Bengaluru father-son duo arrested for smuggling sandalwood

Bengaluru: Nine kilos of sandalwood were seized from two persons in Bengaluru. The accused Syed Riyaz, 49, and his son Sher Ali, 28, from Kattigenahalli, were arrested. Rs 35 lakh cash and a half kg of gold was also seized from the duo. According to the police, the father-son duo was into smuggling sandalwood since 2010. The duo is from Kattigenahalli on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Devraj and DCP Abdul Ahad from Whitefield were involved in tracking down the two and arresting them. Also, more than 200 police officials were also involved in the search operations.
