Bihar's history is ancient, but the stories of its youth's struggles are fresh and inspiring. Every morning in Patna's narrow lanes, lakhs of dreams awaken with the hope of landing a government job. Futures are built here, sometimes under the dim light of a single bulb in a small room, and sometimes while running in the fields before dawn. Khan Sir is the man helping turn these dreams into reality by making education a service, not a business.

Amidst the hefty fees of big coaching institutes, Khan Sir's mission to help the poorest children in the country become officers for just a few rupees is nothing short of a revolution. Today, I'm going to tell you the stories of three such individuals who were forged in the fire of hardship. These are stories that prove success is not reserved for the privileged.

Story 1: The student who carried bricks and iron for his coaching, and is now in the police

Who can understand struggle better than a student from Khan Global Studies who did manual labour at his own coaching centre to pay for his education? When this student came to study with Khan Sir in Patna, he didn't even have money for a hostel or a lodge. To make ends meet, this young man never gave up and started helping with the construction work at the coaching centre.

Khan Sir himself gets emotional while sharing that when a new hall for the coaching was being built, this student broke down a 15-inch thick wall while also keeping up with his studies. From unloading iron pipes to keeping track of wood and plywood, he did every job that could keep him close to his goal. He refused to let poverty be his weakness, worked day and night, and today, he has been selected for the Bihar Police. This story shows that someone with nothing to lose will work to any extent to win.

Story 2: Mantu Kumar, a poor farmer's son who passed BPSC to become an SDO

Mantu Kumar, from a small village in Khagaria district, is an inspiration for every young person who gives up, blaming a lack of resources. Born into a poor farmer's family, Mantu cleared the BPSC exam through sheer hard work and Khan Sir's guidance, securing the post of an SDO.

Mantu's elder brother also played a huge role in his success, taking on all responsibilities just like a father. Recalling his study days, Mantu says he used to study for hours on end. When he got tired of studying in his room, he would continue on the terrace or sometimes sitting on the stairs. Khan Sir's affordable and simple online and offline classes made education accessible for rural students like Mantu, helping him become an officer and make his family proud.

Story 3: 'Chhotu', a labourer's son who studied in a hut with a torn map

Our third story is about Chhotu from Darsingsarai, who is living proof that if you have strong determination, you can achieve success even from a humble hut. Chhotu's father works as a labourer and farmer in the village, and their home is a mud hut with a roof that leaks during the rains.

In this very hut, studying under the dim light of a single bulb with a torn map, Chhotu scored 92 percent in his 12th-grade exams, securing the second position in the entire district. Due to financial problems, Chhotu couldn't go to Patna to prepare for exams. However, with the help of Khan Sir's online classes and his lessons on the atlas, Chhotu also cleared the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) entrance exam with excellent marks. His next goal is to crack the UPSC exam under Khan Sir's guidance and bring the light of education to his backward region.

Khan Sir, the man who truly simplified education

The real reason for Khan Sir's popularity is his unique teaching style that has simplified education. His biggest achievement is not the millions of downloads on his app, but the fact that he has connected everyone from battery-rickshaw drivers to the children of labourers living in huts with education.

When a teacher rejects offers worth crores to light up the lives of poor children, the success of young men like Mantu and Chhotu becomes more than just news; it becomes a new chapter in history. These stories are a ray of hope for the millions of students who fight their poverty every morning to dream of a better tomorrow.

Also Read: Can K.

Charu Pandey, a 23-year-old from Chhattisgarh, has inspired government job aspirants after clearing 19 exams without coaching. A Mathematics graduate, she relied on self-study and AI tools. She will receive a gold medal from President Droupadi Murmu.

At just 23 years of age, Charu Pandey has become an inspiration for thousands of government job aspirants across India. Hailing from Tilda-Neora in Chhattisgarh, she has achieved the remarkable feat of clearing 19 competitive examinations without joining any coaching institute.

Today, she works as an Assistant Audit Officer in the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India in Visakhapatnam, a position she considers her dream job. Her achievement has earned widespread praise, and she is now set to receive a gold medal from Droupadi Murmu during this year's Independence Day celebrations.

Interestingly, Charu never set out with a target of clearing 19 examinations. Her aim was much simpler.

Speaking about her journey, she said she only wanted to secure a government job. As a result, she appeared for almost every major recruitment examination that matched her qualifications.

She took exams conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), banking recruitment agencies, railways and several state-level organisations. Over time, the list of successful results kept growing.

#WATCH | Raipur, Chhattisgarh: Charu Pandey, starting her journey at 23 with the dream of a government job, has inspired lakhs of young aspirants by clearing 19 competitive exams, says, "... My family is very happy with this achievement of mine. I am receiving an award for… pic.twitter.com/Zo21tNMxPs

— ANI MP/CG/Rajasthan (@ANI_MP_CG_RJ) June 12, 2026

Her achievements include SSC CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD and CPO examinations, along with SBI PO, SBI Clerk, IBPS PO, IBPS Clerk and several railway and state recruitment tests.

Self-Study Over Coaching

One of the most striking aspects of Charu's story is that she prepared entirely through self-study.

A Mathematics graduate, she began preparing for competitive examinations while still in college. Instead of enrolling in expensive coaching classes, she depended on books, online learning platforms and free educational content available on the internet.

According to Charu, she used YouTube lectures extensively whenever she wanted to understand a topic better. She also used artificial intelligence tools to clear doubts and explain difficult concepts.

She believes that access to online learning resources has made quality preparation possible even for students who cannot afford coaching.

To improve her concentration, Charu once spent six months living in a guest house in Raipur.

Away from daily distractions, she dedicated herself fully to preparation. During this period, she followed a disciplined routine and focused heavily on her studies.

She also taught school students alongside her preparation. According to her, teaching helped strengthen her own understanding of subjects and improved her confidence.

Charu revealed that there were days when she studied for extremely long hours. However, she believes success did not come from simply spending time with books.

Quality Matters More Than Quantity

For Charu, the key to success was understanding concepts properly rather than rushing to complete the entire syllabus.

— Arun Sao (@ArunSao3) June 12, 2026

She says students should focus on mastering whatever they study instead of worrying about covering every topic. In her view, strong preparation in selected areas is often more useful than superficial knowledge of many subjects.

Time management also played a major role in her success. She carefully planned her schedule and made sure every study session had a clear purpose.

Charu's message to students preparing for competitive examinations is straightforward: do not give up after failure.

She believes every unsuccessful attempt teaches something valuable and helps candidates improve their performance in future examinations.

She also encourages students to stay positive and openly discuss stress and challenges with their families. According to her, family support plays a crucial role during long preparation periods.

An Inspiration for Young India

Charu's parents admitted they rarely saw her sitting with books for long hours but always trusted her dedication and discipline.

From a small town in Chhattisgarh to a prestigious central government position, Charu Pandey's journey highlights the power of consistency, self-belief and smart preparation.

At a time when many students feel coaching is the only path to success, her story offers a different lesson: determination, proper planning and the right use of technology can sometimes make all the difference.

(With inputs from agencies)

Following recent layoffs at Meta affecting thousands, the article highlights the precarious nature of job security during a recession. It provides five practical strategies to safeguard your career, including developing in-demand skills, maintaining an updated resume, and building a financial safety net.

Fresh layoffs are underway at Meta as the tech giant moves to reduce its global headcount by about 10%. The downsizing is expected to affect close to 8,000 workers, according to Bloomberg. Employees in Singapore are among the earliest to be notified of the decision. According to an internal letter seen by Reuters, Meta wants to redeploy some 7,000 workers into AI-related roles as part of its broader reorganisation plans. Chief People Officer Janelle Gale wrote the document, which also detailed intentions to eliminate other managerial positions.

The most recent events serve as a warning that during a recession, no job is entirely safe. Although layoffs are frequently out of an employee's control, there are a number of actions they may take to increase job security and maintain their financial and professional readiness. Here are five practical ways to safeguard yourself against job cuts.

Develop Skills That Businesses Can't Ignore

During times of restructuring, workers who continuously improve their abilities are frequently more valued. Professionals that can manage several tasks or contribute to high-priority initiatives are typically retained by companies. Pay attention to fields that are still in high demand, such as automation and artificial intelligence, data analytics, cybersecurity, cloud computing, product management, digital marketing, and performance enhancement.

Keep Your LinkedIn Profile and CV Updated

Many workers don't update their resumes until they lose their jobs. Opportunities may be delayed at a crucial moment. Always keep your resume up to date with the most recent accomplishments, measurable outcomes, certifications, initiatives, and leadership roles. Make sure your LinkedIn profile accurately represents your present experience and abilities at the same time. Candidates with high internet presence are frequently contacted

Be Ready for Interviews

Being prepared for interviews is a wise move, even if you are not actively seeking employment. Particularly amid layoffs, the employment market may change swiftly. Opportunities are frequently secured more quickly by candidates who are professionally and mentally prepared than those who are just starting out.

Explore Other Source of Income

Other revenue streams are now more accessible than ever because to the growth of freelancing, consultancy, and creative platforms. While a backup source of income might not be able to quickly replace a pay cheque, it might ease financial strain in uncertain times.

Create a Safety Net for Your Finances

Without sufficient reserves, layoffs become much more distressing. Generally speaking, financial advisors advise keeping an emergency fund large enough to cover at least six to twelve months' worth of costs. In industries where recruiting slows during recessions, this becomes particularly crucial. A financial safety net gives you the freedom to look for the ideal opportunity rather than cramming yourself into the first position that comes up.

Oracle is facing backlash after reports claimed job offers to IIT and NIT students were withdrawn. The controversy has reignited debate over campus placement policies, tech layoffs and student career uncertainty.

Oracle Offer Withdrawal Row: A huge controversy is brewing over claims that tech giant Oracle has withdrawn job offers made to students from India's top engineering colleges, including IITs and NITs. This has put a big question mark on the entire campus placement system, the 'one student, one offer' policy, and the hiring strategies of big tech companies. Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs), which are a dream for thousands of students, are now becoming a source of uncertainty. At a time when the tech sector is already dealing with layoffs and slow hiring, this news about Oracle is raising serious concerns about students' careers and their mental well-being.

Oracle accused of pulling back offers, social media posts fuel controversy

The whole thing blew up when an NIT student, Aditya Kumar Barawal, shared a post on LinkedIn. He claimed that Oracle had withdrawn his PPO, citing internal changes and a reduction in hiring capacity. In his post, he wrote that while the setback is tough, he is focused on learning and moving forward. Around the same time, several posts on Reddit went viral, claiming that nearly 50 students from different IITs were affected. Names of institutes like IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Kharagpur came up in these discussions. However, the company has not released any official statement on this matter yet.

Also read: Tech Layoffs in US: AI Is Reshaping the Industry as Big Companies Cut Thousands of Jobs

Why is campus placement uncertainty growing amid tech layoffs?

Over the past few months, the global tech industry has seen major cost-cutting measures. Many companies are on a hiring freeze or are reducing their workforce due to AI automation, falling global demand, and company restructuring. Oracle itself was recently in the news for large-scale layoffs. In such an environment, companies are being extra cautious about their future hiring commitments. Experts believe that companies are now shifting from the bulk hiring model on campuses to a more need-based selection process. This is directly impacting fresh graduates.

Is the 'one student, one offer' policy now a risk for students?

In this whole debate, the 'one student, one offer' rule, which is followed in IITs and many other top institutes, is getting the most attention. According to this policy, once a student accepts an offer from a company, they are not allowed to sit for placements with other companies. In normal times, this system was designed to ensure a balanced distribution of jobs. But in the current situation, this very rule has become a crisis for many students. Several students who had their Oracle offers withdrawn were left with no backup options, as they had already given up other opportunities during the placement season.

Mental pressure on students rises, pain spills onto social media

Placement season is considered one of the most stressful periods for engineering students. After months of coding preparation, internships, interviews, and pressure to maintain a good CGPA, a final job offer is seen as career security. The news of offers being withdrawn has increased anxiety and disappointment among students. In the viral Reddit posts, many users wrote that students had built their entire placement strategy based on a single offer. Now, with their degrees completed and offers suddenly cancelled, many may have to look for jobs with lower salaries or search for off-campus opportunities.

Does the campus placement system need a change?

This issue is no longer being seen as limited to just one company; it's raising questions about the entire campus recruitment system. Experts believe that institutes now need to bring more flexibility into their placement policies, especially in cases where companies postpone joining dates or withdraw offers. Many experts are suggesting that students should be given a backup placement window. They also recommend that companies should be held accountable for withdrawing offers, colleges should organize emergency recruitment drives, and mental health support systems should be strengthened.

Also read: Want To Work At Google?

After days of frustration and uncertainty, CBSE students can finally apply for re-evaluation of their board exam results. The re-evaluation portal, which had remained inaccessible despite earlier announcements, became operational early this morning. Students can submit their applications until June 6.

The delay had caused anxiety among thousands of students and parents who were waiting to request verification and re-evaluation of answer sheets. In a statement, CBSE confirmed that technical issues affecting the website have now been resolved and the portal is functioning normally. The board has also released a video guide explaining the application process and advised students to use a desktop or laptop for a smoother experience.

Government officials reportedly brought in additional technical experts on Wednesday to address the glitches and restore the portal.

Tender Process Under Scanner

While students received relief over the portal issue, CBSE is facing a fresh controversy regarding the awarding of its On-Screen Marking (OSM) contract.

Questions have been raised over the selection of a company called COEMPT for the project. According to reports, documents suggest that certain tender conditions may have been modified before the contract was awarded. The allegations have triggered concerns about transparency in the procurement process.

The Union Education Ministry has already sought a detailed report from CBSE regarding the matter. Officials are examining whether any procedural changes influenced the final decision.

PM Modi Seeks Detailed Investigation

The controversy has now reached the highest levels of government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly directed the Education Ministry to conduct a thorough review of the tender process.

Reports claim that a clause included in the original tender issued in August, which allowed for the blacklisting of companies failing to meet requirements, was later removed before the contract was awarded in November. Authorities are now reviewing all documents and identifying officials involved in the process.

Based on CBSE's report, the government will decide whether a central agency investigation is required. For now, both the functioning of the re-evaluation portal and the tender controversy remain under close scrutiny.

Arohi Deshpande JEE Advanced 2026: The results for JEE Advanced 2026, one of India's toughest engineering entrance exams, are out, and so are the inspiring stories of students who cracked it. While Shubham Kumar from Gaya, Bihar, secured All India Rank (AIR) 1, the top-performing female candidate is Arohi Deshpande. Arohi not only topped the women's category in the JEE Advanced 2026 exam but has also become an inspiration for thousands of students with her hard work and disciplined preparation. What's more, she had already proven her talent by securing a fantastic rank in the JEE Main exam.

So, who is Arohi Deshpande, the female category topper in JEE Advanced 2026? What were her marks, and what was her preparation strategy?

How much did JEE Advanced 2026 female topper Arohi Deshpande score?

Arohi Deshpande scored an impressive 280 out of 360 marks in JEE Advanced 2026. With this performance, she secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 77 and became the number one female candidate. She appeared for the exam from the Delhi zone. Her performance in JEE Main 2026 was also brilliant, where she had secured AIR 99. Her consistent top performance in both major exams has made her one of the most talked-about students this year.

ALSO READ: JEE Advanced 2026: Subham Kumar tops with AIR 1; Delhi zone dominates

Where is Arohi Deshpande from?

Arohi Deshpande is originally from Pune in Maharashtra. However, to chase her IIT dream, she spent the last four years preparing in Kota, Rajasthan. Kota is widely known as India's biggest hub for engineering and medical entrance exam coaching. She took coaching from the Allen Institute and remained focused on her goal. All that hard work, living away from home, has now paid off with this spectacular result.

How did Arohi Deshpande study? She shared her success formula

After the JEE Advanced 2026 results, Arohi shared her preparation strategy. She said that instead of just relying on classroom studies, she made time management her biggest strength. She would use holidays and Sundays to complete her syllabus and work on her weaker topics. If any chapter was left unfinished, she would set aside extra time to complete it. Arohi believes that regular revision is the real key to success in any competitive exam, which is why she constantly updated her notes.

The 'Color Coding Technique' made revision easy

An interesting part of Arohi's preparation was her note-making technique. She explained that she used a 'Color Coding Technique' while preparing notes, especially for subjects like Chemistry. By marking important formulas, concepts, and facts in different colours, she could recall key points quickly during revision. This also made it much easier to review the syllabus in the final days before the exam.

If you miss a class, don't panic, just recover

Arohi also gave an important piece of advice to other students. She said that during preparation, you might sometimes miss a class due to health or other reasons. In such a situation, instead of panicking or getting stressed, you should focus on systematically covering the missed portion. She believes that in competitive exams, success comes to those who maintain consistency even in difficult situations.

In 2025, the pass percentage was 88.39%. The drop of 3.19 percentage points has become a major topic of discussion among students, parents, school principals, and education experts.

CBSE data shows that 17,80,365 students registered for the Class 12 examinations this year. Out of these, 17,68,968 students appeared for the exams. A total of 15,07,109 students passed.

In comparison, in 2025, 17,04,367 students registered, 16,92,794 appeared, and 14,96,307 passed. The pass percentage in 2025 was 88.39%, while in 2026 it is 85.20%.

CBSE class 12 results: Over 88 pc girls, 82 pc boys pass board exams. pic.twitter.com/Hs9SDdIdOF

— Press Trust of India (@PTI_News) May 13, 2026

The board has confirmed the figures, and the difference between the two years is clearly recorded.

Girls have once again performed better than boys. The pass percentage for girls is 88.86%, while boys recorded 82.13%.

Transgender candidates achieved a 100% pass rate for the second year in a row. This result has been highlighted as an important achievement.

Among regions, Trivandrum has secured the highest pass percentage at 95.62%. Chennai follows with 93.84%. Bengaluru ranks third with 93.19% and Vijaywada came 4th with 92.77%.

#CBSE Class XII results declared. Four of the top five performing regions are from South India. This shows that schools in the southern part of the country continue to lead in board exam performance.

Education experts have linked the fall in pass percentage to several reasons. The decline is not due to one single factor. Instead, it appears to be a combination of changes in evaluation methods, question paper difficulty, and learning gaps.

This year marked the first large-scale use of On-Screen Marking (OSM) for Class 12 answer sheet evaluation.

First large-scale use of On-Screen Marking

On-Screen Marking (OSM) means that answer sheets are evaluated digitally on a computer screen instead of physically on paper.

Prashant Jain, CEO of Oswaal Books, told the Times of India that this transition is one of the key reasons for the drop. He explained that any large system change can affect results in the first year.

According to him, OSM does not change the marking scheme itself. However, it changes the way papers are checked.

Under physical checking, examiners could tilt the paper, move closer to read faint writing, and quickly flip pages. On a screen, this flexibility is limited. Light handwriting, cramped answers, faint diagrams, and writing in margins can be harder to read digitally.

Jain said students in borderline score ranges may have been affected the most during this transition.

Another change linked to OSM is automated totalling. In earlier physical evaluation, small calculation mistakes or benefit-of-doubt at the final totalling stage sometimes helped students.

Now, with automated systems, these informal adjustments are reduced. This may have impacted some students’ final scores.

CBSE has not directly linked the drop in pass percentage to OSM. The board says the digital system was introduced to improve transparency, reduce human error, and make evaluation faster and more consistent.

Tougher Physics and Mathematics papers

Experts and school principals reported that this year’s Physics paper was more difficult than previous years. Certain sets of the Mathematics paper were also considered challenging.

When major subjects in the Science stream become tougher in the same year, it can affect the overall pass percentage. Science students form a large part of the total candidates.

Jain said that this increase in difficulty may have contributed to lower overall results.

Another important reason discussed is the continued shift towards competency-based questions under the National Education Policy (NEP) framework.

CBSE is moving away from simple memory-based questions. Instead, more questions now test reasoning, application, and understanding through case studies and problem-solving.

Experts believe this change encourages deeper learning. However, it may also be challenging for students who are used to traditional question patterns.

COVID-era learning impact

Jain also mentioned that some learning gaps from the COVID-19 period may still be affecting this batch of students.

He said this group was in Class 8 during 2020-21, when schools were closed or functioning online. Any learning loss during that period may still influence performance at the board level.

Student reactions and concerns

After the results were announced, some students expressed concern about their marks. Social media posts suggested that certain students felt their scores were lower than expected.

One user, Anurag Tyagi, wrote on X that thousands of students were disappointed and called for greater transparency in the rechecking process. Another user demanded manual re-evaluation of answer sheets.

Thousands of CBSE Class 12 students are feeling devastated after unexpected low marks. If on-screen copy checking is missing steps, diagrams, or lengthy answers because of speed-based evaluation, then this is not just a “technical process” — it directly impacts students’ careers,…

— Anurag Tyagi (@TheAnuragTyagi) May 13, 2026

CBSE has not issued any statement linking the drop in pass percentage directly to OSM. The board has maintained that the digital system aims to improve accuracy and fairness.

Education experts say schools may need to prepare students differently for board exams under digital evaluation systems.

Clear handwriting will become very important. Answers should be written in a structured way. Diagrams must be properly labelled. Step-wise presentation of answers can help students gain marks.

Experts believe that once schools, students, and evaluators become fully familiar with OSM, results may stabilise in the coming years.

Students can check their results in the following ways:

Official website: results.cbse.nic.in

DigiLocker

UMANG app

SMS services

Students should use only official platforms to avoid confusion.

The CBSE Class 12 results for 2026 show a drop in the overall pass percentage. While more than 15 lakh students cleared the exam, several factors appear to have influenced the decline.

These include the introduction of On-Screen Marking, tougher question papers in key subjects, competency-based questions, and possible learning gaps from earlier years.

Education experts expect the system to stabilise over time. For now, students are advised to focus on clear writing, structured answers, and understanding-based learning.

According to the Youth AI Aspirations & Adoption Report, AI is helping young people learn languages, create content, edit videos and find freelance work.

For decades, many young people in India's villages believed that a better future meant moving to a city. A stable job, higher income and career growth were often linked to urban centres. Today, however, that picture is beginning to change. With smartphones becoming common, internet access improving and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools becoming easier to use, many young people in rural India are finding new ways to earn money without leaving their hometowns. Some are now making between Rs 30,000 and Rs 50,000 a month by offering digital services, creating content and taking up freelance work online.

AI Becomes Part of Daily Life

The growing influence of AI in rural India is highlighted in the Youth AI Aspirations & Adoption Report by YouGraf.JanAI, which surveyed 3,005 rural young people.

According to the report, 55 per cent of respondents use AI almost every day, while 28 per cent use it occasionally. Only 17 per cent said they do not use AI at all.

The findings suggest that AI is no longer limited to large cities or technology professionals. Instead, it is increasingly becoming part of everyday life for young people living in villages and small towns.

Breaking Language Barriers

One of the biggest challenges faced by rural students has been access to quality learning resources, especially when much of the internet is available in English.

The report found that 46 per cent of respondents use AI for language translation. These tools help users understand English content, complete online forms and access educational material more easily.

Another 33 per cent use AI for writing support. This includes help with school assignments, resumes, job applications and other forms of communication.

For many students, AI is acting as a personal learning assistant that is available at any time through a mobile phone.

New Ways to Earn Online

While education remains the main use of AI, some young people are already turning these tools into a source of income.

One growing area is digital content creation. Rural youth are helping local businesses, coaching centres and shop owners create social media posts, advertisements and promotional content.

AI tools can assist with writing captions, generating ideas, designing graphics and preparing video scripts. Young freelancers often charge between ₹3,000 and ₹10,000 per client each month. With multiple clients, monthly earnings can quickly rise above ₹30,000.

Video editing is another popular opportunity. AI-powered editing tools make it easier to create professional-looking videos for YouTube creators, local businesses and social media pages. Depending on the project, creators can earn between ₹500 and ₹2,000 for a single video.

Freelancing and Content Creation Gain Popularity

Many rural youngsters are also exploring freelancing platforms to find writing, translation, research and content-related work.

AI helps them complete tasks faster by assisting with research, drafting and content planning. Some have also started their own YouTube channels, Instagram pages and online communities.

These creators use AI to generate content ideas, prepare scripts and design thumbnails. As their audiences grow, they can earn money through advertising, sponsorships and brand partnerships.

For many, this creates an additional source of income that was difficult to imagine a few years ago.

Awareness High, Income Use Still Limited

Despite the growing interest, the report shows that AI-based earning is still at an early stage.

Only 14 per cent of respondents currently use AI to generate income. Most continue to use it mainly for education and skill development rather than employment.

However, the interest in learning more is significant. Nine out of ten respondents said they would like to join a government-certified AI course. Around 61 per cent believe such certification could improve their employment opportunities.

This suggests that many young people view AI not as a passing trend but as a valuable career skill.

Expanding AI Access Beyond Cities

Several organisations are working to make AI education available in rural communities.

One such initiative is JanAI, a rural-focused artificial intelligence programme run by the Head Held High Foundation. Over the past year, the programme has reached more than 75,000 young people across 50 districts in 16 states.

The initiative focuses on basic AI literacy, practical training and digital awareness. Partnerships with local institutions and administrations aim to ensure that opportunities are not limited to urban areas.

The programme has set ambitious goals, including improving AI literacy among 50 million citizens and training two million students in AI-related skills by 2029.

Opportunity With Responsibility

Experts stress that AI alone does not guarantee success. Communication skills, creativity, discipline and continuous learning remain important.

AI can make work faster and easier, but people still need to understand clients, solve problems and deliver quality results.

As internet access expands and digital services become more common, demand for online skills is expected to rise. For many rural youth, AI is becoming more than just a technology tool. It is opening doors to learning, confidence and income opportunities that once seemed out of reach.

Age did not stop a 61-year-old woman from Punjab from achieving her school dream. Narendra Kaur, a resident of Sarhali village in Punjab's Jalandhar, has cleared the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class 10 examination in 2026. She scored 500 out of 650 marks, which is about 77%. Her result has become a source of hope for many people, especially women who could not study earlier in life.

Her background and early education dream

Narendra Kaur is a grandmother of two grandsons. She said that she had to leave her studies about 45 years ago. At the time of her marriage, higher education for girls was not widely encouraged in society. Many families expected girls to focus on household duties instead of continuing school.

Like many women of her generation, her education stopped early. However, her wish to study never ended. She carried this dream in her heart for decades.

आज 61 वर्ष की उम्र… pic.twitter.com/Z3qE8YJO61

— Satnam Singh Sandhu (@satnamsandhuchd) May 13, 2026

Returning to education through open schooling

Narendra Kaur decided to restart her education through the open system. She appeared for the exam from Shaheed Bhai Tara Singh Khalsa Senior Secondary (Open) School.

The open schooling system helped her complete her studies while managing her daily life. Education experts say that open schools are important for adults, women, and senior citizens who were unable to finish school earlier due to money problems, family duties, or social pressure.

— Daily Post Punjabi (@dailypostpunjab) May 14, 2026

For Narendra Kaur, this system gave her a second chance.

Strong family support

Narendra Kaur has always said that her family supported her dream. Her two sons are settled abroad. One lives in the United States, and the other lives in Canada, along with their families.

Even after becoming a grandmother, she received encouragement from her family to study again. Their support helped her focus on her preparation and exams.

She has expressed gratitude towards her family for not allowing her dream to fade away.

Result that inspired many

Narendra Kaur scored 500 marks out of 650 in the PSEB Class 10 board exams. This achievement has drawn attention across Punjab.

In a result season usually focused on toppers and high cut-off scores, her success has become one of the most inspiring stories of the year. Many people have praised her determination and courage.

Her result shows that education is not only about age or background. It is about effort and belief.

Plans for the future

Narendra Kaur does not want to stop here. She has said that she now plans to continue her studies. Her next goal is to complete Class 12. After that, she hopes to pursue a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree.

Her aim is clear. She wants to keep learning and move ahead step by step.

A message for society

Narendra Kaur’s journey reflects a larger reality. Many women in older generations had to stop their education early due to social expectations or family responsibilities. Their dreams remained unfinished for years.

Her success sends a strong message: learning can begin again at any age. It also shows how education systems like open schooling can help people complete their goals.

At a time when students across the country are waiting for board results and thinking about their future, her story gives a different lesson. It tells us that it is never too late to study, grow, and achieve.

Narendra Kaur’s achievement is not just about marks. It is about courage, hope, and determination. At 61 years old, she has passed her Class 10 exam with 77% marks and plans to continue her education further.

Her story is a reminder that dreams do not have an expiry date. With support, hard work, and belief, anyone can return to learning, no matter their age.

There's a lot of chatter and unhappiness among employees at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's biggest IT company. The company recently announced an average salary hike of 5%, but instead of celebrating, many employees are claiming their take-home pay has actually gone down. Some say their monthly salary has dropped by as much as ₹3,000. Even though the company announced an average 5% salary hike, many employees claim their in-hand (take-home) salary has decreased instead of increasing.

Appraisal or a pay cut? Employees are confused

According to TCS employees, the situation turned out to be the opposite of what they expected after the new salary revision was implemented from May 18. Employees thought the 5% average hike would improve their monthly income, but many found that their revised salary structure offered very little real benefit. Some employees have even alleged that their annual package shows a drop of ₹1,000 to ₹10,000. This situation has particularly affected employees who were placed in the B and C performance categories. They say that even after the appraisal, their financial situation has either remained the same or worsened.

Is the CTC the real game? Gratuity removal adds to the confusion

According to reports, the biggest reason for this whole controversy is the company's changed CTC structure. It is being said that TCS has now separated the gratuity component from the employees' "Cost to Company" (CTC). However, the company states that the gratuity benefit has not been discontinued but has been placed within an internal structure. This very change has become a source of confusion for the employees. Earlier, gratuity was included in the total CTC, but now it is not visible in the new structure. This has made many employees feel that their total salary has been reduced.

Dispute over variable pay, bonus linked to 'Work From Office'?

Employees have alleged cuts not only in their basic salary but also in their "variable pay". Some employees claim that the variable pay, which was previously given every month, is now being changed to a quarterly or annual payment. This has a direct impact on the monthly take-home salary. Not only that, some employees have also alleged that bonuses and performance pay are now being linked to compliance with "work-from-office" rules. This means that if office attendance is low, employees' incentives could be affected.

Good news for A+ employees, but others are unhappy

While employees with lower performance ratings seem dissatisfied, high-performing employees have benefited well from this appraisal cycle. Many employees with an A+ rating have reported receiving double-digit hikes. Employees in the A category also received a relatively better increase. But employees in the B and C categories say that the increase in their salary is very low compared to inflation and tax deductions.

Controversy comes amid pressure on the IT sector

This whole controversy has emerged at a time when the Indian IT industry is facing challenges like global economic pressure, reduced client spending, and project delays. Companies like Infosys, HCLTech, and Tech Mahindra are also taking a cautious approach to salary hikes. TCS has clarified that the new salary structure has been prepared in line with the "new labour code" and aims to secure employees' take-home salary and simplify tax savings. The company also reiterated that it will continue its tradition of giving annual salary hikes. But for now, a big question is echoing among the IT giant's over 5.84 lakh employees: "If we got an appraisal, why did our salary go down?"
