Delhi: Delhi Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw promoted the importance of cleanliness and hygiene by launching 'Swachhata Pakhwada' at Delhi New Railway Station. Vaishnaw was earlier seen with passengers on a train, listening to problems, interacting with the public, and talking to train drivers. On Friday, he was seen riding a floor mopping car in Delhi's New Railway Station platform. The passengers present at the platform were surprised to see this particular act of the minister.

Vaishnav rode the floor cleaning car on the launch of the 'Swachhata Pakhwada' at Delhi New Railway Station, the cleanliness drive of the India Railways. Officials, including the GM of Northern Railway and DRM of Delhi division, were also present. 'Swachhata Pakhwada' is celebrated by Indian Railways every year. This year as well, it was started by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw from New Delhi Station.

Vaishnav reached the New Delhi station early morning to check the mechanised cleaning process. Later he rode the cleaning car on platform No 1. He even interacted with the passengers about cleanliness and more.

The passengers appeared to be pleased with the station's cleanliness. The Indian Railways is commemorating Swachhata Pakhwara, according to a tweet. The minister also unveiled a new food plaza for travellers on the Ajmeri Gate side of New Delhi Railway Station, which was developed by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC).
