A bike thief in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor found an unusual way to hide his identity while stealing motorcycles, he wore a wig during the crimes and removed it afterwards. Police arrested Sonu alias Sohail, a history-sheeter of Afzalgarh police station, in connection with a motorcycle theft case. Bijnor Superintendent of Police KK Bishnoi revealed the arrest at a press conference on Monday.

Thief wore wig during bike thefts

The case came to light after a man named Vishal reported that his Yamaha motorcycle had been stolen on October 4. Police began checking CCTV footage and using surveillance inputs to trace the suspect.

Investigators noticed a peculiar pattern in the footage. The suspect was seen wearing a wig while allegedly carrying out the theft. After leaving the scene, he would remove the wig, apparently to change his appearance and make identification more difficult.

Police eventually arrested Sonu and recovered a stolen Yamaha MT-15 from him. They also found a burnt Apache motorcycle.

Apache stolen from Nainital

During questioning, police said Sonu admitted to stealing the Apache from Nainital and later setting it on fire. Police also said he had been involved in motorcycle thefts across several states.

The accused is reportedly a history-sheeter and has also faced action under the Gangsters Act. Police said his previous involvement in theft cases helped them identify him during the investigation, according to a report by Dainik Bhaskar.

A finance student, Jigar Solanki, a native of Bhavnagar, died in hospital after he was found stripped and critically injured inside the compound of an apartment complex in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Police are probing the incident and the motive that led to the fatal assault. The 21-year-old victim was found seriously injured at Tirth Bhoomi Apartment behind Sardar Patel School in Isanpur around 11.30pm on Friday. He was taken to LG Hospital, where he died during treatment around 2.30am on Saturday.

Student left home after dinner

Solanki was pursuing a finance degree course at Silver Oak University. He had been staying with his maternal uncle, Harshit Chauhan, in Isanpur for around two-and-a-half months after previously living in a paying guest accommodation. According to the complaint filed by Chauhan, Solanki had dinner at home at around 9.30pm on Friday, reported the Times of India. He then told his uncle that he was going to meet a friend at Jawahar Chowk and left on his motorcycle.

Around two hours later, the family received information that Solanki had been found injured and without clothes in the compound of Tirth Bhoomi Apartment, the TOI report added.

Police found his motorcycle locked at the spot, with the key reportedly still with him. His clothes were found nearby. Residents covered the injured student with clothes before he was taken to hospital in a 108 ambulance.

Police probe unidentified attackers

Deputy commissioner of police (Zone 6) Bhagirathsinh Gadhavi told TOI that Solanki had suffered multiple injuries to his shoulder, both hands, cheek, hip, chest and armpit. The nature of the injuries suggested that he may have been attacked with a stick or another heavy object, although police have not established the weapon used.

Isanpur police have registered a murder case against unidentified persons.

Police are examining CCTV footage from the apartment complex and nearby areas. Technical evidence, Solanki's phone and other available information are also being analysed to identify those involved.

A dog squad and forensic team were sent to the scene, while the crime branch is assisting with the investigation.

Student did not name attackers

Police are also trying to determine why Solanki was attacked, whether he had a dispute with anyone and who accompanied him to the apartment complex. Gadhavi said Solanki did not provide any information about his attackers despite being questioned by residents and later by his family.

The DCP said the investigation so far had found no reported dispute involving Solanki. Police are now working to establish his movements between leaving home and being found injured.

Ram Vilas has alleged that he spent around Rs 60 lakh on a two-storey house built on a plot registered in his daughter-in-law’s name. He also claimed the property was worth around Rs 75 lakh and was sold for Rs 46 lakh. These figures are allegations and have not been independently established.

What Agra police said

The Malpura police inquiry presents a different picture. According to the Agra Police Commissionerate, the dispute concerns ownership and division of the family property. Police said the house is registered in the daughter-in-law’s name and that a partition-related case is pending before the court.

Police also said Ram Vilas currently lives in a rented house with his wife and younger son. After questioning both sides, investigators found contradictory statements and described the matter as civil in nature.

CCTV shows child being slapped and dragged

The court found both accused guilty of murdering Merchant Navy worker Saurabh Rajput. Reacting to the verdict, the prosecution lawyer said, "Today, the court has held both accused guilty of Saurabh Rajput’s murder. The evidence presented by the prosecution was found sufficient by the court. Both accused have also been held guilty of destroying and concealing evidence after the murder."

The final decision will be based on the evidence presented during the trial and the applicable law.

Senior prosecution officer KK Chaubey said all prosecution witnesses had been examined and the prosecution had sought stringent punishment for the accused. He also said the final decision would be based on the evidence and law.

Security arrangements have been strengthened around the Meerut court complex ahead of the verdict. Additional police personnel have been deployed in and around the premises.

The two accused are likely to be produced through video conferencing, as has happened during earlier proceedings. The decision to use video conferencing follows heightened security concerns after an earlier court appearance.

On March 19, 2025, when Muskan and Sahil were produced before a court amid tight security, an agitated group of lawyers allegedly assaulted Sahil. Police intervened and took the accused away.

Meerut District Jail officials said changes had been noticed in the behaviour of both accused ahead of the judgment.

Sahil has reportedly remained quiet and withdrawn for the past few days and has not been interacting much with other inmates. Jail officials also said both accused had been spending considerable time in prayer in the days before the verdict.

Girl and friend allegedly taken to deserted building

According to ACP Sarai Sandeep Mor, the girl had gone out with a male friend on August 24 when the four accused allegedly intercepted them, according to a report by Aaj Tak.

The accused allegedly took both victims to an abandoned building in the area. Police said the minor girl was gangraped there. Her friend has also alleged that he was subjected to an unnatural sexual assault.

Police said the allegations made by both victims are being investigated as part of the case.

The two victims were allegedly held captive inside the building for several hours at knifepoint. According to the complaint, they called for help but nobody came to their assistance. Police said the isolated location of the building may have made it difficult for anyone to hear or respond to their calls.

Accused allegedly threatened victims

The complaint also contains allegations of intimidation. Police said the accused allegedly threatened the victims and warned them against revealing what had happened.

Woman had left home with lover

The case relates to a village under the Biwanr police station area of Hamirpur. The young woman allegedly left home on September 20 with a man from Kanpur’s Bithoor area. Police traced and recovered her on Wednesday. She was subsequently produced before the court on Thursday for recording her statement, according to a report by Aaj Tak.

According to reports, the woman told the court that she wanted to stay with her lover. Her statement reportedly angered her mother, who was waiting outside the court premises.

Mother allegedly attacks man

Soon after hearing her daughter’s statement, the woman allegedly confronted the young man’s father and attacked him.

A video circulating online purportedly shows the woman slapping and kicking the man before also hitting him with her slippers. The alleged assault took place outside the court premises.

After the incident, the woman reportedly got into a Bolero vehicle and left the spot.

The video has since attracted attention on social media, with the incident being described as a confrontation between the two families over the young woman’s relationship.

Police yet to receive complaint

Police said no official complaint had been filed by either side in connection with the alleged assault.

Hamirpur Circle Officer Sadar Yashpal Singh said police had not received any information or written complaint regarding the incident. He added that appropriate legal action would be taken if either party approached the police with a complaint.

Live-In Couple Sells Their Month-Old Baby For Rs 1.2 Lakh, Infant Resold Multiple Times

A nearly one-month-old baby was allegedly sold for Rs 1.2 lakh by a live-in couple in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The infant was passed through several hands and eventually taken to Hyderabad. According to police officials, the child has since been rescued and placed in an orphanage in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Seven people, including the baby's parents, have been arrested in connection with the alleged sale and resale of the child. The parents bought gold and mobile phones after selling the baby.

Mother approaches police after baby is taken away

According to police, the baby was born on July 5. The mother later approached the police, alleging that Kaushalya Pawar and her daughter, Seema Reshwal, took the child away on August 7.

The mother alleged that the two women pressured her and her live-in partner into signing papers and accepting Rs 1.2 lakh in cash. Following her complaint, a case was registered at Mukundwadi police station on September 23.

Investigating officer Hareshwar Ghuge said the parents work as labourers and are in a live-in relationship. Police alleged that after receiving the money, the couple bought two mobile phones costing around Rs 25,000 and gold worth Rs 62,000.

Baby sold multiple times

Police said Kaushalya knew the baby’s mother because the two women had worked together. The investigation found that the infant was allegedly sold several more times after the first transaction.

Seema allegedly sold the baby to a woman named Sangita Awhad for Rs 2.7 lakh. Sangita then allegedly handed the child to Suresh Guntuka from Telangana’s Jagtial district for Rs 3.5 lakh.

Police said Kaushalya allegedly kept Rs 1.1 lakh from the Rs 1.5 lakh difference, while Seema received Rs 40,000. The two allegedly used the money to clear debts.

Baby reaches Hyderabad

Suresh allegedly took the infant to Hyderabad and handed the child to a female relative. Police said he received Rs 3.5 lakh for acting as a facilitator.

The woman who received the baby reportedly runs a garment business and had been trying to have a child but could not conceive despite undergoing treatment.

Police said she became attached to the infant but had obtained the child through an illegal arrangement.

"She just chose the wrong path to get the baby," investigating officer Ghuge told news agency PTI.

Seven arrested in infant sale case

The seven arrested people include the live-in couple, Kaushalya, Seema, Sangita, Suresh and the woman in Hyderabad. Police said they had not found evidence linking any of the accused to other similar cases.

The rescued baby has been placed in an orphanage in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The district Child Welfare Committee will decide the next course of action regarding the infant.

Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the execution of the death penalty awarded to Indian Mujahideen operative Ahmed Bawa alias Abbu Abubakar Barelvi in 2008 Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts case. A bench of Justices Vikram Nath, AG Masih and Sandeep Mehta issued notice to the Gujarat government on Bawa's plea challenging the Gujarat High Court judgment, which had upheld the death sentence given to him by the trial court. The Supreme Court also called for the records of the trial court and stayed the execution of the death sentence. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the government, told the bench that the case was a serious one.

2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts killed 56

The case relates to a series of 21 bomb blasts that struck different parts of Ahmedabad on July 26, 2008. The explosions took place over around 70 minutes and killed 56 people. More than 200 others were injured. The attack also included explosions at hospitals where victims of the blasts were being taken for treatment. It was the first terror attack in India in which medical facilities were also targeted.

The blasts led to a major investigation involving Indian Mujahideen members and their alleged associates.

While upholding the capital punishment, the High Court referred to the large number of deaths and injuries, the scale of the conspiracy and the prosecution's case that the attacks were intended to create widespread terror.

The High Court said the roles of the 38 convicts and their criminal antecedents had been established during the trial. It also noted that the special court had considered both aggravating and mitigating circumstances before deciding the sentences.

The court said the way the blasts were carried out showed the extent of the conspiracy and the loss of innocent lives.

It also noted that some convicts had criminal antecedents and that none had shown remorse. The judgment further referred to disciplinary action taken against some of them during their imprisonment.

11 convicts get life imprisonment

The High Court upheld life sentences for 11 other accused, finding their involvement in the wider conspiracy established but treating their roles differently from those of the 38 sentenced to death.

According to the judgment, the prosecution established that these convicts had taken part in terror training camps in Gujarat and Kerala and had provided logistical support.

Their alleged roles included procuring scooters, plastic containers and clocks used in the conspiracy. Some were also accused of arranging accommodation and shelter for other accused persons.

The High Court said the prosecution had successfully established these roles through the evidence presented during the trial.

78 accused were put on trial

A total of 78 people were put on trial in the case.

The investigation involved 35 police cases, including 20 FIRs linked to the Ahmedabad blasts and 15 cases concerning unexploded bombs recovered in Surat. These cases were later clubbed together for the trial.

In February 2022, a special court convicted 49 accused. The court sentenced 38 of them to death and awarded life imprisonment to 11 others. The remaining convicted persons received different sentences.

The 2022 verdict was significant as it was the first time an Indian court had sentenced 38 people to death in a single case.

The Gujarat government had subsequently sought confirmation of the death sentences from the High Court.

High Court cites scale of terror conspiracy

While confirming the sentences, the Gujarat High Court pointed to the scale of the attack and the loss of life.

The court referred to the 'humongous' nature of the conspiracy, the intention to create widespread terror and the impact of the blasts on innocent people.

It also upheld the fines imposed on the convicts. The court said the scale of the offence, damage to public property and large number of deaths and injuries justified the financial penalties.

The High Court's judgment is now being challenged before the Supreme Court by at least one of the death-row convicts.

Compensation ordered for victims' families

The High Court also directed the Gujarat government to pay compensation to the victims' families.

Families of those killed in the blasts are to receive Rs 10 lakh each, while those who suffered grievous injuries are to receive Rs 5 lakh each.

The court directed that the compensation be paid before March 30, 2027.

Safdar Nagori among the convicts

The convicts include Safdar Nagori, a former leader of the banned Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), along with associates from several states.

The accused came from states including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Uttar Pradesh. The prosecution case covered both the Ahmedabad blasts and the recovery of unexploded bombs in Surat.

The Supreme Court's order on Thursday does not decide the final outcome of Bawa's appeal. It has only stayed his execution while the court considers his challenge to the High Court judgment.

Police said the incident took place on Wednesday night at the woman's rented apartment in the Nayapalli area. According to the complaint filed at Nayapalli police station, the accused knocked on the door when the woman’s elder sister was away. Believing that her sister had returned, the woman opened the door. The man allegedly entered the flat, threatened her with a gun and raped her.

Police teams examine CCTV footage

Bhubaneswar DCP Saravana Vivek M told news agency PTI that the woman lives in the apartment with her elder sister, while the owner stays on another floor of the building.

“According to the victim, her sister went outside for some work. At that time, the accused knocked on the door. Assuming it was her sister, the victim opened the door, and the incident took place,” the DCP said.

Senior police officers have visited the spot as part of the investigation. Police have formed multiple teams to trace the accused and are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas.

The woman has undergone a medical examination, while her statement has been recorded as per procedure, police said.

BJD seeks immediate arrest

The incident has also drawn a political response in Bhubaneswar. The opposition BJD submitted a memorandum to the DCP, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused.

The party described the incident as serious and disturbing and raised concerns about the safety and security of women in the capital city.

Police are continuing efforts to identify the masked man and establish the sequence of events.

A 25-year-old man from Rajasthan has been arrested in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, for allegedly stealing gold, cash and other valuables worth around Rs 1.10 crore from his female friend’s house. According to police, the accused wanted to contest the sarpanch election in his village and allegedly stole the valuables to arrange money for the campaign and fund his expensive lifestyle. The accused has been identified as Gopal Jakhar, also known as Gopi, a resident of Garasani village in Jodhpur district, Rajasthan. Police have arrested him and recovered valuables worth approximately Rs 1.08 crore to Rs 1.10 crore. Further questioning is underway to determine whether any stolen items are still missing.

Items Worth Crore Stolen From The Woman's House

The theft took place at a residence in BCM Park, Nepania, under the jurisdiction of Lasudia police station in Indore. According to police, valuables kept inside a cupboard were stolen between August 10 and September 13, 2026.

The woman reported the theft, following which police launched an investigation. The initial complaint put the value of the missing items at around Rs 1.5 crore, according to report by Aaj Tak.

During the investigation, police recovered the following items from the accused:

A gold biscuit weighing approximately 630 grams
A gold chain weighing 40 grams Rs 2 lakh in cash
An Apple iPhone 17

Police estimated the value of the recovered items at between Rs 1.08 crore and Rs 1.10 crore. The difference between the amount mentioned in the initial complaint and the value of the recovered valuables is yet to be clarified.

Accused Planned To Contest Sarpanch Election

According to police, Jakhar was planning to contest the sarpanch election in his village and needed money for the campaign. Investigators suspect that he knew about the gold biscuit and other valuables kept inside his female friend's cupboard.

Police allege that he stole the items to arrange funds for his electoral ambitions and meet the expenses of his lifestyle. However, these claims form part of the ongoing investigation, and the allegations against him have not been established in court.

Switched Off Phone After Alleged Theft

Police said the accused left after the alleged theft and switched off his mobile phone, making it difficult to trace him. Following the complaint, officers began searching for the missing valuables and investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation eventually led police to Jakhar, who was arrested with the recovered items. He is currently being questioned in police custody.

Investigators are trying to establish whether the accused sold, transferred or concealed any of the remaining valuables. Police are also examining the circumstances of the alleged theft as part of the ongoing probe.

A stolen iPhone case in Dehradun, Uttarakhand has taken an unusual turn after the alleged thief reportedly contacted the owner's sister and asked for the phone's password. The incident was reported from Sunshine Enclave in Clement Town, where the phone allegedly went missing from a room on September 12. The owner's sister, Kaushiki Dhyani, has now raised questions over the police response and shared details of the alleged messages on social media.

iPhone allegedly stolen from room

According to Dhyani, her brother Saksham was using the iPhone at around 6.30 am on September 12. By around 8.45 am, the phone was missing from the room. The family checked CCTV footage from the building and allegedly found two suspicious people moving towards and away from the room. The door was reportedly open at the time.

Dhyani said her brother filed a complaint with police on September 13.

The matter took another turn when someone allegedly began sending messages to Dhyani's mobile number, asking for the password of the stolen iPhone. She claimed several messages were received from the person and said screenshots and other information would be provided to police.

Woman questions police action

Dhyani alleged that she went to the police station at around 10 pm after receiving the password-related message. However, she claimed she was asked to return the following morning.

In a social media video, she questioned why action had not been taken despite the family having CCTV footage, images of suspected individuals and messages allegedly sent by the person who had the phone.

She also suggested that the messages could provide an important lead for investigators because the person was allegedly contacting a member of the victim's family.

Other thefts claimed near universities

Dhyani further claimed that CCTV footage linked to the same suspected person had surfaced in connection with other theft incidents around DIT University and Graphic Era University.

She alleged that students in the areas had reported missing mobile phones and other belongings. However, these claims have not been independently established, and it is not clear whether the incidents are connected to the Clement Town case.

She urged police to examine CCTV footage and other evidence from the different locations together.

Police say phone is being traced

SP City Shekhar Suyal said information about the missing mobile phone had been obtained from the concerned Circle Officer.

According to the police, the phone was registered on the police portal for tracing from the day it was reported missing. The authorities are also checking CCTV footage and the concerned CO will examine the matter further.

The investigation is ongoing, and the identity of the person who allegedly contacted Dhyani is yet to be officially established.

The incident took place at around 9 pm on Thursday at the family’s residence. According to police, the teenager had been living separately from his parents. He had expressed a desire to meet his mother that evening, following which his father called him home.

Teen attacks mother during argument

After reaching the apartment, the teenager and his mother reportedly got into an argument over an issue. During the heated exchange, he allegedly attacked her repeatedly with a wrench, causing her death at the spot.

Police said the boy later called his father and informed him about the killing, according to a report by India Today. He also contacted the police. Senior officers, including the local DCP, reached the residence, while a forensic team examined the scene and collected evidence.

Family had disagreements over teenager's sexuality

Police said there had been long-standing disagreements within the family over the teenager’s homosexuality. The family had reportedly decided to keep him away from home because of concerns about social stigma.

His father also told police that the boy had been experiencing mental health-related difficulties and had received treatment at different hospitals. Police are examining this history as part of the investigation, without drawing any conclusion about its connection to the killing.

Around four months ago, the family had rented a separate room for the teenager in Lucknow, about 1.5 km from their home. His family provided him with money each month for his living expenses.

The teenager is the couple’s only child. His father is a clothes trader.

Four members of a family have been sentenced to a life imprisonment in Rajasthan for murder of a young woman. A special SC/ST court in Tonk has sentenced a woman, her two sons and daughter to life imprisonment for conspiring to kill 25-year-old Suman, who was in a relationship with one of the accused, Pradhan. The court also imposed a combined fine of Rs 1.35 lakh on the four convicts.

Woman killed after asking partner to marry her

Suman and Pradhan were both residents of Jaipur and had roots in Tonk district. According to the prosecution, the two were in a relationship, but problems began when Suman started asking Pradhan to marry her. Pradhan allegedly avoided the issue 'because the couple belonged to different castes'. The prosecution said he then conspired with his mother Sanjana, brother Sawai Ram and sister Sushila to kill Suman in 2022, according to a report by Aaj Tak.

Suman was allegedly called to their village on the pretext of attending a Shraddh ceremony. There, she was made to consume a poisonous chemical.

Pradhan informed Suman's brother about her condition three days later and asked him to come to Ajmer, where Suman had already died. Her family was allegedly led to believe that she had died after a snakebite. They subsequently performed her last rites in September 2022.

Postmortem exposed the murder

The case took a different turn when Suman's postmortem report showed that she had died after consuming a poisonous chemical.

Suspicion then fell on Pradhan after investigators found that around Rs 80,000 had been withdrawn from Suman's bank account using her ATM card. Suman's brother filed a complaint in May 2023, following which police registered a case and began investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

During the probe, investigators alleged that Suman's murder had been planned after she insisted that Pradhan marry her.

Court relies on 27 witnesses

Special Judge Aarti Maheshwari based the verdict on the statements of 27 witnesses and 37 documents presented during the trial. The court sentenced Sanjana, her sons Pradhan and Sawai Ram, and daughter Sushila to life imprisonment.

Sanjana and Sawai Ram were already in judicial custody in Jaipur in another murder case involving Sanjana's husband, Jagdish. They were brought to Tonk on production warrants in connection with the Suman murder case.

In that separate case, police had alleged that Sanjana and Sawai Ram killed Jagdish with an axe following a dispute over his drinking and behaviour.

The woman, identified as Upsorn, approached Additional DCP East Shiva Singh in Kanpur on Tuesday and submitted her complaint. She alleged that she had spent around Rs 55 lakh on two expensive sports bikes for Mohammad Irfan during their relationship.

According to Upsorn, she began asking Irfan to return the money after he started distancing himself from her. She alleged that he initially avoided her calls and later stopped communicating with her altogether.

Upsorn, who is from Thailand, told police that she runs a restaurant business there. Irfan used to travel to Thailand for business, and the two became acquainted through social media.

Their meetings continued and, according to Upsorn, they remained in contact for around four years. She said they eventually married two years ago in accordance with Thai traditions.

The woman reportedly showed police photographs, wedding cards and other documents related to the marriage. She also produced pictures of rings that she said were specially made with both their names and exchanged during the wedding.

Upsorn claimed that after the marriage, she wanted Irfan to live with her. However, she alleged that his attitude changed and that he told her she would have to accept Islam and wear a burqa if she wanted to stay with him in India.

She said she refused to change her religion.

Upsorn alleged that after she refused to convert, she started asking Irfan to return the money she had spent on him. According to her complaint, he kept delaying the repayment before eventually cutting off contact.

She said Irfan returned to India in February 2026. At first, he allegedly told her that he was unwell. However, she claimed that communication later stopped completely.

After repeated attempts to contact him failed, Upsorn travelled to Kanpur on Monday with an acquaintance. She then went to Irfan's house on Latouche Road.

It was there, she claimed, that she discovered Irfan was already married and had three children.

According to the woman's complaint, Irfan initially refused to recognise her when she reached his house. She alleged that he later acknowledged knowing her, but an argument followed.

Upsorn has alleged that Irfan again pressured her over conversion and that she was beaten and verbally abused when she objected.

After the incident, she approached police officials along with lawyer Mehtab Ali and submitted details of her allegations.

The police have now registered a case against Irfan based on her complaint. DCP Central Atul Kumar Srivastava said the case includes allegations related to fraud, assault and pressure to convert. Police are investigating the matter.

Rs 55 lakh spent on two sports bikes, woman claims

One of the main allegations concerns two expensive sports bikes.

Upsorn told police that Irfan was fond of luxury cars and sports motorcycles. She claimed that she paid for bikes on two of his birthdays.

According to her, around Rs 21 lakh was paid for the first bike and approximately Rs 34 lakh for the second. Together, she claimed, the two motorcycles cost around Rs 55 lakh.

Irfan has reportedly posted videos of himself with expensive bikes on social media. His Instagram account, identified as "M Ek Vlogge", is said to contain videos related to buying and riding motorcycles in Kanpur.

Upsorn also claimed that Irfan owns three expensive cars.

Upsorn told police that she runs a restaurant and canteen business in Thailand. She alleged that she eventually ran short of money while continuing to spend on Irfan.

She claimed that she mortgaged her restaurant with a bank and took a loan to arrange more money. When that was still not enough, she allegedly borrowed money from her sister and other relatives.

According to her, she continued giving money to Irfan but is now unable to recover it, reported Aaj Tak.

She has told police that she wants her money returned and has submitted material that she believes supports her claim about their relationship and marriage.

Police investigation has also revealed that Irfan's first marriage took place in 2012. He has three children.

His family lives in an old house in a lane in Iftikharabad. Police said Irfan was arrested from the same house.

Irfan is also reported to be involved in a tannery business in Jajmau under the name "Irfan Tannery". The business is reportedly run in partnership with a person named Rehan.

Local residents have told police that Irfan's lifestyle had changed considerably over the past few years and that he was often seen using expensive cars.

Irfan's mother has denied all the allegations made by Upsorn. She claimed that the Thai woman was trying to trap her son for money and was blackmailing him.

According to his mother, Irfan had told the family that he had suffered losses in business. She said family members had also helped him financially.

She rejected the claim that the sports bikes were bought with the woman's money, saying Irfan purchased them from his own earnings. She added that his father had also been unhappy with his spending on expensive bikes.

On Irfan's trips to Thailand, his mother said his father had tried to stop him from travelling there. She acknowledged that the family knew about some aspects of his relationship with the woman but said they did not interfere in his personal life, according to Aaj Tak report.

The mother further claimed that Upsorn had been putting pressure on Irfan for a long time. She alleged that the woman was already a mother and was using the relationship to blackmail her son.

She said Irfan had been under mental stress because of the situation.

After his arrest, Irfan was brought before the media late on Tuesday night. He had covered his face with a handkerchief and became emotional while journalists questioned him.

The case now hinges on the allegations made by Upsorn, the documents and photographs submitted by her and the evidence collected by police. Police officials said they are continuing their investigation into the alleged fraud, assault and pressure to convert.

Himashri Boro, a student of B Borooah College in Guwahati, had travelled to Visakhapatnam on September 30 as part of an Assamese dance troupe that was attending a programme. She later boarded train number 22503 for her return journey to Guwahati.

Boro’s family said they remained in contact with her during the journey. According to them, she spoke to a friend during the trip and reportedly said some boys were bullying and misbehaving with her.

The family said her phone later became unreachable. They subsequently alerted the Railway Protection Force and police and reported her missing.

The family later searched the S2 coach in which she had been travelling and found two bags and documents believed to belong to her. Railway police also collected CCTV and other video footage from the journey.

CCTV footage that has surfaced shows Boro walking along a railway platform before boarding a departing train. An unidentified man can be seen approaching her and appearing to speak to her.

As the train began moving, Boro boarded along with other passengers. The man also appeared to try to board before getting off.

Another video, reportedly recorded by Boro during the journey and sent to a friend, shows her standing in the train aisle with several men around her. The identities of the people seen in the footage and the circumstances in which it was recorded have not been established.

The family has also alleged that some young men in the same coach made obscene gestures towards her. They said she was also in regular contact with a woman identified as Jyoti Choudhury. These claims have not been independently verified.

Railway police later recovered Boro’s body beside a railway track at Tekkalipuram in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district and informed her family.

The cause of death has not yet been established. Investigators are examining how Boro left the train, what happened before her death and whether anyone else was involved.

A special POCSO court in Thane, Maharashtra has sentenced a man to five years' rigorous imprisonment for sexually harassing a minor girl and her friends after creating a fake Facebook profile in the teenager’s name. Judge Dr Anita S Newase convicted Mangesh Ishwardas Tambe, a resident of Rahuri in Ahilyanagar district, under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Information Technology Act., according to news agency PTI.

Fake profile used to target minor

The case relates to incidents reported between December 2017 and March 15, 2018. The 16-year-old complainant, who lived in Uttan, Bhayandar West, received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number. The sender introduced himself as 'Vidya', leading the girl to believe she was speaking to another person. The conversation initially appeared normal. However, the sender later began sending obscene messages and vulgar photographs.

The girl became suspicious and made a video call. She discovered that the person behind the number was a man and blocked him.

According to the prosecution, Tambe then created a fake Facebook profile using the girl’s name. He allegedly used the account to send friend requests, vulgar messages and sexually explicit photographs and videos to the girl’s 12-year-old friend, her cousin and other acquaintances, the PTI report added.

A complaint was subsequently filed at Uttan Sagari police station, following which Tambe was arrested on March 22, 2018.

Court orders five-year jail term

The court sentenced Tambe to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 under Section 67-A of the Information Technology Act. He was also sentenced to three years’ rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 10,000 under Section 354-A of the IPC.

The sentences will run concurrently. The court directed that the fine be given to the minor victims as compensation.

While delivering the verdict, the court observed that sexual assault and harassment affect not only victims but society as a whole, and can push victims into a deep emotional crisis.

Tambe’s lawyer, Sandip Yewale, sought leniency, citing his age, family responsibilities and the period he had already spent in custody. The court considered his detention for the purpose of set-off under Section 428 of the CrPC. It noted custody periods from March 29, 2018 to May 2, 2023, and from September 4, 2026 to September 30, 2026.

The court also ordered the seized mobile phones, pen drives and other material to be destroyed after the appeal period ends.

Three cousins from Gujarat's Mehsana had gone missing while they were on way to the United States illegally via Ethiopia. Police said that they were abducted in Ethiopia and now have been safely released and returned to India. The three, identified as Rutvik Jansari, 23, from Vadsma village in Mehsana, Mamta Chavda, 30, originally from Mehsana and now living in Ahmedabad, and Mayuri Solanki, 27, from Gandhinagar, reached India on October 1.

Gujarat cousins' illegal route to US

According to Langhnaj police station inspector AM Gehlot, as quoted by news agency PTI, the three left for the US on September 20 through an illegal route. Chavda had reportedly applied for a US visa six times but was unsuccessful.

Her husband has been in the US on a student visa for around six months. Police said Chavda's parents then decided to send her to the US through an illegal route along with Jansari and Solanki.

On September 22, Chavda spoke to her father, Kirit Chauhan. The family then lost contact with the three, prompting Chauhan to approach Langhnaj police and file a missing persons complaint.

The family later learned that the three had allegedly been taken captive after reaching Ethiopia.

Kidnappers demanded Rs 1 crore ransom

According to police, Chauhan received a call from an international number from a man who identified himself as Babakhan. The caller allegedly claimed that the three cousins were in his custody and demanded Rs 1 crore for their release.

Babakhan reportedly contacted Chauhan, his relatives and local agent Alpesh Panchal through WhatsApp calls.

Police then began negotiating with the alleged kidnapper through Panchal. Gehlot said officers told him that the family could not afford the ransom and urged him to release the three.

After repeated negotiations, the demand was reportedly reduced to Rs 15 lakh. Police continued to tell the alleged kidnapper that the family could not arrange the money.

The three were eventually released safely, police said. The kidnapper also arranged their return tickets to India for September 30.

Police said no ransom was paid.

Agents under police scanner

The investigation has also revealed the alleged role of agents who arranged the journey.

Police said Chauhan had approached Panchal, a resident of Kadi taluka, to send Chavda, Jansari and Solanki to the US. Panchal allegedly worked with another agent, Bhargav Patel of Vadodara.

According to police, Rs 75 lakh per person had been fixed for sending the three to the US through the illegal route.

Langhnaj police and the Mehsana Local Crime Branch jointly investigated the case after the missing persons complaint.

Investigators examined call records and technical information linked to the three cousins’ mobile numbers. They also questioned the agents involved and analysed their call details and other available technical information.

Police said information about contacts made through WhatsApp and Instagram was obtained from Meta through due legal procedure.

Main agent absconding

Bhargav Patel, described by police as the main agent, remains absconding. Investigators are trying to trace him as the probe into the illegal route and the alleged abduction continues.

The safe return of the three cousins has brought relief to their families, but the investigation remains focused on the agents who allegedly arranged their journey and the circumstances surrounding their detention in Ethiopia.

Woman runs after being sprayed

In the viral video, a man can be heard accusing the woman of being a pickpocket before spraying her clothes with a red substance.

The woman appears to run away while shouting, with the man following her for a short distance. The footage then shows her moving towards security personnel.

The account claimed that security personnel had already removed the woman from the station, but alleged she could simply move to another location and continue targeting people.

A man travelling in a white car with allegedly a police sticker was caught on CCTV stealing a roadside plant from the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat. The unusual incident took place on the stretch between Agarwal Mandi Tatiri and Baraut. CCTV footage from the expressway shows the white car pulling over by the roadside. The footage shows the man stepping out and walking towards a plant growing along the road. He bends down, pulls the plant out of the ground and carries it back to the car. He then places the uprooted plant inside the vehicle before driving away.

Baghpat Police respond to viral post

Similar theft had gone viral earlier

The Baghpat incident also brings to mind a similar case reported in Lucknow in December 2025, when people travelling in a car were allegedly caught on camera taking roadside plants shortly after PM Modi inaugurated Rashtra Prerna Sthal..

That incident had also attracted widespread attention on social media.

In the Baghpat case, however, police have not confirmed the identity of the man or established whether a theft case has been registered. The viral footage has so far prompted an inquiry rather than a confirmed criminal finding.
