racing is often reported in the area.

People in the car

Eight people were travelling in the car. They were returning home after attending a birthday function. Six of them were injured in the crash and were taken to a hospital. During treatment, three occupants, a woman and two children, died. Their identities have not been officially detailed in the initial report.

Police statement on racing reports
