'It's a mockery when political parties promise to strengthen the Lokayukta': Santosh Hegde

Former Lokayukta, Justice Santosh Hegde, said that the strengthening of the Lokayukta in the poll manifestos of all the parties (ahead of Karnataka Elections 2018) is nothing but a farce. He said that the Yeddyurappa government did not implement the recommendations of the mining report that he had submitted in 2011. And when Congress came into power, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah tried to strip the powers of Lokayukta and formed the Anti-Corruption Bureau which was under the control of the state government.
