Nutrition coach has been having a love affair with green tea and it just got very serious. The dietician shares his reason why you need to fall in love with it and how to drink it the proper way.
Why should you drink green tea?
Green tea is made from unfermented leaves and hence it contains the highest concentration of powerful antioxidants called polyphenols, unlike other teas that are fermented.
Green tea also loves your brain, it promotes alpha wave thinking or more relaxed thinking. So swapping your normal chai at work is going to do wonders to your brain activity and productivity at work.
It also contains EGCG which is one of the only antioxidants that can cross the eye barrier into the lens area. So since we use our eyes so much with technology, how about calming your eyes too?
What ingredients should never be added to green tea?
Never add sugar to your green tea. Try honey instead. Sugar is rich in calories and won’t help you lose weight.
You see, 3 cups of normal tea a day has 2 teaspoons of sugar. That’s like 6 teaspoons of sugar per day or 180 teaspoons per month and about 4.5 liters of milk per month amounting to a gazillion calories from that chai alone and 6 kilos weight gain a year.
Also, never add milk to your green tea. Milk may decrease the function of the antioxidants once they enter your system.
How to make green tea?

Cold Green Tea : Fill a bottle and chuck a green tea bag in and leave it to cold steep. You can switch up the taste by trying infused flavors like strawberry, blue berry, peach and Jasmine.
