BJP MLA from Vijayapura and former union minister Basana Gowda Patil courted controversy after he urged corporators to work for Hindus. "I had asked Muslims not to vote for me before the elections," said Basana. He further said that he had asked Muslims who wear the skull cap and burkhas to not stand before him.
