The clip closely resembles a 2025 incident from Harpur in Uttar Pradesh, where primary school students were allegedly made to carry bricks for construction work on school premises, triggering outrage and prompting an official inquiry.

Has Any Action Been Taken Against School Authorities?

After the clip of the incident, where a headmaster/teacher allegedly forced a student to carry a pair of bricks on the school premises, went viral on social media, especially X (formerly Twitter), netizens sparked outrage over the alleged exploitation of a child for manual labour.

Though no action has been taken against those responsible for the incident, Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA), Roshini Singh, stated that a thorough investigation has been launched to verify the facts. The investigation has reportedly been given to the Assistant Basic Shiksha Adhikari (ABSA).

After the investigation, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against those found responsible if the allegations are substantiated, BSA Roshini Singh said. Since the investigation is reportedly underway, findings of the probe will determine whether disciplinary or legal action is initiated against those found responsible for the alleged incident.

It remains to be seen whether the inquiry will substantiate the allegations and lead to disciplinary action against the school authorities, or if the incident will expose deeper systemic issues within the functioning of government-run schools.

Her father reportedly works as a civil contractor in Akola district of Maharashtra, while her elder brother, Prabal, is also an upcoming cricketer who trains alongside her in the sport.

Aditi had recently passed her 12th examinations and was training alongside her brother with rigorous daily practice routines before the tragic incident unfolded at their residence. According to police, after returning home following the selection trials, Aditi Chaukhande had dinner with her mother before retiring to her room.

After going to her room, Aditi reportedly died by suicide, leaving behind a letter for her brother, Prabhal, which reads:

“Dada, you play so well. You will become very big. Make our parents proud. I am sad I couldn't be selected.”

A government school in Rajasthan's Tonk district has found an unusual way to bring newspapers closer to children in a rural area. PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School in Raholi publishes its own newspapers in Hindi and English, giving students a chance to learn journalism by actually doing the work. The Hindi newspaper is called 'Raholi Shiksha Samachar', while its English edition is 'Raholi Education Times'. Both are published in print and online.

The newspapers are largely produced by students from Classes 10 to 12. From collecting information to taking photographs, recording videos and conducting interviews, students take part in almost every stage of the process. They also write and edit stories, prepare graphics and work on page layouts.

Some students work as reporters, while others take on roles such as photographers, graphic designers, news writers and editorial assistants.

Teachers remain involved as guides and mentors, helping students understand how journalism works and checking the content before publication.

An editorial board has also been formed to oversee the newspaper. It includes school principal Dr Yogendra Singh Naruka, teacher Pooja Patidar and selected students.

The idea came from a simple problem

Naruka, who has studied journalism, told news agency PTI that he noticed a lack of newspapers in many students' homes after taking charge of the school in Raholi. He also felt that the achievements and activities taking place at the school were not getting enough attention from larger newspapers.

He recalled that whenever a school achievement was covered in a newspaper, students would repeatedly read the report, show it to their classmates and feel proud.

That experience gave him the idea of creating a newspaper within the school itself.

First issue published in 2023

Before starting the newspaper, the school had published a book based on its three-year development plan during the 2022 academic session. After that effort, the first issue of Raholi Shiksha Samachar was published in 2023. Naruka initially paid for it himself. Teachers later came forward to support the project, helping the newspaper continue regularly.

The print edition is published monthly, quarterly or on special occasions, depending on the time and funds available.

The school does not receive separate government funding for the newspaper. According to Naruka, teachers voluntarily contribute towards its printing and distribution. Copies are then given to students free of cost.

The newspaper covers a wide range of subjects, including school activities, academics, sports, cultural events, social issues, environmental work and student innovations.

For the students involved, the project offers more than just something to read.

It gives them a chance to ask questions, find stories, work as a team and understand how news is created. It also allows them to see their own achievements in print.

In a school where many children had limited access to newspapers at home, the initiative has turned the school itself into a small newsroom — and its students into the people telling its stories.

'One Nation, One Election' Bill Not To Be Introduced in Monsoon Session

The government is unlikely to introduce the Constitution Amendment Bill linked to the ‘One Nation, One Election’ plan during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament. The development follows another extension granted to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) examining the proposed legislation. The 41-member committee has now been given more time to complete its work and submit its report.

JPC gets fresh extension

The JPC on Wednesday, July 29, approved a resolution seeking an extension for submitting its report. Committee chairman P.P. Chaudhary moved the resolution, asking for the deadline to be extended until the first day of the final week of the Winter Session. The resolution was passed by voice vote.

The extension means the committee will not submit its report during the current Monsoon Session.

The Winter Session of Parliament usually begins in the last week of November and ends before Christmas. The exact dates for the upcoming session will be announced separately.

The 41-member JPC is examining the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024, which seeks to create a framework for holding Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections together.

The proposed ‘One Nation, One Election’ framework is aimed at holding elections to the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies at the same time. The wider proposal also involves simultaneous elections to local bodies.

The committee has been holding consultations across the country to gather views on the proposed system and its possible rollout by 2029.

The extension is significant because the government's next move on the bill is closely linked to the JPC's report.

The bill cannot move ahead on the basis of the committee's recommendations until the report is submitted and considered by Parliament.

The delay also means the government will have more time to consider the committee's findings before deciding on the next stage of the legislation.

A 27-year-old software engineer working at Kerala's Kakkanad’s Infopark died in a tragic car accident in the early hours of Tuesday. The victim was identified as Devanand, a resident of Kavunkal in the 21st ward of Mannancherry Panchayat in Alappuzha.

Devanand was travelling with his friends in a car on a road near Infopark when the vehicle lost control and crashed into a metal electric pole. Devanand was sitting in the back seat when the accident happened. The impact was so strong that the rear door of the car flew open, throwing him out onto the road.

He suffered a severe head injury in the crash.

Devanand was immediately taken to a private hospital in Ernakulam. However, doctors could not save him, and he later died from his injuries.

Devanand was the son of Kunjumon, also known as Ambu, and Shailaja.

Following the accident, Devanand’s body was taken for a post-mortem examination at Kalamassery Medical College Hospital.

After the post-mortem, his funeral was held at his family home in Kavunkal on Tuesday evening.

The accident has left Devanand’s family and friends mourning the loss of the young software engineer.
