Robbers allegedly snatched cash and mobile phone

The victim told police that two men arrived on a motorcycle and suddenly blocked his way. The accused allegedly removed the key from his motorcycle to stop him from escaping. He further claimed that the robbers took away his mobile phone and ₹5,000 cash from his pocket before fleeing from the spot, according to a report by India Today.

After the robbery, the victim reportedly started walking towards his aunt’s house, which was located nearby.

Victim recognised accused and fought back

According to the victim, the same two men again came near him while he was walking on the road. This time, he recognised the accused and decided to confront them.

The man allegedly picked up a brick lying nearby and threw it from a distance towards the motorcycle. The brick reportedly hit the accused, causing one of them to lose balance and fall off the bike.

Soon after, a physical fight broke out between the victim and the two accused in the middle of the road.

Accused allegedly threatened victim with sharp weapon

During the scuffle, the accused allegedly pulled out a datar, a sharp-edged weapon commonly used in Punjab, and tried to threaten the victim.

The victim again threw a brick at the accused and reportedly injured them. However, despite being hurt, the robbers managed to escape from the spot while threatening the victim with the weapon.

The entire incident was recorded on nearby CCTV cameras. The footage later surfaced online and quickly spread across social media platforms.

Police begin investigation

Police officials said a case has been registered against the two accused based on the victim’s complaint. Officers have started an investigation and are trying to identify and arrest the robbers.

Murder allegedly planned in advance

Police officials said the murder was not a sudden act done in anger. According to investigators, it was a planned conspiracy.

The accused allegedly included Aanchal, her alleged lover Ankit, her sister Shikha and Shikha’s boyfriend Ajay.

Investigators said Shikha had arrived at the house four days before the incident, and police suspect the murder plan was prepared during that period.

According to police, all four accused were present inside the house on the day of the crime.

Officials believe Pawan would not have been overpowered for such a long time unless several people were involved together.

Victim allegedly tortured for nearly three hours

However, police officers who reached the scene felt something was suspicious from the beginning. According to officials, Pawan’s body had several injury marks that did not match the story of a simple fall after consuming poison.

The post-mortem report also reportedly showed signs of assault and other serious injuries.

After this, police began questioning family members and nearby residents.

Statements kept changing during questioning

Police said the accused persons gave inconsistent statements during questioning. Investigators also checked mobile call records, chats and technical evidence, which further increased suspicion.

According to police, when the accused were questioned strictly, the entire alleged conspiracy came out.

Senior Superintendent of Police Satpal said police found that Pawan was allegedly murdered by his wife Aanchal, her alleged lover Ankit, sister Shikha and Shikha’s boyfriend Ajay.

All four accused have now been arrested and presented before a court.

Police said further legal action in the matter is continuing.

Family says victim feared for his life

Pawan’s family told police that he had earlier expressed fear about his safety.

According to relatives, around three months ago he had called his sister and said the situation at home was not good and he feared a major conspiracy against him.

At that time, the family reportedly treated the matter as a normal domestic dispute and did not take it very seriously.

Despite the crash happening in broad daylight on one of Navi Mumbai’s most monitored roads, police have still not been able to identify or arrest the biker because CCTV cameras reportedly failed to clearly capture the motorcycle’s registration number.

Biker Allegedly Jumped Red Signal

Speaking from her hospital bed, Sandhya Jain said she was riding towards the NMMC head office in Belapur to meet a civic official when the accident happened around 4.39 pm. According to Jain, CCTV footage from cameras installed at the junction showed a biker wearing a maroon shirt speeding through the red signal before crashing directly into her scooty while her signal was green.

The impact threw her onto the road and left her unconscious.

Jain said the biker did not stop to help her after the accident. Instead, he allegedly picked up his motorcycle and quietly moved away from the spot before escaping.

Journalist Suffers Multiple Injuries

Doctors treating Jain said she suffered fractures in both hands, a broken nose, facial trauma and several other injuries.

The accident has left her bedridden for more than a week, while family members continue to demand stricter action and better surveillance systems in the city.

Jain is known locally for editing two magazines focused on women’s issues and social awareness.

Family Questions CCTV System

Her husband, Sandeep Kumar Jain, said it was shocking that the biker had still not been identified despite the road having several surveillance cameras, the TOI report added.

He said an FIR had been registered at the NRI police station against an unknown biker for rash and negligent driving, but investigators had failed to track the accused because the number plate was unclear in the CCTV footage.

The family questioned how such an important road stretch could have cameras that fail to record basic details needed in criminal investigations.

Police Say Number Plate Not Visible

Investigating officer Kiran Swar from NRI police station confirmed that officers had checked CCTV footage from the time of the crash. However, he said the motorcycle number plate could not be properly seen in the recordings, making identification difficult.

Police added that further investigation is continuing and efforts are being made to identify the biker through other clues available from nearby cameras.

Questions Raised Over Camera Quality

The incident has also sparked criticism about the quality and maintenance of CCTV cameras in Navi Mumbai.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Kailas Shinde said the police are the main users of the city’s CCTV network for traffic enforcement and crime monitoring. He added that if there were issues with camera quality, they should have been reported earlier.

He also confirmed that a private agency currently handles CCTV maintenance.

Social activist Madhu Shankar questioned the usefulness of such a large surveillance system if cameras cannot capture vehicle numbers even during daytime accidents.

Another social worker, Rajesh Singh of Ganga Sagar Foundation, said many junctions on Palm Beach Road already have cameras installed and suggested replacing weak systems with high-definition cameras and AI-supported technology for better identification.

Police Suspect Planned Murder

Ajmer Superintendent of Police Harshvardhan Agrawala said the case is being treated as a murder. According to the initial investigation, Ram Singh’s first wife, along with their minor son and daughter, allegedly planned the killings.

Police believe the murders were linked to an ongoing family dispute. Officials suspect the victims were attacked with a sharp weapon before their bodies were placed inside the vehicle. The car was then allegedly set on fire to destroy evidence.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started using an advanced digital investigation method called the “tunnel view” technique in the mysterious death case of former actor-model Twisha Sharma.

Twisha, 33, was found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12. Her death triggered serious allegations from her family, who accused her husband and in-laws of harassment, domestic violence and murder.

Now, the CBI is trying to recreate Twisha’s final movements and the exact sequence of events before her death through a minute-by-minute digital reconstruction.

According to sources, quoted by India Today, the “tunnel view” method allows investigators to combine multiple forms of digital and forensic evidence into one detailed timeline.

The agency is studying CCTV footage, mobile phone records, Wi-Fi logs, internet activity, call detail records and smart-device data linked to the house. Investigators are also mapping every room of the residence to create a virtual model of the crime scene.

Officials believe this process can help identify who moved through different parts of the house, what activities took place before the incident, and whether there were any suspicious gaps or attempts to alter evidence.

The technique is often used to digitally recreate a person’s final known movements and interactions.

CBI officers are reportedly matching surveillance footage with mobile activity and internet usage to build a visual simulation of Twisha’s final hours.

Investigators are hoping the digital reconstruction will reveal possible inconsistencies in witness statements or signs of coercion and conspiracy.

Sources said the agency is also checking whether there was any manipulation of the crime scene after Twisha’s death.

The digital findings are expected to play a major role in future questioning and forensic analysis.

Twisha Sharma, originally from Noida, married Samarth Singh from Bhopal in December last year.

After her death, her parents accused her husband and his family of physically and mentally harassing her. They also alleged that her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, who is a former district court judge, tried to influence the investigation.

Twisha’s family initially refused to perform her last rites and demanded a second post-mortem examination at AIIMS Delhi. She was finally cremated on May 24 after the second autopsy was completed.

Meanwhile, her in-laws denied all allegations. They claimed Twisha had become emotionally disturbed after learning about her pregnancy in April and allegedly did not want to continue with it.

Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh had gone missing after the incident and later surrendered in Jabalpur on May 22. He was arrested soon after.

In the latest development, the CBI also arrested Giribala Singh on May 28 after questioning her at her residence in Bhopal.

Officials said the agency plans to confront both mother and son with each other’s statements to check for contradictions.

Her arrest came shortly after the Madhya Pradesh High Court cancelled the anticipatory bail earlier granted to her by a sessions court.

The CBI formally took over the case earlier this week and re-registered the FIR that had initially been filed by the Madhya Pradesh Police.

With arrests already made and digital evidence now under examination, investigators believe the case has entered a critical phase.

The agency is expected to intensify questioning in the coming days while relying heavily on forensic reconstruction to determine exactly what happened on the night Twisha Sharma died.

Police in Madhya Pradesh have busted an alleged marriage racket after arresting a couple accused of cheating dozens of grooms and their families by promising them brides through a fake mass wedding ceremony in Dewas district. The arrested accused have been identified as Mukesh Bairagi and Sunita Das Bairagi. Families promised brides from orphanage

Police said the accused approached families from different districts and convinced them that they could arrange marriages at a mass wedding ceremony being organised at a religious site in Dewas.

Sub-inspector Rahul Parmar said the accused allegedly downloaded photographs of women from social media platforms and showed them to families as prospective brides.

The victims were reportedly asked to pay between Rs 10,000 and Rs 25,000 for the marriage arrangements.

Believing the promises, several families agreed and prepared for the wedding ceremony.

Scam exposed after brides never arrived

The alleged fraud came to light on Sunday when the grooms and their relatives reached the designated wedding venue in Dewas. According to police, the families waited at the location until around 10 pm for the brides and organisers to arrive. However, nobody turned up.

After realising that they had been cheated, the victims approached the local police station and lodged complaints.

Eyewitnesses and victims claimed that nearly 42 grooms had fallen victim to the alleged scam.

However, officials said only around 10 families had formally filed complaints so far.

Police officials said many families may still be hesitant to come forward because of fear of embarrassment and social stigma linked to failed marriage arrangements.

Officials believe the actual number of victims could be higher as more people may have been contacted by the accused.

The case has sparked concern in the area, especially because the accused allegedly used fake identities and social media photographs to gain the trust of families looking for marriage proposals.

Police are now searching for the two absconding accused and are trying to find out whether the group was involved in similar fraud cases elsewhere.

Investigation underway

The Dewas police said further investigation into the marriage fraud racket is ongoing.

How Did the Cash Recovery Begin?

The case began after local residents noticed suspicious activity late at night near a TMC office in Baduria. According to reports, vans were allegedly seen moving goods under darkness, which raised doubts among locals.

Soon after receiving information, police raided the TMC office and a nearby farmhouse allegedly linked to Bhattacharya. During the searches, officers reportedly recovered around 4,000 government tarpaulin sheets believed to be meant for relief distribution.

Police also found partially burnt documents outside the office, increasing suspicion around possible destruction of evidence.

The investigation took a dramatic turn after police received information that large amounts of cash had been hidden in agricultural land.

During questioning, Bhattacharya allegedly admitted that money had been buried in a jute field behind his residence. A major search operation was then launched with drone cameras and sniffer dogs.

After hours of digging, police recovered trolley bags and sacks filled with bundles of Rs 500 notes. Some gold items were also reportedly recovered. Viral videos showed police officers carrying sacks filled with cash from the field while crowds gathered nearby.

Officials later brought in counting machines as the recovered amount continued rising throughout the night.

Police reached the spot soon after receiving the information and opened the drum in the presence of officials. Inside, they found the body of a young woman.

Body Found With Injury Marks

According to police officials, the woman appeared to be between 20 and 22 years old. Initial examination showed minor injury marks on her face, while traces of blood were also noticed on one of her hands.

The drum was blue in colour and tightly closed with a red lid. Police officers said the condition in which the body was found suggested that it had been dumped there deliberately.

Soon after the recovery, forensic experts were called to the scene to collect evidence from the area. The body was later shifted to the mortuary of Government Rajindra Hospital for further examination and identification.

Tattoos Help Police Identify Victim

During the investigation, police found two tattoos on the woman’s arms. One hand had “Neha” written in English, while the other had a heart-shaped tattoo mark.

Speaking about the case, Patiala police officer Gurpreet Singh said the police had received a call in the morning regarding a body inside a drum near the DCW flyover.

He said that after examining the tattoos and other details, police were able to identify the victim as Neha, a woman in her early twenties.

According to police, Neha was the daughter of Sant Lal. Her family originally belongs to Jaunpur district in Uttar Pradesh but is currently living in the Punjabi Bagh area of Patiala.

Family Had Already Filed Missing Complaint

Police said Neha had been missing for the past few days. Her family had earlier filed a missing person complaint with the police.

After the body was identified, officials contacted the family and informed them about the development. Legal formalities are now being completed with the help of the victim’s relatives.

Investigators are now trying to find out how Neha died and who was responsible for dumping her body inside the drum.

CCTV Footage Under Scanner

Police teams have started checking CCTV camera footage from nearby roads and areas around the flyover to trace the movement of the drum and identify those involved.

Officials believe the drum may have been transported to the spot using a vehicle during the early hours when the area was less crowded.

Girl Was Attacked After Leaving Home

According to investigators, the teenage girl had stepped out of her house in Vedanatham village on the evening of March 10 to answer nature’s call when she was attacked.

Police said Dharmamuneeswaran intercepted the girl, raped her and later murdered her before fleeing the area.

The case initially appeared difficult to solve as there were no direct witnesses or immediate clues linking anyone to the crime.

Windmill CCTV Became Major Breakthrough

Investigators later found a key lead through CCTV footage from a camera installed near a windmill farm close to the crime scene. Police analysed nearly 1,000 hours of footage collected from different locations between Vedanatham village and Tuticorin town. The footage showed the accused entering the village on a motorcycle around 2.30 pm on March 10 and leaving the next morning around 6.30 am.

Officials identified him through a checked shirt visible in the footage and tracked his movements further towards Tuticorin.

Police also found that the accused had switched off his mobile phone after entering the village. The phone became active again in Tuticorin shortly after he was seen leaving in the CCTV footage, helping police establish a timeline of events.

DNA Evidence Strengthened the Case

Forensic evidence played a major role in securing the conviction. According to police, blood samples found on the shirt worn by the accused matched the victim’s blood group. Semen samples collected during the post-mortem examination were also matched to the accused through DNA testing, the TOI report added.

Inspector General of Police Vijayendra S Bidari said the investigation was solved mainly through scientific evidence.

He described the DNA match as the “clinching proof” that helped police crack what was initially considered a blind case.

Stolen Bike and Previous Criminal History

Investigators also tracked the motorcycle used by the accused during the crime. Police said Dharmamuneeswaran had stolen the bike from Ramanathapuram district and later changed its number plate to avoid being caught.

Officials claimed the accused had visited the village several times earlier and had studied entry and exit routes before carrying out the crime.

Police records showed that the accused had earlier received a life sentence in a similar case, though the punishment had later been suspended by a local court.

The chargesheet in the case was filed within 21 days, while the trial began on May 5. A total of 17 witnesses were examined during the proceedings.

Police have identified the accused as Jyoti Balmik, her husband Jeetu Pal, Jyoti’s brother and another man. Based on Aarti Prajapati’s complaint, Dehat police have registered an FIR against four accused persons and started an investigation.

Meanwhile, Aarti’s father Hargyan Prajapati has made serious allegations against Aarti’s partner Nandu Rathore. He claimed that Nandu was behind the attack and had planned it with the help of neighbours.

According to Hargyan Prajapati, Aarti and Nandu had been living separately for some time due to ongoing disputes between them. He alleged that Nandu had been threatening Aarti for the past 15 days, because of which she had stopped stepping out of the house.

He further claimed that Nandu allegedly gave alcohol to the attackers and encouraged them to assault Aarti.

'Aarti, a second partner'

Family members said Aarti was Nandu Rathore’s second partner. Nandu was reportedly already married before he came into a relationship with Aarti a few years ago. Later, the two began living together in a separate house as husband and wife and also have a daughter together.

However, relations between them reportedly worsened in recent months and they separated. Both sides had earlier filed complaints against each other at the Superintendent of Police office. Police records also show that cross FIRs had already been registered between the two parties in the past.

Dehat police station in-charge Vikas Yadav said police are examining the CCTV footage and statements of the victim, the Dainik Bhaskar report added. He added that more names could be included in the FIR if further evidence emerges during the investigation.

The incident gained attention after the CCTV video circulated widely on social media, raising fresh concerns about women’s safety in residential areas.

Incident happened near playschool

According to police, the incident took place on May 14 at around 1.30 pm. The woman had gone to pick up her young child from a nearby playschool in Alkapur Township.

Officials said the woman was returning home while carrying the child when the accused allegedly followed her from behind. Police said Nagaraju allegedly lifted the woman’s dress and immediately ran away from the spot. The woman reportedly raised an alarm and turned around to chase him, but he managed to escape.

CCTV video went viral online

The incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed near Pranati Easha Apartment on Road No. 4 in Alkapuri Township in the Manikonda area.

The footage reportedly shows the woman walking with the child when a young man approaches her from behind, allegedly misbehaves with her and quickly flees.

After the video appeared online, many social media users expressed shock and anger. Several people demanded quick police action and stricter safety measures in residential localities.

The video also drew the attention of police authorities, who began examining the CCTV footage as part of the investigation.

Police formed teams to trace accused

Based on the woman’s complaint filed on May 19, Narsingi police registered a case under Sections 78 and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police then formed special teams to identify and trace the accused.

After several days of investigation, officers arrested Nagaraju on Saturday. Officials said the accused does not have any previous criminal record and was not earlier involved in similar offences.

Many residents expressed concern after the incident and said such behaviour creates fear among women living in the area.

Police said further investigation into the case is continuing.

Anu was married to Gautam Meena, an executive engineer in the Public Works Department, in 2015. According to her family, the first few months of the marriage were peaceful, but problems allegedly started later, according to a report by NDTV.

Family alleges repeated physical abuse

Family members claimed that Gautam frequently consumed alcohol and allegedly assaulted Anu after drinking. They said he would later apologise and convince her to return home whenever she went back to her parents’ house.

According to relatives, Anu tried several times to save the marriage for the sake of her family and children. Her parents also reportedly hoped that the situation would improve with time.

Her brother, Neeraj Meena, said the family repeatedly asked Anu to stay with them permanently, but she often returned after Gautam apologised for his behaviour.

He also alleged that Gautam showed little regret even after the incident and reportedly told others that spending a few days in jail would not matter to him.

Disturbing videos emerge after death

After Anu’s death, several videos reportedly recorded by her surfaced online and became part of the investigation.

One video allegedly shows Gautam hitting Anu with a shoe, pushing her to the ground and spitting on her while their young son is present nearby.

Another video recorded inside a car reportedly captures Gautam verbally abusing Anu and her family members.

These videos have spread widely on social media and sparked outrage among users, many of whom demanded strict action in the case.

Children describe violence at home

The couple’s 10-year-old son, Mahir, reportedly told family members and investigators that his father often beat his mother. He recalled one incident when Gautam returned home, played music loudly on the television, broke the TV and then assaulted Anu.

Mahir also shared that his mother sometimes suffered from low blood pressure and had asked him to give her salt water whenever she felt weak.

According to the child, while he tried to help his mother during one such moment, his father allegedly ignored the situation and instead blamed Anu.

The couple’s eight-year-old daughter, Samayra, also reportedly spoke about regular arguments between her parents. She said they fought not only at home but also during family gatherings and trips.

According to reports, Anu allegedly died by suicide on April 7 after ongoing stress and abuse. Before taking the extreme step, she reportedly made a video call to her husband and carried out the act during the call.

Neighbours rushed to help after learning about the incident and informed her family members. People nearby also tried to save her by performing CPR, but she could not survive.

Her mother, Maya, said Anu had often spoken about problems in her marriage. Maya also shared that she missed a phone call from her daughter that day and now feels she may have been able to stop the tragedy if she had answered.

Police officials said statements from Anu’s family members have been recorded and an investigation is in progress. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage, videos from the victim’s phone and other digital evidence linked to the case.

The woman was admitted to hospital by her husband after sustaining injuries but was declared dead by doctors.

Family Alleges Harassment Over Dowry

Her family accused the husband of repeated harassment and demands for jewellery and money. The victim’s brother alleged she was beaten and pressured to bring more dowry so her husband could buy an e‑rickshaw.

According to police and local residents, the four accused, identified as Rajeev, Vipin, Kapil Sharma and Vikas from Khekra area of Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh, arrived at Haridwar during the busy pilgrimage season. Misbehaviour in Main Market

Several women also reportedly faced harassment as the youths allegedly pushed people deliberately and passed offensive remarks. Some residents recorded videos of the incident on their mobile phones. The clips soon spread widely on social media, leading to public outrage.

People in the market said the situation could have become dangerous because thousands of pilgrims and families were present in the area at the time.

Chaos at Har Ki Pauri Ghat

After causing disturbance in the market area, the four men reportedly reached Har Ki Pauri ghat. Witnesses said they forcibly pushed aside devotees and jumped into the Ganga river despite being intoxicated.

Locals alleged the men continued behaving in an obscene manner while bathing in the river. Police were informed immediately after videos of the incident began circulating online.

During questioning, police confirmed that all four men were residents of Baghpat district and were drunk at the time of the incident.

The incident has once again raised concerns about unruly behaviour by tourists at religious destinations during peak travel season.

According to Aaj Tak report, the local priest Ujjwal Pandit strongly criticised the behaviour of the accused and said such acts hurt the religious feelings of devotees visiting Haridwar.

He claimed he had personally followed the group and kept informing police about their movements. According to him, timely police action prevented a possible fight or bigger disturbance.

He also responded to people calling for a boycott of Uttarakhand or Haridwar-Rishikesh over isolated incidents. He said local residents are not against visitors from any state, but strict action would always be taken against those who disrespect religious places or create trouble in the city.
