Police search for dog and woman

Following the circulation of the footage on social media, the District Police Office, Bajhang, sent a team to inspect Pankot Bridge and the surrounding area.

Police said they could not locate the dog during their search. Its condition and whereabouts therefore remain unknown.

Authorities are also working to establish the identity of the woman seen in the footage and verify exactly what happened. Police have not yet independently confirmed all the details visible in the viral video.

The incident has prompted calls for an investigation into possible animal cruelty.

A casual conversation on a dating app allegedly turned into a costly cyber fraud for a 41-year-old man from west Delhi. Police said that the man lost around Rs 82.5 lakh after being promised huge profits from an online business. according to a report by the Times of India. The man came in contact with a woman who introduced herself as Luna last year. She allegedly claimed to be a Singapore national working for a multinational company in Bengaluru.

WhatsApp group and crypto transfers

After gaining his confidence, Luna reportedly told him about an online store she was running through a mobile app. She claimed to be making substantial profits and encouraged him to start a similar business. The conversation later moved to WhatsApp, where the man was added to a group and introduced to another woman named Bella.

He initially transferred Rs 10,000 to an account. He was subsequently persuaded to use cryptocurrency platforms to transfer larger amounts, according to his complaint.

At one point, the man managed to withdraw around Rs 2 lakh from the platform. This appeared to convince him that the online business was genuine and that his money was secure.

The accused allegedly later told him that the value of his account credit had fallen and that he needed to deposit $25,000, or nearly Rs 24 lakh, to restore access to certain benefits.

He made the payment, police said.

Victim asked for another Rs 34 lakh

Overall, the man claimed to have transferred around Rs 82.5 lakh to different accounts controlled by the accused.

The situation took another turn when he was allegedly told that his 'collaboration' with members of the group had been detected. His withdrawals were reportedly restricted, and he was asked to pay another $35,000, around Rs 34 lakh, as a margin deposit to resolve the issue.

By then, the man became suspicious. He was subsequently removed from the WhatsApp group and lost access to his profile. Unable to withdraw his money, he realised that the online business was allegedly part of a carefully planned fraud.

He approached the police, following which a case was registered. The complaint is now being investigated.

How to prevent yourself from such online scams

Never invest money in an online business solely because someone you meet on a dating app promises guaranteed or unusually high returns. Verify the person and company independently, avoid transferring cryptocurrency to unknown wallets, and never pay extra money to unlock withdrawals.

Be especially cautious when strangers create urgency or demand additional deposits to recover your money.

A Threat to Safe Navigation: Pakistan's Repeated Violations of International Waters

On the evening of 15 September, in international waters of North Arabian Sea, roughly 120 to 130 nautical miles east of the Omani coast, a Pakistan Navy vessel closed on an Indian warship engaged in routine surveillance. The Pakistani ship, identified as the patrol vessel PNS Hunain, ignored repeated warnings issued on Channel 16, the maritime distress and calling frequency, then abruptly increased speed and crossed the Indian warship's bow from starboard, its own bow brushing the Indian hull. No injuries were recorded, no structural damage was sustained, and the Indian vessel resumed its mission.

That nobody died is the least significant fact about the episode.

The rules that were disregarded that evening are not Indian rules. They are the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea of 1972, the COLREGs, which bind every vessel on the high seas, warships included. Rule 13 places the entire burden of keeping clear on a vessel overtaking another, regardless of which side the approach comes from; Rule 8 demands that any avoiding action be positive, taken in ample time, and evident to the other ship; and Rule 2 requires the ordinary practice of seamen to govern throughout, obliging every vessel to take whatever action necessary to avoid collision once risk exists, irrespective of who technically holds the right of way. A manoeuvre conducted at speed, across the bow of a larger vessel, after warnings have gone unanswered, satisfies none of these. Whatever one concludes about the contact itself, the manoeuvre that produced it was a decision.

New Delhi's protest rested on a second instrument. The Ministry of External Affairs described the conduct as being in direct contravention of Article 10 of the April 1991 Agreement between India and Pakistan on Advance Notice on Military Exercises, Manoeuvres and Troops Movements. The citation carries an unmistakable echo. In June 2011, after PNS Babur came close to INS Godavari in the Gulf of Aden, India lodged a formal protest invoking precisely the same two authorities: the collision regulations and Article 10 of the 1991 agreement. Fifteen years, two incidents, one script.

Indian officials describe the latest episode as the second such close-manoeuvre incident in six months. Conduct that recurs on this pattern is no longer plausibly explained as inexperience on the bridge.

The consequence extends far beyond two grey hulls. The North Arabian Sea is not empty ocean. It is the approach corridor to the Strait of Hormuz, through which a substantial share of the world's seaborne crude and liquefied natural gas transits, and it is presently crowded with naval traffic on both sides. India has been running Operation Urja Suraksha over the same period to escort shipping

bound for its ports. Warships, escorts, tankers and bulk carriers are compressed into the same lanes, in the same weather, under the same rules.

This is why the merchant fleet has a direct stake in the standard of seamanship displayed on 15 September. A frigate can absorb a glancing blow and steam on. A laden very large crude carrier

cannot. It requires several kilometres to stop and answers its helm with a delay measured in minutes, not seconds. A navy that treats collision-avoidance rules as discretionary when the other vessel is armed and manoeuvrable is a navy that has normalised habits it will carry into encounters with vessels that are neither. The risk is not hypothetical: it is a hull breach, a spill in one of the world's most sensitive energy corridors, and war-risk premiums that climb for every operator on the route, irrespective of flag.

Islamabad has advanced a different account. Its Foreign Office summoned India's Chargé d'Affaires, alleging that an Indian vessel conducted aggressive manoeuvres in dangerously close proximity within Pakistan's Exclusive Economic Zone during the SEASPARK-26 exercise, and invoked the same 1991 agreement. Two features of that submission deserve attention. An EEZ confers rights over resources, not sovereignty over the water column; freedom of navigation is preserved there under the Law of the Sea Convention, and its invocation cannot convert lawful transit into trespass.

That is the strategic hazard. The 1991 agreement was drafted to govern the notification of exercises; it is not an incidents-at-sea regime of the kind the United States and the Soviet Union concluded in 1972, with agreed signals, defined standoff distances and an annual review mechanism. India and Pakistan have never built that architecture. In its absence, each encounter is arbitrated by the judgement of a duty officer, and the machinery available afterwards consists of a summons and a démarche.

Three steps follow. India should publish the evidentiary record, including track data and bridge audio, because in a contest of competing narratives the documentary record is the only effective remedy. It should press, through third parties if necessary, for a bilateral incidents-at-sea agreement. And it should raise the matter where commercial shipping is represented, at the International Maritime Organization, so that the question ceases to be read as a subcontinental quarrel and is recognised for what it is.

The high seas are held in common. A state that observes the rules of the road only when convenient is not asserting its sovereignty. It is borrowing against everyone else's safety.

22-Year-Old Delhi Man Chased And Stabbed 17 Times Over 'Affair' With Sister

A 22-year-old man was allegedly chased and stabbed 17 times in East Delhi’s Mandawali area following an argument over a minor issue. Police said the two men have been arrested in connection with the killing. The victim, identified as Vansh, was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon near Gyan Vatika School on Thursday evening. Police received information about the incident at around 8 pm on September 10 and sent a team to the spot. Vansh was found injured and was rushed to Max Hospital, where doctors later declared him dead.

Two men chased Vansh after argument

According to the preliminary investigation, Vansh had an argument with one of the accused shortly before the stabbing. Police said the accused, identified as 22-year-old Keshav Kumar, a resident of Karawal Nagar, then chased Vansh along with another associate.

The two allegedly caught up with him near Gyan Vatika School and attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon before fleeing the area.

Police suspect the accused believed that Vansh was having an affair with Keshav Kumar’s sister. Investigators are questioning both arrested men to establish the exact sequence of events and determine what led to the attack.

Knife, clothes and motorcycle recovered

Police have recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack, along with the clothes worn by the accused at the time of the incident. Their motorcycle has also been seized.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in and around the area. The footage is expected to help police track the accused’s movements and reconstruct what happened before, during and after the stabbing.

Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and took the body into custody. An investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.

Koli was one of the key accused in the Nithari killings, which came to light in Noida in December 2006 after human remains were recovered near House D-5 in Sector 31.

The case involved the disappearance and deaths of several children and a young woman in and around Nithari. Koli, who worked as a domestic helper for businessman Moninder Singh Pandher, was convicted in multiple cases and was initially sentenced to death.

However, the legal case later took a major turn. In October 2023, the Allahabad High Court acquitted Koli and Pandher in the cases before it, citing a lack of evidence. The Supreme Court subsequently dismissed the Uttar Pradesh government's appeals against several of those acquittals in July 2025.

Koli was released after the court proceedings cleared the way for his release. He later reportedly moved to Haridwar, where he had been running a small tea shop in Bhupatwala.

Police are now investigating what happened before his death and whether any circumstances surrounding his recent life may have played a role. No confirmed information about a suicide note or the reason behind the reported suicide has been made public so far.

The body has been taken for further legal proceedings, including post-mortem examination.

Four family members found dead

Police received information about the murders at around 10 am on Friday. When officers reached the house in Jaipur's Kardhani area, they found Geeta Jha's body in a room on the first floor.

The bodies of the couple's daughters, 22-year-old Nandini, 18-year-old Radhika and their 14-year-old daughter, were found in two separate rooms on the ground floor. Police recovered the stone suspected to have been used in the attack. Investigators believe the victims may have been assaulted while they were in deep sleep.

DCP (West) Prashant Kiran said police were informed about the deaths in the morning and an investigation was launched.

Accused allegedly served tea to father

What happened after the alleged murders has emerged as one of the most disturbing parts of the case. According to police, Jha appeared to carry on with his routine the next morning. At around 7 am, he collected milk from the milkman and later prepared tea for his elderly father, Lakshminath.

He allegedly served the tea to his father himself before leaving the house and fleeing. Police are now searching for Jha and working to establish what happened in the hours between the alleged killings and his escape.

Police examine financial, family dispute angles

Jha was involved in share trading and had reportedly returned to Jaipur from Gujarat only a few days before the incident.

His wife, Geeta, ran a boutique on the first floor of the family home. Their eldest daughter, Nandini, was also working in a private job while pursuing her studies.

Investigators reportedly learnt that Jha had borrowed Rs 25,000 from a neighbour three days before the alleged murders. Police are examining whether financial difficulties played a role in the killings.

A possible family dispute is also being investigated, though police have not yet established a clear motive.

The search for Jha is on as investigators question people connected to the family and work to find out the events that led to the deaths.

Attack at DVC residential colony

The shooting took place around 7.30 pm on Thursday in Pashchim Palli of the DVC Residential Colony, under Chandrapura police station. According to police, the attackers knocked on the door of the family's quarters. When the door was opened, they allegedly fired several rounds at Naresh and Renu. The couple died at the spot.

The assailants then opened fire at Rohit, who suffered three gunshot wounds. Police said at least 12 rounds were fired during the attack.

Thunder masked sound of gunfire

Chandrapura police station in-charge Vikram Kumar Badal said the area was experiencing loud thunder and lightning when the shooting happened. The noise reportedly masked the sound of the gunshots, allowing the attackers to escape before neighbours realised what had happened.

Police suspect that two or three people were involved in the attack.

Bermo Sub-divisional Police Officer Ravindra Kumar said the preliminary investigation pointed towards previous animosity. Police are also examining the possibility of involvement by relatives of the family.

Forensic teams deployed

Rohit underwent surgery after being taken to hospital, but his condition remains critical. The family originally hails from Bihar's Gaya district.

Forensic experts and a dog squad have been deployed at the crime scene. Police said the bodies would undergo post-mortem examination on Friday. A detailed investigation is underway to establish the motive and identify those responsible. Police teams are conducting raids at several locations to trace and arrest the suspects.

Preliminary postmortem indicates possible hanging

Sonila's body was sent for a postmortem examination as part of the investigation. Police said the preliminary findings point towards a possible death by hanging, according to a report by India Today. However, officers are awaiting the short postmortem report before determining the exact cause and circumstances of her death.

Police have not reached a final conclusion about how Sonila died and are continuing to examine different possibilities.

Man reportedly stayed in room for 40 minutes

Investigators have learnt that Sonila arrived at the hotel before Khandelwal. He reportedly reached the room around an hour after her arrival.

According to police, Khandelwal remained inside the room for around 40 minutes before leaving. He then informed hotel staff that Sonila was unconscious inside the room.

Hotel staff arranged for her to be taken to hospital, but doctors could not save her.

Police are now trying to trace Khandelwal, whose account could be important in establishing what happened inside room number 101 before Sonila was found unconscious.

CCTV footage examined

CCTV footage from the hotel has also become part of the investigation.

The footage reportedly shows Sonila being taken to a car and transported to hospital. Police are examining the recordings to establish the sequence of events and verify the movements of people connected to the case.

Investigators are also looking at what happened before and after Khandelwal left the room.

Family statements being recorded

Police are recording statements from Sonila's family members as the investigation continues. Following the postmortem, her family took her body to Rajgarh for the last rites.

Officials said more details are expected after the short postmortem report is received and Khandelwal is questioned. Police are continuing efforts to locate him and establish the circumstances that led to Sonila's death.

At present, police have not publicly concluded that Khandelwal was responsible for her death, and the circumstances surrounding the case remain under investigation.

Lawyer Among 4 Arrested for Rs 11 Lakh Robbery Near Flyover in Chennai

Four men, including a practising lawyer, have been arrested in connection with the robbery of Rs 11 lakh from a private bank employee near the Vani Mahal flyover in Chennai's T Nagar. Police said that the victim, A Karthikeyan, a resident of Kundrathur, was returning on his two-wheeler on Wednesday night after collecting Rs 12 lakh in cash from Parrys Corner when the crime took place. Police added that he had collected the money on the instructions of his uncle, who is based in Malaysia.

Gang intercepts bank employee on flyover

According to investigators, Karthikeyan kept Rs 1 lakh in his trouser pocket and placed the remaining Rs 11 lakh in a bag. As he travelled along GN Chetty Road and reached the Vani Mahal flyover, a group of men on motorcycles intercepted him.

Police said the attackers blocked his way and threatened him before snatching the bag containing Rs 11 lakh. Reports also said a laptop was taken. The Rs 1 lakh kept separately in Karthikeyan's pocket was not stolen.

Karthikeyan later approached Pondy Bazaar police and lodged a complaint. A case was registered and investigators began examining surveillance footage from roads, shops and buildings around the flyover.

CCTV footage helps police trace suspects

There were no useful cameras directly on the flyover, prompting officers to scan footage from more than 30 CCTV cameras along GN Chetty Road and nearby stretches. The footage helped police trace the suspects.

Police identified the arrested men as Anand Selvan, Bablu, Arunkumar alias Arnold and Mohamed Faisal. Arunkumar is a practising lawyer. Investigators recovered Rs 2.38 lakh from the stolen cash and also seized a two-wheeler allegedly used in the crime.

Police said Anand Selvan and Bablu have previous criminal cases registered against them. The four accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.

Police probe possible tip-off, hawala angle

Investigators are now trying to establish how the gang knew Karthikeyan would be carrying a large amount of cash. Police suspect the robbery may have been planned after the accused or their associates received information about his visit to Parrys Corner and the cash collection.

The source and purpose of the Rs 12 lakh are also under scrutiny. Police are examining whether the money had any connection to an illegal hawala transaction, though no such link has yet been established.

The investigation is also looking at whether anyone known to Karthikeyan or his uncle passed information about the cash movement to the gang.

Investigators are reconstructing Karthikeyan’s route to determine whether he was followed from Parrys Corner. Police are expected to compare the suspects’ movements, phone records and available CCTV footage as the probe into the robbery and possible tip-off continues.

A 52-year-old Florida man has been arrested after allegedly abusing a black Labrador named Rex during two separate incidents in Boynton Beach, with surveillance footage showing the dog being lifted and slammed onto the pavement. According to the Boynton Beach Police Department, officers first responded on September 9 after a witness reported seeing a man lift a black Labrador above his head and slam the animal to the ground near a bus stop outside a Taco Bell on South Federal Highway.

The dog, later identified as Rex, was wearing a red 'service dog' vest and weighed about 50 pounds (around 23 kgs).

Second alleged attack reported next day

The following morning, September 10, another witness reported a similar incident a few blocks away. Police said the woman saw a man allegedly choking the same black Labrador with its leash, lifting him off the ground and swinging him through the air. She also reported that the dog was struck with a water bottle.

The witness told officers that Rex appeared terrified, was shaking and repeatedly cowering.

An animal control officer investigated the area and obtained surveillance footage that reportedly captured both incidents.

CCTV allegedly captures abuse

In the first video, the suspect is allegedly seen lifting Rex completely off the ground before turning the dog upside down and slamming him onto the pavement.

The second video reportedly shows the man yanking Rex by his leash, striking him with a bottle and lifting him several feet into the air by his neck before dropping him.

Police later identified the suspect as 52-year-old Juan Latrez Poole after a witness picked him from a photo lineup.

Rex now looking for a home

Poole was arrested on September 14 and charged with felony animal cruelty. Police said he was later released after posting a $30,000 bond.

Rex was taken to Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control following the investigation. The Labrador is now looking for a permanent home.

The case remains based on allegations, and the charges against Poole have yet to be proven in court.

Police arrested Rahul Jha in Rajasthan's Reengus on Sunday, two days after he fled following the murder of four members of his family. The arrest of Jha has brought investigators closer to understanding the shocking murder of his wife and three daughters in Jaipur.

The murders took place on September 11 in Govind Vatika area under Kardhani police station. After the killings, Jha reportedly left the house and travelled towards Khatu Shyamji and Reengus, where police eventually tracked him down through CCTV footage.

According to police, Jha was particularly angry with his eldest daughter. During initial questioning, he allegedly told investigators that she often went out with acquaintances and had recently returned with an unknown young man after carrying a kanwar.

Police said Jha had repeatedly tried to stop her from doing so, but his anger continued to grow.

Investigators said Jha initially wanted to kill only his eldest daughter. He allegedly then began thinking about what would happen to his wife and two other daughters if he was arrested and sent to jail, according to a report by Aaj Tak.

According to the police account, he eventually decided to allegedly kill the entire family rather than leave them behind.

Police are still questioning him about the full motive and circumstances surrounding the murders. His claims during questioning will also form part of the investigation.

Police said Jha allegedly behaved normally after the killings. He reportedly took a bath, made tea for his elderly father and then left the house.

He boarded a bus and travelled to Khatu Shyamji. There, he allegedly approached a hotel operator and offered his ring as security in return for money. The operator refused.

Jha then travelled to Reengus railway station, where he reportedly spent the night. The following day, he was seen around the railway station and Bikaner bus stand.

While Jha was moving between Khatu Shyamji and Reengus, Jaipur Police were searching for him and checking CCTV footage.

Investigators questioned people known to him and examined footage from locations where he was believed to have travelled. Police teams from Jaipur West and the Commissionerate's CST eventually traced him based on his appearance.

He was arrested outside a hotel in Reengus.

Police are now questioning Jha about when he allegedly planned the murders, what happened inside the house and how he travelled after the killings. Investigators are also examining whether he took any steps to conceal his identity or avoid arrest.

Police have solved the robbery of around Rs 42 lakh from a Bank of India ATM near Akshay Patra temple in Jaipur's Ramnagariya area. Investigators alleged that a 22-year-old woman played a key role in planning the crime. The robbery took place on September 14, when civic election vote counting was underway across Rajasthan. Police said the crime was carefully planned and that the woman was positioned near the ATM to keep watch and alert the other accused when bank employees arrived with cash. Woman allegedly acted as lookout

The accused has been identified as Anshu Kumari Jatav, a resident of Nadbai in Bharatpur district. She was living in a rented room in Pratap Nagar, Jaipur.

According to DCP East Ranjita Sharma, police followed the CCTV trail to her rented accommodation. During questioning, she allegedly admitted her involvement in the robbery.

Police searched the room and recovered Rs 26.80 lakh in cash from a suitcase. The amount was reportedly part of the money taken during the robbery.

Investigators said Anshu had allegedly provided information about the ATM and the movement of cash to her boyfriend, Mastaram Meena.

Boyfriend allegedly brought in two others

Additional DCP East Paras Jain said Anshu and Mastaram allegedly planned the robbery together.

According to police, Anshu knew that bank employees regularly came to the ATM near Akshay Patra temple to collect or withdraw cash. She allegedly told Mastaram that the employees could be targeted.

Mastaram then reportedly asked Anshu to conduct surveillance of the location and brought two of his associates, Pushpendra and Sumit Jangam, into the plan.

Police said Pushpendra and Sumit allegedly carried out the robbery while Mastaram remained nearby in a car.

Anshu alerted gang when cash arrived

On the morning of September 14, Anshu allegedly reached the ATM before the bank employees arrived.

At around 10.30 am, when a woman and a man came to the ATM to collect cash, she reportedly called Mastaram and informed him that the money had arrived.

Mastaram, Pushpendra and Sumit then allegedly reached the area. While Mastaram stayed a short distance away in a car, Pushpendra and Sumit reportedly approached the employees, pointed a pistol and fled on a motorcycle with the cash.

After the robbery, the accused allegedly regrouped near Anshu’s rented accommodation, where the stolen money was divided.

Police said Rs 26.80 lakh was left with Anshu, while the remaining amount was taken away by the other accused.

Police say robbery was planned in advance

Investigators said the group had carried out reconnaissance for several days before selecting the date of the robbery.

According to police, the accused believed that more cash would be available after a three-day holiday. They therefore allegedly chose the day immediately after the break.

The use of a car was also part of the alleged plan to avoid police suspicion. While the robbery was carried out by two men on a motorcycle, Mastaram was waiting in a car nearby.

Police said this created confusion during the initial search. Officers were looking for motorcycle-borne suspects, while the main group allegedly escaped with the cash in the car.

Three accused still on the run

The District Special Team (DST), along with the Jaipur East district police, played a key role in tracing the suspects and recovering the cash.

Police said the case was solved within 48 hours. DST Sub-Inspector Banna Lal and constables Hemant and Rajesh were among those who played an important role in the investigation.

Anshu has been arrested and Rs 26.80 lakh recovered. Police are now searching for Mastaram Meena, Pushpendra and Sumit Jangam, who are reportedly from Karauli.

Investigators are continuing to examine CCTV footage and other evidence to establish the complete sequence of the robbery and trace the remaining stolen money.

Dispute over car loan verification

Tomar told police that his daughter, Priyanka Tomar, 30, who had been living away from the family home for around two-and-a-half years, arrived at the house with a female friend, according to a report by India Today.

The two reportedly spoke to Tomar about verification needed for a car loan that Priyanka had applied for. When he refused to carry out the verification, an argument broke out between father and daughter.

According to the complaint, the disagreement soon turned into verbal abuse and a physical confrontation. Priyanka allegedly assaulted her father during the argument.

Her sister-in-law intervened, after which she too was allegedly involved in a scuffle with Priyanka. The commotion drew the attention of neighbours, who reached the house. Priyanka and her friend then reportedly left the spot.

Woman allegedly returns with pistol

Police said the situation escalated further when Priyanka allegedly returned around 25 minutes later with her friend. She is accused of forcing her way into the house after bringing down the main gate. Once inside, she allegedly pulled out a pistol and pointed it at her father and sister-in-law.

She allegedly threatened to kill them before the two family members moved upstairs to protect themselves.

The woman and her friend subsequently left the house, police said. CCTV cameras installed near the house reportedly captured the incident.

The footage allegedly shows the woman holding a pistol while confronting her father and sister-in-law. Police are examining the recording along with other evidence as they investigate the allegations.

The footage is expected to help investigators establish the sequence of events and verify the claims made in the complaint.

Case registered, search underway

A case was registered at Sahibabad police station on September 9 against Priyanka Tomar and her friend on the basis of Hitesh Tomar's complaint.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Sahibabad) Amit Saxena said police teams were conducting searches to locate the accused.

Police are continuing to examine the CCTV footage and other available evidence. Further legal action will follow after the accused are traced and the evidence is assessed, officials said.

Gurugram Police arrested Kalyan Bainsla in the case involving biker Shivani Chauhan, allegedly hit by his Ciaz on Golf Course Road. Police said CCTV analysis led to Section 109 of the BNS, or attempt to murder, being added to the FIR.

Kalyan Bainsla, the driver accused of hitting woman biker Shivani Chauhan, who identifies herself as Sia, has been arrested in connection with the Gurugram Golf Course Road crash, police said on Tuesday.

Bainsla was arrested from Rajgarh in Rajasthan, according to police. The arrest came two days after his Maruti Ciaz allegedly rammed into Sia’s Aprilia RS 457, sending her skidding on the road.

The case has since taken a more serious turn after Gurugram Police added Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to attempt to murder, following an analysis of CCTV footage. The section carries a provision for imprisonment of up to 10 years.

The incident has triggered widespread discussion about road safety, road rage and the safety of women riders on the roads of Gurugram and Delhi.

Sia, whose full name is Shivani Chauhan, is a Delhi resident and a biker who uses the Instagram handle rebelwheels_sia_. She was riding her Aprilia RS 457 sports bike with a group of bikers on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road on Sunday when the incident took place.

According to Sia, the occupants of the car approached her while she was riding and allegedly started misbehaving with her. She further claimed that the people inside the car appeared to be intoxicated.

She said the trouble began when the Ciaz came up behind her at high speed near an underpass.

Speaking to ANI, Sia said the car first zoomed past her before slowing down and moving closer behind her. She said the occupants later pulled up alongside her, rolled down a window and gestured for her to stop.

Sia alleged that the car continued moving closer to her, leaving her frightened.

She said she believed the occupants were drunk and pointed out that the car had completely blacked-out windows.

According to her account, the car then chased her along the road and attempted to close the gap between the vehicle and her motorcycle.

Sia has strongly rejected Bainsla’s claim that the crash was simply an accident.

In her latest video, she questioned why the driver did not stop after the collision if he was genuinely distressed by what had happened.

She alleged that she was targeted because she was a woman riding a sports bike and claimed there was a deliberate attempt to force her to stop.

Sia said the car eventually swerved towards her motorcycle and hit it from the side. The impact sent her skidding on the road.

“The first thing I noticed was at the underpass: the car zoomed past me at high speed, then slowed down and drifted slightly closer behind me,” she said.

She added that the occupants later came alongside her and gestured for her to stop.

According to Sia, the car was travelling faster than her bike and repeatedly tried to get closer.

She said the CCTV footage clearly showed the car moving from one lane to another before hitting her motorcycle.

Sia also questioned why Bainsla left the scene instead of stopping to check whether she was alive or seriously injured.

She said she was fortunate to have been wearing protective riding gear.

Speaking about the incident, Sia said the experience had left her questioning the safety of women riding on Delhi and Gurugram roads.

“My first thought as a female rider was that I didn't feel safe at all on the Delhi and Gurugram roads that day,” she told ANI.

She said that although other bikers were around her, the incident made her think twice about riding alone.

Sia said the case was not only about her but also about other women and bikers who use NCR roads every day.

She has demanded strict punishment for the accused, saying such action could help prevent similar incidents in the future.

“I certainly won't stay silent about this,” she said, adding that what happened to her could happen to another woman or biker.

A second video of the incident has also emerged and is circulating on social media.

According to the account accompanying the video, the Ciaz driver first signalled Sia to stop.

When she did not stop, the car allegedly moved towards her sports bike and hit it from the side.

The footage has added to the questions surrounding the circumstances of the collision, particularly over whether the car moved towards the bike deliberately.

The rider who shared the video also said that the incident had made him feel that Gurugram was no longer safe for women.

The videos have become a key part of the public discussion surrounding the case. Police have also said that they analysed CCTV footage during their investigation before adding the attempt-to-murder section.

Bainsla has denied deliberately hitting Sia.

The accused, who describes himself as an international kabaddi player and is also a gym owner, admitted that the collision was his fault but maintained that it was an accident.

He claimed that around 20 to 22 motorcycles had sped past him and that he did not initially realise that a young woman was riding one of the bikes.

According to Bainsla, he was simply trying to ask the riders to slow down.

He said the collision happened near a U-turn after Sia allegedly turned without checking her mirrors.

Bainsla claimed he lost control of the car near the U-turn and hit the motorcycle.

“It was my fault; I admit it,” he said.

However, he denied that he had intentionally targeted or hit Sia.

One of the key questions in the case is why Bainsla drove away after the crash.

Sia has argued that fleeing the spot was evidence that the incident was more serious than an ordinary accident.

Bainsla, however, has offered a different explanation.

He said he was travelling with his family when the collision happened and feared that the group of bikers would attack him and his family if he stopped.

Bainsla said he was travelling with his sister and two cousins.

“I was travelling with my family. I didn't make any gestures at the young woman; I simply asked her to ride her bike slowly,” he said.

He claimed that stopping immediately could have resulted in the bikers assaulting him and his relatives.

Bainsla has since deactivated his Instagram account amid the controversy.

Gurugram Police had initially registered a case after taking suo motu cognisance of the incident. The FIR was registered at the Sector-56 police station.

ACP (Headquarters) Abhilaksh Joshi had said the initial case was registered under Section 281 of the BNS, relating to rash driving, and Section 125, relating to causing hurt.

Police later intensified the investigation and examined available CCTV footage. Following the analysis, Section 109 of the BNS was added to the case.

The section relates to attempt to murder and carries a provision for imprisonment of up to 10 years.

The police have described the move as a result of their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. In a statement, Gurugram Police said that after the video of a car hitting a female bike rider on Golf Course Road went viral, the force took suo motu cognisance and registered the case.

Police said a detailed examination of CCTV footage led to the addition of Section 109.

The police also issued a warning that playing with the law would not be tolerated and said strict action would be taken against the accused.

Before the arrest, police had said they had identified the accused and were working to locate him.

ACP Abhilaksh Joshi said three special teams had been formed to nab Bainsla.

The police subsequently arrested him in Rajasthan.

Police said he would be brought to Gurugram as the investigation continues.

The arrest marks a major development in the case, which had gained attention after videos of the collision spread across social media.

Sia has also expressed disappointment over what she described as the initial delay in taking action against the accused.

She said she had posted details of the vehicle online on Sunday night, including its registration number, the name of the registered owner and his father’s name.

According to Sia, Gurugram Police contacted her on Instagram the following afternoon after the video had appeared on news channels.

She questioned why the accused was still able to remain at large and speak to the media despite the vehicle being identified.

Sia also pointed to the presence of CCTV cameras along Golf Course Road.

She said she expected strict action because incidents in which drivers flee after collisions can put victims at further risk.

The police have since recorded her formal statement.

On Tuesday, Gurugram Sector-56 Station House Officer Manoj Kumar reached Sia’s residence in Delhi’s Kalkaji to record her official deposition.

The SHO confirmed that the FIR had been registered and that new sections had been added.

“We have come to record her statement. FIR has been registered, and new sections have also been added,” Manoj Kumar told reporters.

The recording of Sia’s statement is expected to form part of the continuing investigation into the crash and the allegations made by both sides.

Who is 'Sia', Shivani Chauhan?

Sia is a Delhi resident and has completed a course in fashion designing. She also contested the 2022 municipal elections from Kalkaji.

Her father, Roshan Chauhan, is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party.

Sia is known on social media for her identity as a woman biker and has used her platform to speak about the incident and her concerns over safety on the road.

Her Instagram handle is rebelwheels_sia_.

The case has brought considerable attention to the experiences of women bikers and the risks they can face while travelling on busy NCR roads.

The arrest of Kalyan Bainsla is likely to be followed by further questioning and investigation by Gurugram Police.

The police will examine CCTV footage, witness accounts and the videos circulating online as they piece together the events leading up to the collision.

The central points of dispute remain whether the car was deliberately moved towards Sia’s motorcycle and whether the collision was an intentional act or an accident, as Bainsla claims.

Sia has alleged that she was chased and deliberately rammed, while Bainsla has maintained that he lost control near a U-turn.

The addition of Section 109 of the BNS means the case is now being investigated with an attempt-to-murder allegation, rather than only as a case of rash driving and causing hurt.

However, the case is also about the wider question of how safe women are on the roads of Delhi and Gurugram.

Sia has said she will continue to pursue the matter and wants strict punishment when the allegations against Bainsla are proved.

Surendra Koli was living as Sadarama and working in a security firm before opening the tea shop days earlier. Two identity cards were found in his bag. Police are probing stress, a phone argument and other circumstances surrounding his death.

Surendra Koli, whose name remained associated with the most intriguing 2006 Nithari case for nearly two decades, was found dead inside a tea shop in Haridwar's Bhupatwala area on Friday morning. Police said the preliminary evidence indicated suicide, but the exact circumstances surrounding his death are still being investigated.

What initially appeared to be the death of a man known locally as Sadarama soon turned into a major police investigation when officers discovered an Aadhaar card identifying him as Surendra Koli.

According to Aaj Tak, Koli had been living in the Bhupatwala area and had started running a tea shop there only a few days before his death. Police reached the spot after receiving information about a man hanging inside the shop and took the body into custody for post-mortem examination.

Koli's body was found hanging inside the tea shop. Police informed his relatives and began investigating the circumstances of his death.

The most striking part of the case is the identity under which Koli had been living in Haridwar.

According to the information shared with police by shop owner Dharmendra Kaushik, the man had introduced himself as Sadarama. Local people also knew him by that name. Kaushik said he had no idea that the person renting the tea shop was actually Surendra Koli.

Koli had reportedly come into contact with Kaushik through a mutual acquaintance. He had approached him looking for work and later took the shop on rent. During their conversations, he told Kaushik that he was suffering from diabetes.

There was apparently nothing at the time to indicate to the people around him that he was the same Surendra Koli whose name had been linked to the Nithari case.

That changed only after police searched his belongings following his death.

Police reportedly found two identity documents among Koli's belongings.

One document carried the name Sadarama, son of Shankar, resident of Almora. The other was an Aadhaar card carrying the name Surendra Koli, son of Shankar, resident of Noida Sector 31.

The Aadhaar card became the key document that helped police establish his identity.

The discovery also explained why people in the neighbourhood had known him by a different name. According to the account given to police, Koli had not disclosed his real identity to the people with whom he had recently come into contact.

Police are now trying to establish how long he had been using the name Sadarama, why he chose to keep his identity private and whether anyone in Haridwar knew about his past.

Koli had reportedly been living in Haridwar for around three months before his death.

During this period, he worked for a security company in SIDCUL. Reports also say he had been staying in or around Roshanabad before starting the tea business.

The decision to start a tea shop appears to have been very recent. According to the details provided by the shop owner, the tea stall had been operating for only around three days when Koli was found dead.

Other reports have described the stall as being on Sapt Sarovar Road near the Lal Mata Temple in the Bhupatwala area. The exact duration of his tea-selling work has varied slightly across reports, with some saying a few days and others putting the period at around three to four days.

This means Koli had only just started a new phase of his life when he died.

He had apparently moved from security work to trying to run a small tea business, while keeping his earlier identity away from the people around him.

Koli was reportedly worried about his financial situation and had been visibly upset. The circumstances in the hours and days before his death are now a major focus of the investigation. Dharmendra Kaushik told police that Koli appeared deeply troubled before his death. One of the issues reportedly troubling him was money.

According to reports, there had been a child's birthday in his family around that time. Koli allegedly did not have enough money to buy a gift for the child.

Kaushik said he gave him money, around Rs 2,000, after learning about his financial difficulties.

Phone argument also under police scanner

Financial stress was reportedly not the only issue troubling Koli.

According to the information shared with police, he had also been disturbed after an argument with someone over the phone.

The identity of the person on the other end of the call and the subject of the argument have not been established publicly so far.

Police are therefore likely to examine his recent phone records and speak to people who were in contact with him before his death.

At present, it would be premature to say that financial problems or the phone argument was the definite reason for his death.

Police have not recovered any suicide note from the tea shop, and officials have said the actual reason remains unclear.

The sequence of events began when the tea shop failed to open on Friday morning. People were reportedly waiting outside the stall, but the shutter remained closed.

Kaushik noticed that the shutter appeared loose and lifted it. What he saw inside shocked him. The man he knew as Sadarama was hanging inside the shop.

Kaushik initially did not recognise him as Surendra Koli. He immediately informed the police.

According to Haridwar City Kotwali SHO Kundan Singh Rana, police received information at around 11.30 am about a person having died by suicide in the Kotwali area. Officers reached the location, examined the scene and began checking the man's identity. The initial search did not reveal an identity document, but an Aadhaar card was later found among his belongings.

The body was subsequently taken for post-mortem examination. Police also informed Koli's family members about his death.

Koli's identity immediately brought the Nithari case back into public focus. The Nithari killings came to light in Noida in 2006 after human remains were discovered near the house of businessman Moninder Singh Pandher. Koli, who worked as a domestic help for Pandher, was arrested and became one of the central figures in the investigation.

He faced cases connected to multiple alleged killings and was initially convicted in several matters. His legal battle continued for years.

However, his legal status had changed significantly before his death.

The Allahabad High Court acquitted Koli in 12 cases in 2023, and the Supreme Court subsequently dealt with the final remaining case. On November 11, 2025, a three-judge Supreme Court bench comprising then Chief Justice BR Gavai and Justices Surya Kant and Vikram Nath allowed Koli's curative petition and set aside his conviction in the last pending case. The court directed that he be released if he was not required in another case.

That legal history is important because Koli was not facing a conviction in the Nithari cases at the time of his death.

His acquittal brought to an end the last remaining conviction against him in the Nithari-related prosecutions.

From prison release to a new life in Haridwar

Koli's death comes less than a year after his release from prison following the Supreme Court's final acquittal.

After spending years in custody and remaining at the centre of one of India's most widely followed criminal cases, he had moved to Haridwar and apparently attempted to establish a new life.

There, he worked in security and later tried his hand at running a tea shop.

His death has raised questions not only about the circumstances of his final days but also about the life he was leading after his release.

Police investigating every possible angle

Police have not publicly established a single confirmed reason for the death.

The preliminary investigation points towards suicide. Police are examining statements from Kaushik and others who had interacted with Koli, checking the information surrounding his employment and recent business venture and looking into his financial difficulties and reported phone argument.

The couple were just around 100 metres from their home when two men riding a motorcycle allegedly tried to snatch Suchitra Jain's chain.

Robbers fall at speed breaker

Viral videos showed the motorcycle carrying the two suspects losing control while attempting the robbery and falling at a speed breaker. The couple also fell from their scooter and landed on the road.

The man sitting behind the motorcycle reportedly got up and moved towards Suchitra Jain, who had fallen nearby. He allegedly pointed an imitation pistol at her and broke the chain from her neck.

The woman then raised an alarm, prompting people from the surrounding area to rush towards the spot.

Seeing the crowd approach, the man carrying the imitation weapon tried to escape. However, local residents caught him and handed him over to the police.

His accomplice managed to flee while reportedly displaying the imitation pistol.

Police recover motorcycle and fake pistol

After receiving information about the incident, Constable Ramavatar and other personnel from Civil Lines police station reached the spot, reported Bhaskar.

Police took the suspect into custody and recovered the motorcycle allegedly used in the incident, along with the imitation pistol. Civil Lines police station in-charge Shambhu Singh told Bhaskar officers had received information about an attempted robbery involving a couple travelling on a scooter.

He said local residents had caught one suspect and handed him over to the police. The accused is being questioned, while efforts are underway to trace the second man who escaped. Police have not yet disclosed the identity of the arrested suspect.

The police said further action would be taken according to the rules once the complaint is received.

The incident has also prompted reactions online. Several users praised the local residents for catching one of the suspects, while others called for strict action against the accused.

Some comments, however, called for the suspects to be beaten, while others joked about the failed robbery and the role of the speed breaker.

Police reached the spot after the attack and shifted Haribabu’s body to the Government General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. An investigation is underway to identify the attacker and establish the motive behind the killing.

CCTV captures attack at busy junction

The incident unfolded in the middle of the road near the busy RR junction, according to reports.

Haribabu, 26, had reportedly gone to the area as usual when the unidentified attacker suddenly approached him. The CCTV footage shows the assailant attacking him with a weapon before leaving the spot.

The footage has since been widely circulated on social media.

Police are examining the CCTV recordings and other available evidence to trace the person responsible for the attack. The identity of the attacker has not yet been established.

Haribabu was out on bail in wife’s murder case

Haribabu had been facing a murder case over the death of his wife, Vaishnavi, earlier this year.

Haribabu was subsequently arrested in connection with the case but was out on bail at the time of Thursday’s attack.

Haribabu had been living with his mother

After being released on bail, Haribabu had reportedly been living with his mother and earning a living by selling corn. On Thursday, he had gone to Rajarajendra crossroads, where he stopped at a roadside establishment to drink water.

The attack happened suddenly, with the unidentified assailant reportedly getting out of a car and walking towards him before launching the assault.

The attacker then fled in a waiting car after Haribabu collapsed at the spot.

Police begin probe into Nizamabad killing

Police have started investigating the circumstances surrounding Haribabu’s death.

His body was sent to the Government General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Investigators are expected to examine CCTV footage from the junction and nearby areas to establish the attacker’s route before and after the killing.

A 44-year-old woman and her newborn baby died during childbirth under a tarpaulin shade in Tamil Nadu’s Kancheepuram district earlier this week, according to a report by The New Indian Express. Her family has alleged that she was denied timely medical care while they were being made to work in conditions resembling bonded labour. The woman, identified as Thenmozhi, was reportedly living and working with her family as a woodcutter. An FIR has been registered based on a complaint filed by her husband, 45-year-old Anand.

Family allegedly working to repay Rs 20,000

According to Anand’s police complaint, he, Thenmozhi, their 16-year-old son, their 19-year-old daughter and their son-in-law had been working for a man identified as Arumugam for around six months.

Anand alleged that the family had taken an advance of Rs 20,000 and had been working to repay the amount. He further claimed that they were kept in bonded labour-like conditions.

The complaint also alleges that Arumugam assaulted Anand when he asked for money to buy rice for his pregnant wife.

Anand reportedly told police that he had asked Arumugam several weeks earlier for permission to take Thenmozhi to a hospital for a medical check-up. According to the complaint, Arumugam said they could leave only after finishing their work.

On another occasion, when Anand reportedly complained that his wife was suffering from stomach pain, Arumugam allegedly told him to give her a painkiller instead.

Woman went into labour while family was at work

Anand told police that he and the others left for work at around 7 am on Tuesday, while Thenmozhi stayed behind because she was in the final stage of pregnancy.

When Anand returned in the afternoon, he found his wife complaining of stomach pain. He said he applied castor oil to her stomach and returned to work at around 2 pm.

Around 30 minutes later, he returned and found Thenmozhi in severe labour pain. She reportedly lost consciousness soon afterwards and stopped breathing.

Anand said he repeatedly tried to contact Arumugam. According to his complaint, Arumugam eventually responded and called an ambulance.

However, although the ambulance reached the location within a few minutes, Thenmozhi had already died. Sources cited by The New Indian Express said she had partially delivered the baby, which also died.

Police begin probe into deaths

Anand alleged that Arumugam later gave him Rs 2,000 and arranged for the bodies to be transported. The incident came to light after Anand sought help from villagers living in a neighbouring area, following which the police were informed.

Thenmozhi’s body was taken to a government hospital for a postmortem on the same evening. Police said the procedure could not be carried out until Wednesday because her relatives refused to give consent until Arumugam was arrested.

Police have begun an investigation under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) into the circumstances surrounding the death.

The allegations of bonded labour have been referred to the sub-collector. A senior police official reportedly said that the relevant provisions would be considered after labour department officials establish the facts.

The investigation is expected to determine the circumstances that led to Thenmozhi’s death and examine the allegations made by her husband.

The search was stopped during the night because of heavy rain and poor visibility. It resumed on Tuesday morning after police received information about a woman’s body near the Ganga. Officers reached the riverbank and identified her as Sushma. During the search that followed, Chhotu was found hanging from a tree in a nearby forest.
