A 16-year-old Italian boy has confessed to pushing his 13-year-old ex-girlfriend Aurora Tila from a seventh-floor balcony in Piacenza, Italy, after months of claiming she had taken her own life.

The teenager, who was 15 at the time of the killing in October 2024, was convicted of murder and sentenced to 17 years in prison. During a video link from a juvenile prison on Sunday, he admitted the crime and apologized for waiting so long to tell the truth.

Lawyer Emilio Malaspina, representing Aurora's mother, said: "With confession a circle closes. But we hope that the court will confirm the sentence which established an appropriate penalty."

Victim Had Feared Ex-Boyfriend's Possessive Behavior

The boy had previously maintained that Aurora fell to her death accidentally or took her own life. Detectives found his account did not match the evidence.

According to prosecutors, the pair had been in a relationship for several months before separating because of the boy's allegedly possessive behavior. Investigators uncovered messages where Aurora told friends she felt persecuted by her ex-boyfriend, described him as stalking her, and even asked an AI service for advice on dealing with him.

A witness told police they saw Aurora clinging to the balcony railing while the boy struck her hands, causing her to fall. A former cellmate also claimed the teenager admitted pushing Aurora.

The court found the offense was aggravated by stalking, the victim's age, and the former relationship.

Following Sunday's confession, Malaspina said: "This is a confession that came very late and it will be the court that will assess its weight during the discussion. If this confession were to serve to obtain a reduction of three or four years, we believe that it would be unfair."

Aurora's sister Viktoria had rejected claims that Aurora took her own life, saying she was afraid of her ex-boyfriend. The appeal hearing resumes on September 10.

Owner Says Dog Was Kicked "Like a Football"

"He didn't even just kick her, he toe punted her like she was a football. She flew up in the air and hit the ground and rolled three times," Lewis said. "The driver was walking away and still made the effort to turn around and kick her."

Lewis said the dog was partially blind and had one tooth. Vets concluded Ethel had suffered organ failure caused by blunt force trauma. After being told the animal would have irreversible brain damage, Lewis made the decision to have her put down on Sunday.

"Her blood pressure dropped and they put tubes up her nose. Then they said there's internal bleeding. I went home overnight, but when I came back in the morning, she was pretty much already out of it," she said.

Royal Mail launched an investigation and promised to pay the family's vet bills. A spokesman said: "We are deeply sorry for this distressing incident. We are treating this matter very seriously. We have seen the footage and launched a full investigation."

Safeguarding measures have been put in place and no arrests have been made, police said.

A 4-year-old girl was murdered by her own parents and dissolved in corrosive chemicals before being poured into a creek, police said.

According to the Daily Mail, Javeayah Harris was believed to have been dead for a month before her parents, Michilae Herring and Johnmarea Harris, reported her missing on June 30. The pair told police she was last seen at the family home just outside Aiken, South Carolina, and claimed she vanished into thin air.

Police now believe Herring inflicted a fatal injury on Javeayah and then used corrosive substances to dispose of her. She was "poured" into a lake in what Aiken County Sheriff Marty Sawyer branded "repulsive and revolting."

Sheriff Refuses to Call Them Parents

"I will not refer to them as mom and dad or mother or father, they don't deserve that title," Sawyer said. He added that the couple had taken "extensive and deliberate efforts" and used "corrosive chemicals and other tools" to "accelerate the destruction of her little body."

Parts of Javeayah's body were discovered in the Cedar Creek Reservoir and identified through DNA testing. Her father is a fisherman, sharing images as recent as late May fishing in a creek.

"They went through great lengths to cover their repulsive and revolting actions. In my 37-year career in law enforcement, I've never heard of anything so horrific. It is unlikely the entirety of her body will be recovered," Sawyer said.

He called it "one of the most difficult, deeply disturbing, and emotionally taxing investigations this office has ever worked."

A 20-year-old woman was exhumed from the mud floor of a room in her matrimonial home in Siddharthnagar's Chak Majhari village after her husband was accused of killing her and filing a false missing complaint.

The victim was identified as Mufidan. Police said her husband Shamsher, 22, allegedly murdered her, dug a pit nearly 6 feet deep inside the house, buried her body, plastered the floor with fresh mud, and placed a cot over the spot. He continued sleeping on the cot for several days before filing a missing person complaint.

According to police, Shamsher, a labourer who worked in Mumbai, came in contact with Mufidan's father Majhar during visits to his home in Sant Kabir Nagar. The couple later eloped and married on June 1 with family consent.

Relationship Soured Due to Suspicion

Police said the relationship deteriorated soon after the marriage, with frequent quarrels. Investigators alleged Shamsher suspected his wife of talking to another man on the phone, leading to the murder.

On July 13, Shamsher filed a missing person complaint. However, Mufidan's mother, Safidunisha, submitted a separate complaint alleging her son-in-law and his parents killed her daughter and concealed the body.

Police searched the house on Wednesday, noticed signs of fresh plastering, excavated the spot and recovered the body.

After the recovery, Shamsher, his father Nibar, and mother Khushboonisha fled. An FIR was registered against all three. Dumariyaganj Circle Officer Brijesh Verma said the body was sent for post-mortem, and multiple teams were formed to arrest the accused.

A 55-year-old tea vendor was beaten to death by residents of a housing complex in Kulsumpura, Hyderabad, for allegedly molesting a nine-year-old girl on Thursday evening.

The accused, whose wife had deserted him, lived with his mother in a flat in the complex, which houses around 80 families. The child was sitting on a parked two-wheeler in the society's parking lot around 3pm when the accused approached her and struck up a conversation.

Kulsumpura ACP V Tirupathi said the accused touched the child inappropriately on the pretext of buying her chocolates. A neighbour noticed this and confronted him, after which he quickly left the spot.

Residents Checked CCTV Footage Before Attacking

Seeing the child's distressed condition, the neighbour alerted her family. Residents later checked CCTV footage and concluded that the accused had molested the minor. The accused returned to the complex around 6.30pm, allegedly inebriated.

Angry family members and other residents thrashed him. Around 7pm, police received a call and rushed to the spot. Cops shifted the accused to Kulsumpura police station, where a 108 ambulance was called. Police registered a POCSO case based on a complaint by the girl's family.

While being shifted to hospital, the accused complained of uneasiness. He was taken to Osmania General Hospital, where he succumbed to internal injuries during treatment.

The tea vendor's mother filed a counter-complaint, alleging her son died of injuries sustained in the assault. Cops registered a case under BNS Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder). Police are waiting for the post-mortem report and will scan CCTV footage to identify the attackers.

Police identified the victim as Suresh Jalgara, who was reportedly playing rummy when five men arrived at the club, according to a report by the Hindu.
