Byrasandra lake in Bengaluru on the verge of extinction

Byrasandra lake in Bengaluru seems like it has lost the fight of survival and might come to a dry end soon. Dying lakes aren't new to the city

Bengaluru: Byrasandra lake is one of the very few water bodies left in Bengaluru. This 10.2-acre lake may disappear soon as there is hardly any water left. Several activists and residents have urged the concerned officials to help them in the restoration of the lake, which is located in Bengaluru's Jayanagar.

According to reports, in 2018, the local corporator took the initiative to restore this lake, but the efforts died soon. It has been a year now and there has been no restoration activity. Byrasandra lake was home to hundreds of migratory birds and aquatic creatures. But, as the water level dropped, flora and fauna have begun to disappear.
