Robbers allegedly snatched cash and mobile phone

The victim told police that two men arrived on a motorcycle and suddenly blocked his way. The accused allegedly removed the key from his motorcycle to stop him from escaping. He further claimed that the robbers took away his mobile phone and ₹5,000 cash from his pocket before fleeing from the spot, according to a report by India Today.

After the robbery, the victim reportedly started walking towards his aunt’s house, which was located nearby.

Victim recognised accused and fought back

According to the victim, the same two men again came near him while he was walking on the road. This time, he recognised the accused and decided to confront them.

The man allegedly picked up a brick lying nearby and threw it from a distance towards the motorcycle. The brick reportedly hit the accused, causing one of them to lose balance and fall off the bike.

Soon after, a physical fight broke out between the victim and the two accused in the middle of the road.

Accused allegedly threatened victim with sharp weapon

During the scuffle, the accused allegedly pulled out a datar, a sharp-edged weapon commonly used in Punjab, and tried to threaten the victim.

The victim again threw a brick at the accused and reportedly injured them. However, despite being hurt, the robbers managed to escape from the spot while threatening the victim with the weapon.

The entire incident was recorded on nearby CCTV cameras. The footage later surfaced online and quickly spread across social media platforms.

Police begin investigation

Police officials said a case has been registered against the two accused based on the victim’s complaint. Officers have started an investigation and are trying to identify and arrest the robbers.

A domestic argument over a crate of mangoes worth Rs 850 reportedly turned violent in Pune, Maharashtra after a woman accused her husband, an IT engineer, of assaulting and abusing her during a heated fight at their home. According to police, the incident took place around 10:30 am on Sunday, May 24, at the couple’s residence in the city, according to a report by India Today. The woman later approached the police station and filed a complaint against her husband, following which an FIR was registered.

Argument allegedly started over online payment

Police officials said the woman had ordered a crate of mangoes from a fruit vendor located outside their housing society.

After placing the order, she reportedly sent the QR code payment link to her husband and asked him to make the payment for the mangoes.

However, according to police, the husband allegedly became angry and refused to pay the Rs 850 amount. This reportedly led to an argument between the couple inside the house.

Officials said the disagreement soon turned into a serious quarrel.

Woman alleges assault during fight

As mentioned in the complaint, the woman started recording the argument on her mobile phone during the dispute. During the altercation, the husband allegedly snatched the phone from her hand and assaulted her, causing an injury near her eyebrow.

The woman also alleged that her husband verbally abused her before leaving the house after the fight. Following the complaint, police sent the woman for medical examination and treatment.

FIR registered against husband

Based on the woman’s statement, Pune Police registered an FIR against the husband under Sections 118(1) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Section 118(1) relates to voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons or means, while Section 351(2) deals with criminal intimidation.

Police officials said further investigation into the matter is currently underway. Police have not released further details about the couple or whether any arrests have been made so far.

Despite the crash happening in broad daylight on one of Navi Mumbai’s most monitored roads, police have still not been able to identify or arrest the biker because CCTV cameras reportedly failed to clearly capture the motorcycle’s registration number.

Biker Allegedly Jumped Red Signal

Speaking from her hospital bed, Sandhya Jain said she was riding towards the NMMC head office in Belapur to meet a civic official when the accident happened around 4.39 pm. According to Jain, CCTV footage from cameras installed at the junction showed a biker wearing a maroon shirt speeding through the red signal before crashing directly into her scooty while her signal was green.

The impact threw her onto the road and left her unconscious.

Jain said the biker did not stop to help her after the accident. Instead, he allegedly picked up his motorcycle and quietly moved away from the spot before escaping.

Journalist Suffers Multiple Injuries

Doctors treating Jain said she suffered fractures in both hands, a broken nose, facial trauma and several other injuries.

The accident has left her bedridden for more than a week, while family members continue to demand stricter action and better surveillance systems in the city.

Jain is known locally for editing two magazines focused on women’s issues and social awareness.

Family Questions CCTV System

Her husband, Sandeep Kumar Jain, said it was shocking that the biker had still not been identified despite the road having several surveillance cameras, the TOI report added.

He said an FIR had been registered at the NRI police station against an unknown biker for rash and negligent driving, but investigators had failed to track the accused because the number plate was unclear in the CCTV footage.

The family questioned how such an important road stretch could have cameras that fail to record basic details needed in criminal investigations.

Police Say Number Plate Not Visible

Investigating officer Kiran Swar from NRI police station confirmed that officers had checked CCTV footage from the time of the crash. However, he said the motorcycle number plate could not be properly seen in the recordings, making identification difficult.

Police added that further investigation is continuing and efforts are being made to identify the biker through other clues available from nearby cameras.

Questions Raised Over Camera Quality

The incident has also sparked criticism about the quality and maintenance of CCTV cameras in Navi Mumbai.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Kailas Shinde said the police are the main users of the city’s CCTV network for traffic enforcement and crime monitoring. He added that if there were issues with camera quality, they should have been reported earlier.

He also confirmed that a private agency currently handles CCTV maintenance.

Social activist Madhu Shankar questioned the usefulness of such a large surveillance system if cameras cannot capture vehicle numbers even during daytime accidents.

Another social worker, Rajesh Singh of Ganga Sagar Foundation, said many junctions on Palm Beach Road already have cameras installed and suggested replacing weak systems with high-definition cameras and AI-supported technology for better identification.

Samsung Electronics has reached a major agreement with labour unions that could see employees in its semiconductor division receive average bonuses worth nearly $340,000 (about over Rs 3 crore) each. The deal has also helped the South Korean tech giant avoid a planned 18-day strike that threatened to affect global chip supplies.

According to reports by AFP and Bloomberg, the agreement was finalised after government-mediated discussions between Samsung management and labour unions.

The deal was later approved through a union vote, with more than 73 per cent of participating members supporting the proposal.

Under the agreement, employees working in Samsung’s semiconductor business will receive bonuses linked directly to the operating profits of the division.

The proposal includes bonuses equal to 10.5 per cent of the chip division’s operating profit, which will be paid in company shares. Workers will also receive an additional 1.5 per cent in cash payments.

According to company estimates quoted by AFP, the average payout could reach around 509 million won per employee, which is roughly $338,000 or more than Rs 3 crore.

Bloomberg reported that the figure could rise slightly higher to around 513 million won depending on the division’s final operating profits for 2026.

Yonhap News Agency separately reported that workers in Samsung’s memory chip business could receive nearly 600 million won each in some cases.

The huge bonus package comes as demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure continues to grow worldwide.

Samsung is one of the world’s largest makers of memory chips used in smartphones, laptops, cars and AI data centres that power platforms such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google Gemini.

As companies rapidly expand AI systems and cloud computing infrastructure, demand for high-performance memory chips has increased sharply.

Samsung’s semiconductor business has benefited heavily from this trend. Reports said the company’s chip division recorded a 49-fold jump in operating income during the previous quarter due to strong global demand for AI-related chips.

The company recently also became only the second Asian company after TSMC to cross a market valuation of $1 trillion.

The bonus package applies only to Samsung’s semiconductor division and not to all employees across the company.

Samsung estimates that around 78,000 workers are employed in the chip-making business.

Based on current projections, the company may spend nearly $26.5 billion on bonuses if the full payout estimate is achieved.

Earlier this year, Samsung disclosed in a company filing that its employees earned an average annual salary of around 158 million won in 2025, which is close to Rs 1 crore.

Strike Threat Pulled Back After Agreement

The approval of the bonus plan came just days before workers were expected to begin an 18-day strike.

According to industry estimates, memory chips account for nearly 35 per cent of South Korea’s exports, while Samsung itself contributes around 12.5 per cent to the country’s gross domestic product.

Samsung is not the only South Korean chipmaker rewarding employees after strong AI-driven growth.

Family Rushed Her to Hospital

The family immediately rushed the girl to Bangra Community Health Centre after her condition worsened. Doctors there referred her to Jhansi Medical College because of her serious condition.

Despite treatment, Rohini died during treatment at the medical college. Police later took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination.

The incident has triggered discussion in the village not only because of the sudden death but also due to the revelation that the girl was a minor.

Aadhaar Card Revealed Her Actual Age

After Rohini’s death, her grandfather Ramcharan initially told police and villagers that she was 18 years old. However, during official paperwork, police checked her Aadhaar card and found that she was only 13 years, 3 months and 26 days old at the time of her marriage, the Dainik Bhaskar report added.

Officials believe the family may not have revealed her actual age earlier due to fear of legal action over child marriage.

Police said no complaint has yet been filed by either side regarding the death.

Family members also could not clearly explain why the girl consumed poison. They told police that everything appeared normal before the incident.

Marriage Took Place Just 26 Days Ago

According to local residents, Rohini and her husband Rasiya had become friends some time ago. After their families learned about the friendship, both were married on April 30.

Rasiya, who is reportedly 18 years old, said Rohini was deeply affected after the death of her father around a year ago.

He claimed she often told him that she missed her father and remained emotionally disturbed because of the loss. Speaking to local officials, Rasiya himself admitted that Rohini was only 13 years old.

Police Investigation Underway

Police officials said they are waiting for the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death. Officers are also examining all circumstances surrounding the case, including the issue of child marriage.

Calls for stricter traffic enforcement

Road safety activists and traffic police have repeatedly stressed the importance of wearing helmets, following traffic rules and maintaining disciplined behaviour on public roads.

Social media users said strict enforcement is needed to reduce dangerous driving and improve commuter safety in Bengaluru.

Panic spread across Punjab’s Patiala district on Tuesday morning after the body of a young woman was found stuffed inside a large blue drum near the DCW overbridge in the Urban Estate area. The shocking discovery was made near a garbage dump close to the bridge. Police reached the spot soon after receiving the information and opened the drum in the presence of officials. Inside, they found the body of a young woman.

Body Found With Injury Marks

According to police officials, the woman appeared to be between 20 and 22 years old. Initial examination showed minor injury marks on her face, while traces of blood were also noticed on one of her hands.

The drum was blue in colour and tightly closed with a red lid. Police officers said the condition in which the body was found suggested that it had been dumped there deliberately.

Soon after the recovery, forensic experts were called to the scene to collect evidence from the area. The body was later shifted to the mortuary of Government Rajindra Hospital for further examination and identification.

Tattoos Help Police Identify Victim

During the investigation, police found two tattoos on the woman’s arms. One hand had “Neha” written in English, while the other had a heart-shaped tattoo mark.

Speaking about the case, Patiala police officer Gurpreet Singh said the police had received a call in the morning regarding a body inside a drum near the DCW flyover.

He said that after examining the tattoos and other details, police were able to identify the victim as Neha, a woman in her early twenties.

According to police, Neha was the daughter of Sant Lal. Her family originally belongs to Jaunpur district in Uttar Pradesh but is currently living in the Punjabi Bagh area of Patiala.

Family Had Already Filed Missing Complaint

Police said Neha had been missing for the past few days. Her family had earlier filed a missing person complaint with the police.

After the body was identified, officials contacted the family and informed them about the development. Legal formalities are now being completed with the help of the victim’s relatives.

Investigators are now trying to find out how Neha died and who was responsible for dumping her body inside the drum.

CCTV Footage Under Scanner

Police teams have started checking CCTV camera footage from nearby roads and areas around the flyover to trace the movement of the drum and identify those involved.

Officials believe the drum may have been transported to the spot using a vehicle during the early hours when the area was less crowded.

The exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report is received.

Police said all angles are being investigated and further action will follow based on forensic findings and evidence collected from the scene.

According to officials, ED officers had conducted searches at around 10 locations across Kerala under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). One of the locations included a rented residence linked to Pinarayi Vijayan in the state capital.

Why the ED Conducted the Searches

The searches are linked to the Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) money laundering case, which has triggered political controversy in Kerala over the past several months.

The petitioners had argued that no offence under money laundering laws was made out and that the ED did not have the authority to continue the probe.

According to the government, the move aims to promote tourism, strengthen local businesses and support rural economies across the state. Officials believe the initiative will also help people discover lesser-known tourist, eco-tourism and rural tourism destinations in Bihar.

Under the directive, all state government employees posted in Bihar must go on a two-day and two-night trip every three months with their families.

The trips will usually be planned around Fridays and Saturdays. During every visit, employees and officials must explore at least three tourist places located nearby and stay overnight in the area.

The government has made it clear that the time spent during these trips will be treated as official duty or “on duty” time.

The order also says that officers cannot travel to their home districts under the programme. Divisional and district-level officers must select tourism destinations located outside the districts where they are currently posted.

Senior officials, including district magistrates, senior deputy superintendents of police, divisional forest officers, superintendents of police and regional chief conservators of forests, will also have to follow the same rule.

The Bihar government has strictly directed officials not to conduct review meetings, inspections or any official administrative work during the tourism visits.

The order clearly states that officials must not operate from their official residences during the trip period. The travel is meant only for tourism, cultural experience and gathering local feedback.

Officials have been asked to spend time understanding local tourism facilities, culture, food and public experiences rather than carrying out government work.

After returning from the tour, all employees and officers will have to submit a detailed feedback report to the District Magistrate or their department.

The report must include photographs of the tourist places visited, details about local facilities and their personal experiences during the journey.

Each department will appoint a nodal officer to collect and compile these reports. The information will later be shared with the tourism, environment and forest, and art and culture departments to improve tourism infrastructure in different parts of Bihar.

The Bihar government is especially focusing on rural tourism and homestay culture through the scheme.

Officials have been encouraged to stay in local homes or homestays on a paid basis so they can experience local culture, food and hospitality closely. The government believes this will create more employment opportunities and strengthen the local economy in villages and small towns.

Authorities also hope the initiative will increase awareness about many tourism spots in Bihar that are still less explored.

Districts asked to improve tourism facilities

Since a large number of officials are expected to travel regularly under the programme, district administrations have been instructed to review accommodation and food arrangements in their areas.

District Magistrates have been asked to coordinate with government guest houses and private hotels to ensure proper facilities for visitors.

Information related to hotels, guest houses and tourism facilities will also be uploaded on official district websites to make travel planning easier for employees.

The Bihar government believes the initiative can help improve tourism visibility, increase local income and create better tourism infrastructure across the state in the coming years.

Doctors at SIMS Hospital said the victim remains under treatment and his condition was serious when he was admitted.

Woman allegedly left home with lover

The woman, who is said to be around 25 years old, reportedly lives in the Jakhloun area. Reports said she had been married for around two-and-a-half years and is also the mother of a child.

According to local reports, she allegedly left her in-laws’ house secretly with her lover while leaving her child at home. The two reportedly travelled nearly 22 kilometres and reached the Lalitpur bus stand, where they were allegedly planning to leave for another place.

Her family members later came to know about it. Soon after getting the information, her husband and other relatives, including her mother-in-law, followed them and finally caught them at the bus stand.

Mother-in-law drags lover from bus

Eyewitnesses and videos circulating online showed the woman’s mother-in-law pulling the alleged lover out of a bus by grabbing his collar. A heated argument quickly broke out between both sides.

Soon after, the mother-in-law removed her slipper and repeatedly hit the alleged lover in public. Reports claimed she struck him 51 times in around 140 seconds. A large crowd gathered at the bus stand while many people stood watching and recording videos on their phones.

During the fight, the woman reportedly tried to stop the assault on her lover. At that point, her husband allegedly grabbed her by the hair and beat her in public. Videos also showed her falling onto the road during the scuffle.

The chaos reportedly continued for almost an hour at the busy bus stand. Traffic and movement in the area were affected as curious onlookers surrounded the spot.

Many passers-by recorded videos of the incident, which later appeared on social media platforms and quickly went viral.

After receiving information about the disturbance, police officials reached the location and brought the woman, her alleged lover and her in-laws to the Civil Lines police outpost. Officials are currently questioning both sides about the incident.

Couple admitted to hospital in critical condition

According to police, as reported by Bhaskar English, the injured victims have been identified as Pushpendra Singh and his wife, Vandana Kanwar, residents of Tarupati Vihar. Harmada SHO Udaybhan said the couple was crossing the road when the speeding car hit their motorcycle.

Eyewitnesses and nearby residents immediately rushed towards the injured couple and tried to help before police teams arrived at the spot.

Police later shifted both victims to CKS Hospital for treatment.

According to BJP worker Gajendra Singh, both Pushpendra Singh and Vandana Kanwar suffered multiple fractures in the crash and are currently admitted to the ICU.

Doctors are continuing treatment as the couple remains in serious condition.

Murder case registered against accused

Police have registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to murder. The accused Deepak is a resident of Mukundpur in the Bhalswa Dairy area of Delhi.

Police said he studied till Class 12 and worked as a van driver for a private school.

Investigators are also checking whether any family member knew about the crime earlier or helped hide evidence after the murder. Statements of family members, neighbours and other people connected to the case are currently being recorded.

CCTV footage shows attacker entering store

According to reports, the incident took place inside a near-empty supermarket where Meghnaben was present at the counter. The viral CCTV footage allegedly shows a person wearing animal-print track pants and a grey jacket entering the store with his face covered.

A few moments later, the suspect allegedly puts his hand inside his pocket, pulls out a gun and opens fire at close range. The woman collapses after being shot. The attacker is then seen climbing over the counter and allegedly firing again before fleeing from the supermarket.

Jyoti and group of men assaulted Aarti

Police have identified the accused as Jyoti Balmik, her husband Jeetu Pal, Jyoti’s brother and another man. Based on Aarti Prajapati’s complaint, Dehat police have registered an FIR against four accused persons and started an investigation.

Meanwhile, Aarti’s father Hargyan Prajapati has made serious allegations against Aarti’s partner Nandu Rathore. He claimed that Nandu was behind the attack and had planned it with the help of neighbours.

According to Hargyan Prajapati, Aarti and Nandu had been living separately for some time due to ongoing disputes between them. He alleged that Nandu had been threatening Aarti for the past 15 days, because of which she had stopped stepping out of the house.

He further claimed that Nandu allegedly gave alcohol to the attackers and encouraged them to assault Aarti.

'Aarti, a second partner'

Family members said Aarti was Nandu Rathore’s second partner. Nandu was reportedly already married before he came into a relationship with Aarti a few years ago. Later, the two began living together in a separate house as husband and wife and also have a daughter together.

However, relations between them reportedly worsened in recent months and they separated. Both sides had earlier filed complaints against each other at the Superintendent of Police office. Police records also show that cross FIRs had already been registered between the two parties in the past.

Dehat police station in-charge Vikas Yadav said police are examining the CCTV footage and statements of the victim, the Dainik Bhaskar report added. He added that more names could be included in the FIR if further evidence emerges during the investigation.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and action will be taken based on available evidence and witness statements.
