Gardeners beautifying Bengaluru pushed into debts by Karnataka government

Horticulture Contractor Association President Chitra Priya spoke to Asianet Newsable and said that the association maintains over 1000 parks and Bengaluru municipality never pays on time.

Bengaluru, known as the garden city has a rather shocking story to it as many gardeners and contractors working for years have not received their payments. Horticulture Contractor Association President Chitra Priya spoke to Asianet Newsable and said that the association maintains over 1000 parks and Bengaluru municipality never pays on time. As a contractor, Chirta Priya himself is ending up paying Rs 2 lakh a month as interest for one crore worth development work. The payment from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is pending for the last one year. He also cautioned that if the same continues, he too would end up committing suicide like two civil contractors who were denied payment by BBMP.
