Bengaluru: 98% employees in Toyota Kirloskar company in the city are Kannadigas

There are 6,717 Kannadigas in Toyota Kirloskar amounting to 98% of the total employees, said minister George.

Bengaluru: At least 98% of the employees in one of the major car manufacturing companies Toyota Kirloskar in Bengaluru are Kannadigas, said Large and Medium Industries Minister KJ George.

This was in reply to a question posed by BJP member M Chandrappa during question and answer session in Vidhan Sabha.

Dr Sarojini Mahishi report has been implemented. There are 6,717 Kannadigas in the company amounting to 98% of the total employees, said minister George.

In the A group there are 38, in the B group there are 766, the C group has 1088 and the D group has 4825 Kannadigas working in Toyota Kirloskar company.

The company has upped its manufacturing in two stages. The first phase work began on December 24, 1999 and the second phase of work started on December 21, 2010. The company is yet to pay a tax of Rs 3,733 crore from the first phase of manufacturing. It has time till June 2019 to make this payment.

The company also has to pay a tax of Rs 909 crore from the second phase of manufacturing. However, it has 10 years to pay this tax amount.
