Jayanagar Bypoll: Congress candidate Sowmya Reddy's supporters allegedly thrashed

Congress candidate and former home minister Ramalinga Reddy's daughter Somwya Reddy's supporters were allegedly beaten up black and blue for campaigning in Sarakki in Jayanagar assembly segment of Bengaluru

 Supporters of Somwya Reddy, Congress candidate in the Jayanagar Bypoll in Bengaluru, were beaten up black and blue allegedly by rival party members on Saturday midnight (June 9). One of the supporters, Pavan, who was heading home after the election campaign, was stopped near Sarakki and reportedly thrashed. On seeing Pavan getting beaten up, another supporter went to his rescue and he too was not spared. Soon, crowd gathered and police resorted to lathi charge to disperse the mob. The supporters of Reddy also allege police brutality and claim that JP Nagar Police Inspector Hitendra along with his team who had come to quell the mob, reportedly targeted only Reddy's supporters and did not do anything to local corporator's supporters who were responsible for the fiasco
