The two time MLA from Vijaynagar, M Krishnappa, says he has no competition and will emerge as the winner in the upcoming Karnataka elections. Although the Congress faced a humiliating defeat in BBMP election as it lost six wards out of eight, Minister Krishnappa says he has done enough to impress voters and the BBMP election result will not have any bearing on the assembly elections in Vijayanagar. BJP's Ravindra, who also is a Vokkaliga, says the voters are not happy with Krishnappa and alleged that from the last ten years the sitting MLA has done nothing for the constituency. He said the slum dwellers are neglected by Congress and hence they will vote for him this time instead. He also alleged that Krishnappa defamed him by saying the BJP candidate had sold himself out for money and he will also file a case in this regard. The voters of Vijayanagar feel that from last ten years only BJP and Congress have been active in the constituency and JDS has no base here.
