The incident took place in the Hastinapur area during the early hours of Friday. The victim, 32-year-old Atul Panwar, was initially believed to have died after being bitten by a snake while sleeping at home.

His wife, 30-year-old Damini Panwar, claimed she found him unconscious when she returned to the room early in the morning. She also told police she saw a snake on the bed and raised an alarm. The reptile was later killed by local residents.

Police investigation exposed the alleged conspiracy

The case took a different turn after investigators found a snakebite mark on Atul's right leg. His family expressed doubts over the incident and urged police to investigate further, according to a report by the Times of India.

According to Meerut Senior Superintendent of Police Avinash Pandey, Damini and Atul had married seven years ago and recently started a playschool. They had hired Tushar Kumar as the school's van driver, and police allege Damini later began an affair with him.

During the investigation, officers examined phone records and found frequent contact between Damini and Tushar, the TOI report added. Police also recovered photographs of a snake kept inside a box from Tushar's mobile phone, strengthening their suspicion.

Police say murder was planned for insurance money

Police alleged that Damini mixed sleeping pills into her husband's milk before he went to bed. After he became unconscious, she and Tushar allegedly released the poisonous snake onto the bed, where it bit Atul.

Investigators further claimed the pair had earlier tried to kill Atul by staging a road accident, but the attempt failed. They then allegedly planned the snake attack to make the death appear accidental.

Police said the main motive was to claim Atul's Rs 20 lakh insurance policy. Investigators also alleged that the two planned to marry after receiving the insurance money, with Tushar intending to divorce his wife.

Four arrested in the case

Apart from Damini and Tushar, police also arrested two snake charmers, identified as Sonu Kumar and Uday Kumar, for allegedly supplying the snake used in the crime.

An FIR has been registered under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 123 (causing hurt by means of poison or intoxication) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police said further investigation into the case is continuing.

Leopard attacks three people

According to officials, the incident began around 8:45 am when local residents informed forest volunteer Rakesh that a leopard had been spotted hiding in bushes in the town, reported Bhaskar English.

When Rakesh went to check the area, the leopard attacked him before running nearly 400 metres towards a nearby liquor shop.

Outside the shop, the animal attacked 40-year-old Fateh Lal Koli. It then rushed inside and attacked 25-year-old salesman Sanjay Gurjar.

Despite the sudden attack, Sanjay managed to escape and quickly locked the leopard inside the shop, preventing it from running back into the crowded market.

Forest team rescues the animal

A rescue team from Jaipur reached the spot around 2 pm and safely captured the leopard after a careful operation lasting nearly five hours.

The three injured men were taken to hospital. Officials said Rakesh was discharged after first aid, while Fateh Lal Koli and Sanjay Gurjar were referred to another hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, hundreds of curious residents gathered outside the shop after hearing about the unusual incident.

Who is Vijeta Dahiya

Vijeta Dahiya is a political researcher, author, filmmaker and content creator who was named one of the official spokespersons of the satirical Cockroach Janata Party (CJP).

According to the party's announcement and media reports, he has worked on political research and content development for several YouTube creators and has been linked to research and writing support for creator Dhruv Rathee.

Dahiya is an alumnus of Delhi Technological University (DTU). He has also worked in writing and filmmaking, and is the author of two books, Power of Universe and To Hell With That Job, both described as bestsellers in media reports.

He has written and directed the Haryanvi films Darare and Opri Parai. On X, Dahiya regularly shares views on politics, governance and current affairs.

The controversy began against the backdrop of a tense protest in Delhi. On Monday, CJP supporters marched towards Parliament demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in major examinations, including claims of question paper leaks and technical problems.

Delhi Police used tear gas and baton charges as protesters attempted to move towards Parliament. Police said 178 people were injured, including 118 police personnel. The force described the protesters' behaviour as "unruly, aggressive and violent".

The CJP, however, maintained that its supporters had faced police brutality. The protest movement also received attention after activist Sonam Wangchuk was taken to hospital following a 21-day hunger strike. He later said he would resume his hunger strike from the hospital after witnessing the treatment of protesting students.

On Tuesday, two CJP leaders met Union Health Minister JP Nadda after the government reached out to the group. The CJP said it submitted a letter outlining its demands.

Nadda confirmed the meeting and described the discussions as cordial. He said the proposal for talks had come from the protesters and urged them to end their sit-in and help restore normalcy.

Meanwhile, the political focus shifted to Congress on Tuesday, when Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra led a protest towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence.

They alleged that when her stitches were removed on May 9, they informed the doctor about her pain. However, they claimed they were told such symptoms were common after surgery.

As her condition failed to improve, the family sought treatment from local doctors and another hospital. They said doctors diagnosed an infection but could not identify its exact cause.

The family said doctors performed another surgery on June 27 to remove the mop and also operated on the damaged section of the intestine.

They further claimed Jaya has not fully recovered and may require another surgery in the future.

Family alleges heavy financial burden

Jaya's relatives said the incident has placed a huge emotional and financial burden on the family.

A senior police officer, according to The Indian Express, reportedly remarked that investigators had almost considered treating the AI chatbot as an accomplice because of the alleged extent of Kenneth's reliance on it.

The remark was not a suggestion that the AI tool could face criminal liability. Instead, it highlighted the unusual nature of the evidence being examined by investigators.

Police are trying to determine whether the chatbot was simply a source of general information or whether Kenneth allegedly used it in a way that directly supported his preparations for the crime.
