The man then asks whether he would receive a receipt for the payment so he could claim a rebate while filing his income tax return. The officer responds that there would be little benefit from claiming a rebate for Rs 500 or Rs 1,000.

The exchange appears to end abruptly when the officer seems to realise he is being recorded. He leaves without being shown accepting any money. The man then takes out the phone he had apparently concealed while recording, and the video ends.

The clip has triggered strong reactions online. Several users claimed they had also been asked to pay money during passport verification, with some mentioning amounts from Rs 500 to Rs 2,000. Others said they completed verification without paying anything. Some users also questioned whether hidden-camera recording was appropriate.

Woman killed after asking man to marry her

According to police, Manasa and Vinod were childhood friends and had been in a relationship. Manasa had previously been married and divorced twice.

Police said the two met at Vinod's rented room in Karimnagar on August 17. During their meeting, Manasa allegedly insisted that they should get married.

Vinod then allegedly contacted Manasa's father, Rajesham, and told him about their conversation.

Kazipet ACP P Prashanth Reddy said Rajesham was allegedly upset and believed his daughter's actions were damaging the family's reputation among relatives. Police allege that he asked Vinod to pick a quarrel with Manasa and kill her.

Vinod allegedly strangled Manasa

Following the alleged conversation, Vinod strangled Manasa to death, police said.

He allegedly placed her body inside the boot of a car and drove to Elkathurthy village. The vehicle was then parked in an isolated area while he allegedly waited for an opportunity to dispose of the body.

The car belonged to T Sadanandam, a resident of Elkathurthy. During the investigation, police traced the vehicle's use to Vinod through his brother, Bhaskar Reddy, who had rented it.

Foul smell from car leads to discovery

On August 20, local residents reportedly noticed a foul smell coming from the parked vehicle and alerted police.

Elkathurthy Inspector Puli Ramesh and his team reached the spot and found Manasa's decomposed body inside the car boot. Her body was shifted to MGM Hospital in Warangal for a post-mortem examination.

Police said Vinod initially claimed that Manasa had suffered a seizure and died in his rented room, and that he panicked and moved her body.

However, during questioning, he allegedly disclosed that he had strangled her and revealed the alleged involvement of her father.

Police continue investigation

Vinod was produced before a court on Monday. Police are continuing their investigation into the killing and examining the allegations concerning Manasa's father.

The police allegations have not yet been tested in court, and further action will depend on the evidence gathered during the investigation.

Family alleges assault before death

According to the complaint lodged by Rama’s family, Amarjit Singh returned home on leave on the night of August 13. They allege that he assaulted Rama inside the house, causing fatal injuries.

At around 4 am on August 14, the family received a phone call claiming that Rama had fallen from the roof and had been taken to hospital. However, when they reached the hospital, they found that she had already died.

Her relatives told police they noticed multiple injury marks on her body and believed she had been beaten before her death. They alleged that the story of the roof fall was fabricated to divert suspicion.

Police register murder case

Police have registered a case against Amarjit Singh, his uncle Kuldeep Kuki and his aunt Sonia. Amarjit Singh has been arrested, while the other two accused are absconding.

Station House Officer Harprem Singh told NDTV the investigation is continuing and police are working to trace the remaining accused.

Family alleges dispute over alleged affair

According to the police complaint filed by the victim’s mother, Angoori Devi, Krishna Kumar and Preeti had been married for around 16 years. The couple had three children, including two sons and an eight-year-old daughter, Mansi.

Angoori Devi alleged that Krishna Kumar had suspected his wife of having an extramarital relationship and often objected to her spending long hours talking on the phone. This, she claimed, frequently led to arguments and fights between the couple.

Relatives notice marks on victim’s neck

Krishna Kumar, who worked in farming and animal husbandry, was at home with his wife and young daughter on the night of the incident.

His mother, who was sleeping nearby, said she heard a disturbance at around 11 pm. When she reached the house, she found Krishna Kumar lying unconscious. Preeti allegedly told her that the couple had been arguing.

A local doctor was called, who declared Krishna Kumar dead. The next morning, relatives arrived at the house and noticed marks around his neck, raising suspicions about the circumstances of his death.

The family then informed the police. Officers reached the spot and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.

Post-mortem report leads to arrest

Police said the post-mortem report indicated that Krishna Kumar had died due to strangulation. Following the report, Preeti was arrested in connection with the case.

The victim’s nephew, Pradeep Rajput, alleged that Preeti had given Krishna Kumar money to buy alcohol before the incident and later used his intoxicated condition to kill him, the Amar Ujala report added. He further claimed that she allegedly strangled him with a towel.

The family has also alleged that Preeti wanted to sell Krishna Kumar’s property and leave with another man. They claimed that some property and buffaloes had already been sold. These claims remain allegations made by the victim’s relatives.

Husband makes serious allegations

The man told police that he married the woman on June 24 in Bhander, Madhya Pradesh, following Hindu customs. He alleged that after the marriage, his wife began giving him sleeping tablets mixed in tea or milk so that she could speak to another man without his knowledge.

According to his complaint, he first suspected something was wrong when he allegedly found his wife with the man on August 19. He claimed that he again caught the two together at the alleged lover’s house on August 23.

The husband alleged that when he confronted them, his wife held his hands while the other man allegedly assaulted him and tried to strangle him.

Neighbours reportedly came to his rescue

The man said he raised an alarm during the alleged assault. Hearing the commotion, neighbours reportedly reached the spot and intervened, helping him get away.

He later went to the SSP’s office with his parents and sought protection, claiming that he feared for his life. He also requested police action over the alleged assault and the other allegations made in his complaint.

Police investigating complaint

The case is now being investigated by police. The Circle Officer of Moth said police had reached the location after receiving information and had also received a written complaint.

Police team arrived at house around 3 am

According to Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Devendra Kumar, a team from Malihabad police station in Lucknow had travelled to Shahjahanpur with a court warrant in connection with a theft case registered in 2025.

Local Nigohi police personnel accompanied the Lucknow team during the raid at Gupta’s house at around 3 am on Wednesday.

Police said the team entered the house but did not find Gupta there. At around 7 am, his body was found at a neighbouring building that was under construction.

The circumstances surrounding how Gupta reached the neighbouring property and suffered fatal injuries are now at the centre of the investigation.

Wife accuses police of throwing him from roof

Gupta’s wife, Shanti Devi, lodged a complaint naming four policemen from Malihabad police station and two personnel from Nigohi police station.

In her complaint, she alleged that the policemen took her husband to the roof and threw him from there.

She also accused some of the policemen of previously extorting money from Gupta and claimed that they had developed hostility towards him after she complained about them to senior officials.

Shanti Devi further alleged that jewellery kept in their house was taken away during the incident.

Based on her complaint, an FIR for murder was registered against all six policemen at Nigohi police station on Wednesday evening.

Police cite 30 kg silver theft angle

Malihabad Station House Officer Surendra Bhati said a theft case had been registered in his police station area last year.

According to him, people arrested in that case allegedly told investigators that they had sold around 30 kg of silver to Gupta in Shahjahanpur.

Police subsequently obtained a court warrant against Gupta on May 8, prompting the raid at his residence.

However, Gupta’s death during the police operation has triggered anger among family members and local traders, who are demanding strict action against those responsible.

Post-mortem report awaited

Gupta’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, which is expected to provide crucial evidence about the cause and circumstances of his death.

For now, six policemen face a murder case, while investigators must determine what happened during the early-morning raid that ended with a 65-year-old trader being found dead at a neighbouring construction site.

The allegations made by Gupta's family remain subject to investigation, and the final sequence of events will depend on the evidence gathered by the authorities.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Saraiya, Abhijit Kaur, said preliminary investigation indicated that Golu had been involved in an altercation with another villager earlier that day. He was allegedly threatened with death during the confrontation.

Attack caught on CCTV

According to the police complaint, Pawar was walking along the Sarola-Veer road with Pal's wife and her minor daughter when the accused allegedly arrived at the spot.

Police said Pal approached Pawar from behind near the house of Mahesh Dhadve and allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon.

Pawar suffered multiple injuries to his neck and throat. He died at the scene, according to the complaint. The CCTV footage is now an important part of the investigation as police try to establish exactly how the confrontation unfolded.

Cousin files police complaint

Following the incident, Pawar's cousin, Amit Jagnnath Pawar, approached Rajgad Police Station and lodged a complaint.

Police have registered a case against Deepak Manohar Pal under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4(27) of the Arms Act.

The accused has not yet been arrested and is currently absconding.

Police teams have been conducting raids at possible locations in an effort to trace him.

Police probe suspected affair angle

Investigators are also looking into the reason behind Pal's alleged suspicion that his wife was in a relationship with Pawar.

Police are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to reconstruct the events leading up to the alleged murder.

Along with Yash Dhanuk, the FIR also named Jitendra Somani, Rohit Prasad, and Pabali Dutta. The police are investigating how they stole the cash and jewellery from the house. During the investigation, Yash revealed that he had planned the theft with his friends, Jitendra Somani and Rohit Prasad. Yash confessed that he committed the robbery as per his friends' plan.

His wife had reportedly been living separately with their two children, and the couple had recently divorced. After the separation, Mahesh often visited his parents, who lived nearby, for meals, police said.

On the night of the incident, he allegedly reached their home after drinking alcohol and asked his parents to prepare mutton curry.

However, the family had stopped cooking non-vegetarian food because of Shraavan.

Mahesh reportedly continued to insist on his demand, leading to an argument with his father.

Father allegedly attacked son

According to the police, the dispute quickly turned violent. Mahesh's father allegedly assaulted him repeatedly, hitting him on the head and face. The injuries proved fatal, police said.

Investigators have also found that arguments between the father and son had reportedly taken place earlier, particularly over Mahesh allegedly arriving home drunk and demanding food.

However, police are continuing to investigate the exact sequence of events that led to the fatal assault. A case was registered at the Warje-Malwadi police station following a complaint lodged by Mahesh's brother.

Mother also arrested in the case

Mahesh's mother has also been arrested in connection with the incident. According to the police, she allegedly did not immediately inform others about Mahesh's death and is accused of attempting to help her husband after the incident.

Police have also alleged that she was involved in destroying or concealing evidence connected to the case. Based on these allegations, she was named as an accused and taken into custody along with Mahesh's father.

Police said Mahesh had been married for around a decade and had two children.

Police said his alleged drinking habit had also led to repeated disagreements within the family.

Both Bhagwat Suryabhan Gaikwad and Parvati Bhagwat Gaikwad have been arrested, and the Warje-Malwadi police are continuing their investigation.

Wife cries for help as man allegedly attacks

According to police, Rinku had reached the bridge on a motorcycle with his wife and their daughter. An argument broke out between the couple during the incident.

The night before Mahek’s body was found

Mahek, who was from Assam, lived with her friend in room number 13 of a rented building in Barola. Raman lived on the same floor in room number 23. Police said the two knew each other and were friends.

According to Mahek’s roommate, the two were seen together during the night of August 7 and 8. The woman allegedly saw Mahek and Raman drinking on Raman’s balcony.

They reportedly had a bottle of liquor, a bottle of water and chips with them and spent some time talking. Later, both went inside Raman’s room.

The next morning, Mahek’s roommate noticed that she was missing from their room. She called her phone, but it was switched off.

The roommate then went towards Raman’s room and found its door locked. Raman’s phone was also unreachable, raising suspicion.

The building owner, Sarthak Bansal, was informed about the situation. A caretaker subsequently broke open the lock.

Body found inside locked room

When the door was opened, people reportedly noticed a strong smell coming from inside. Mahek’s body was found lying on the floor. Police said it was covered in blood.

The police were immediately informed and reached the building to begin their investigation.

Two major questions confronted investigators: how had Mahek ended up inside Raman’s room, and where had Raman gone?

Police questioned Mahek’s roommate and other people living in the building. Their statements reportedly strengthened suspicion around Raman.

A murder case was registered at Sector 49 police station in Noida on August 10, following which police began searching for him.

By then, however, Raman had allegedly left Noida.

From Noida to his hometown

Investigators traced Raman’s movements and learnt that he had travelled towards Katihar, his hometown in Bihar.

However, his arrival in Katihar brought another unexpected development.

Bihar has prohibition on alcohol. During a police patrol, personnel from Katihar Nagar Police allegedly spotted Raman near Phulwari Kali Mandir Pokhar.

Police said five bottles of liquor were recovered from him. He was arrested and a case was registered against him under the state’s liquor prohibition laws.

At that stage, Katihar Police were dealing with a liquor case, while Noida Police were searching for the same man in connection with a murder investigation.

The two cases came together when Noida Police learnt that Raman was already in custody in Katihar.

Noida Police reach Katihar

A Noida Police team subsequently travelled to Katihar to take the investigation forward.

However, Raman cannot simply be taken from Bihar to Uttar Pradesh because he is already in custody in another case. The Noida team must complete the necessary court and judicial procedures before obtaining his custody.

Police are therefore pursuing the required process to seek his remand for questioning in connection with the Noida murder case.

Katihar DSP Vishal Anand said Raman had been arrested in the liquor case and that Noida Police had reached Katihar in connection with the murder investigation. He also said Katihar Police were cooperating with the Noida team.

What happened inside the room?

Several questions remain unanswered.

Investigators will need to establish exactly what happened after Mahek entered Raman’s room that night. They will also have to determine how she died, whether she was attacked, what may have led to her death and whether anyone else was involved.

Police are also expected to examine Raman’s movements after the incident and the route he took from Noida to Katihar.

After allegedly fleeing from Gomti Nagar, Bajpai reportedly went to his residence in Husadiya.

Police said he then allegedly shot his sister, Vibha Bajpai, inside the house before turning the weapon on himself. Both were found dead at the second location.

The case began after K Nookaraju, an Assistant Engineer with the Panchayat Raj Department, his wife Meena and their daughter Kovvuri Sowjanya died after allegedly jumping into the Godavari River near Rajamahendravaram on the intervening night of August 16 and 17.

Sowjanya's 10-year-old son survived after being rescued from the river by local fishermen. Police later recovered notes allegedly written by Nookaraju and Sowjanya. Allegations of harassment and blackmail

According to the complaint and the purported note, Sowjanya had come to know Khan through rifle-shooting training. She allegedly accused him of threatening, blackmailing and harassing her and claimed that he exercised control over parts of her personal and family affairs.

The note also allegedly accused Khan of pressuring her to read Islamic literature and convert to Islam. Police have registered a separate case concerning the allegations relating to religious conversion and insulting religious beliefs.

The first FIR, registered after the family deaths, also contains allegations that Khan had threatened the family, assaulted Sowjanya and demanded money and gold. These claims are based on statements recorded by police and remain subject to investigation.

Earlier death of Sowjanya's husband under probe

Another major part of the investigation concerns Sowjanya's husband, Kovvuri Jagadeesh Reddy, who died on July 2.

A complaint by his father, Bhaskara Reddy, was followed by a separate investigation after a purported letter allegedly claimed that Khan had poisoned Jagadeesh Reddy.

Police are examining medical records and other evidence to establish the circumstances of his death and whether it has any connection with the later deaths of Sowjanya and her parents.

Police examine digital and other evidence

Investigators have formed a special team and are examining mobile phones, digital evidence, CCTV footage, call records, medical documents and financial transactions as they reconstruct the events leading up to the deaths.

The police have registered cases involving alleged murder, abetment of suicide, extortion, criminal intimidation and offences relating to religious beliefs. Khan has not been convicted of any of these allegations.

The arrest marks a significant development in a case that has raised questions over the family's deaths, the earlier death of Jagadeesh Reddy and the allegations made against Khan. Police say the investigation will determine which of the allegations can be supported by independent evidence.

Family told Anil had met with an accident

Anil’s sister, Sunita, said the family initially received a call informing them that he had met with an accident.

She rushed to the location, only to discover that her brother had allegedly been murdered.

“I just received a call saying he had met with an accident and I should come here,” Sunita said, describing the shock of reaching the spot and learning that Anil had been killed with a knife.

She said Anil had simply gone to work and was performing his official duty when he was attacked. “He had simply gone to work; he was on duty. Someone came up from behind and killed him,” she said.

Sunita appealed for justice, stressing that her brother was only 27 and worked for the MCD.

The family has demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and strict legal action.

CCTV footage being examined

Police are now examining CCTV footage from the area, which reportedly shows the accused stabbing Anil. Officers are also questioning people who may have witnessed the incident and collecting other evidence.

How did the Rs 1.20-crore claim begin?

According to Bhopal police, the alleged conspiracy began with an Instagram reel. Investigators say Zoheb, a second-year BBA student who allegedly presented himself to others as a doctor, watched the video and later showed it to the group.

Police allege that he told the others that the private parts of a teenage boy could fetch around Rs 1.20 crore. His alleged doctor-like appearance, including a white apron and stethoscope, may have made the claim appear more credible to the others, the NDTV report added.

However, investigators say they have found no medical basis for the claim and no evidence so far of a legitimate buyer or organised market offering such money for human testicles. Police also consulted a doctor during the investigation but found nothing to support the alleged claim.

Who was the victim?

Rehan was a 17-year-old who helped support his family by selling pens and keychains around Iqbal Maidan and Moti Masjid.

Police said his father had died and his mother worked as a cleaner at a public toilet. Some of the accused allegedly knew Rehan and had befriended him.

Investigators believe the group wanted to target a boy above the age of 15 because of the instructions they allegedly received after watching the social media content.

How was Rehan allegedly lured?

Police say the plan was put into action on August 6.

Two minors allegedly approached Rehan at Iqbal Maidan and told him they needed help in a fight involving some boys near Khatlapura. They reportedly offered him Rs 100 to accompany them.

Rehan allegedly agreed, unaware that the promised fight was being used as a pretext to take him somewhere isolated.

The group reportedly travelled through Ginnauri and Kilol Park towards Dhobighat near Chhota Talab. Police allege that Zoheb remained in contact with the group by phone and guided them as the plan unfolded.

What happened at Dhobighat?

Once the group reached the secluded area, police allege that Rehan was attacked and killed.

Investigators say sharp-edged weapons were used in the assault. Police allege that, after his death, the group removed his testicles and placed them in a plastic bag.

Police further allege that the accused then contacted Zoheb and tried to follow instructions connected with the supposed sale.

But the promised buyer never appeared.

The alleged hunt for a buyer

The investigation suggests that the group may have believed they had a valuable body part but had not actually established who would buy it.

Police say the body part was allegedly kept for several days while the accused tried to find a buyer. No deal was completed.

Investigators allege that, after failing to find anyone willing to purchase it, the accused eventually threw it into the water.

Police are now examining Zoheb's social media activity and trying to establish where the claim originated, including whether the Instagram reel was simply misinformation or whether someone deliberately promoted the false story.

How did police identify Rehan?

The murder initially came to light without the victim's identity being known.

On August 10, police recovered a decomposed body from the Dhobighat area near Chhota Talab. The body had injuries caused by sharp-edged weapons, and the post-mortem examination indicated homicide.

Police circulated photographs, contacted local residents and carried out door-to-door enquiries to identify the victim. When the identity could not initially be established, the body was buried.

Five days later, on August 15, a woman approached police while searching for her missing son. She identified the body as Rehan, with a distinctive tattoo on his hand helping confirm his identity.

Why the case raises a bigger social media question

The most disturbing element of the investigation is not simply the extraordinary amount allegedly attached to the body part, but the role police say an online video played in shaping the suspects' actions.

There is no evidence that human testicles have a legitimate market value of Rs 1.20 crore. The investigation, as reported by police, has so far found no buyer and no medical basis for the claim.

A 30-year-old pregnant woman has accused four people, including three brothers and their uncle, of repeatedly raping her, assaulting her and blackmailing her with an alleged private video in Gujarat's Banaskantha district. The woman has also alleged that the accused pressured her to convert to their religion and attempted to arrange her marriage through a local religious cleric.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. No arrests had been made at the time of the latest update. The case was registered at Dhanera police station on August 20 against Akhtar Rajabshah Fakir, his brothers Arif Rajabshah Fakir and Iliyas Rajabshah Fakir, and their uncle Salimshah Jumashah Fakir.

Police Inspector SD Chaudhary said further investigation had begun and that the allegations made by the woman were being examined, according to a report by Aaj Tak.

Complaint comes amid allegations of repeated abuse

According to the woman's complaint, she was around five months pregnant when she allegedly faced repeated sexual and physical abuse.

The woman claimed that Akhtar was known to her estranged husband. She alleged that he initially contacted her by saying that his grandfather could offer a form of traditional or spiritual treatment for her health-related concerns.

Over time, the two allegedly came into contact more frequently.

The woman told police that this was not the first complaint involving some of the accused. She had earlier filed a sexual harassment case against Akhtar and some of his relatives, the Aaj Tak report added.

In the earlier case, registered at Palanpur East police station in April, Akhtar and two others were arrested, according to the complaint.

However, the woman alleged that Arif and Iliyas, who were absconding at the time, later threatened to kill her and kidnap her daughters.

She claimed that these alleged threats placed her under immense pressure.

Woman says she agreed to settlement under pressure

According to the FIR, the woman said she was forced by circumstances to agree to a compromise in the earlier case.

She alleged that she agreed to file an affidavit before the Gujarat High Court after being threatened with harm to herself and her daughters.

Following the development in the case, Akhtar and other accused who had been arrested were released from jail on June 16.

After their release, the woman went to Pengiya village in Dhanera taluka and began living with Akhtar, according to the FIR. She reportedly believed that moving there would help end the dispute and allow them to live peacefully.

However, the woman has alleged that the abuse continued even after she moved there.

Alleged private video used for blackmail

One of the most serious allegations in the latest complaint concerns an alleged private video.

The woman claimed that a private video of her was recorded without her knowledge. She alleged that the accused later used the video to threaten and blackmail her.

According to her complaint, she was repeatedly threatened that the video would be made public and circulated on social media if she refused to follow their demands.

She also alleged that Akhtar pressured her to speak to other men over the phone. When she refused, she claimed she was threatened again.

The woman has alleged that the private video was used as a tool to keep her under pressure and prevent her from speaking out.

Four accused named in repeated rape allegations

According to the woman, the accused threatened to bring her daughters to them and force them to change their religion as well.

Based on the allegations, police have also invoked provisions of the Gujarat Freedom of Religion Act.

The alleged pressure to convert is among the key aspects that investigators will now examine alongside the rape, assault and blackmail allegations.

Woman says she was thrown out of the house

The woman alleged that the situation reached a breaking point on July 21. She claimed that all four accused assaulted her and forced her out of the house.

According to the complaint, the accused also refused to take responsibility for her or the child she was carrying.

Left without immediate support, the woman allegedly approached a local shopkeeper for help.

She later contacted the women's helpline on 181.

With the help of her mother, she was subsequently taken to Lakhni, following which she approached the police and narrated the sequence of events that she said had unfolded over several months.

Her complaint led to the registration of the latest FIR on August 20.

Police begin investigation, no arrests yet

Banaskantha police have said they are taking the allegations seriously and are investigating all aspects of the complaint.

Inspector SD Chaudhary said the investigation had begun, but no accused had been arrested so far.

Investigators are expected to examine the woman's allegations regarding the earlier criminal case, the alleged threats made to her and her daughters, and the circumstances in which she agreed to a compromise.

Police will also look into the claim that a private video was recorded without her knowledge and allegedly used to blackmail her.
