Kodakara hawala case: Kerala BJP chief K Surendran to skip SIT probe
The Kerala BJP unit chief K Surendran has said that he will not appear before the Special Investigation Team pertaining to the Kodakara Hawala case. The leader said he had programs lined up hence won't be appearing before the probing agency.
FollowIn response to the Special Investigation Team notice to Kerala BJP chief K Surendran in connection with Kodakara hawala case, the BJP leader will skip the probe as he has other programs lined up.
"I got the notice to appear as a witness only on Friday. I have not decided on appearing on Tuesday and it is not legally mandatory to appear on the very same day as was sought. I can make it some other day also," the leader was quoted as per reports.
The leader sees conspiracy against him in this connection and accused the left government of carrying out a political vendetta by letting such agencies against him. He said that he is not afraid of facing any probing agency.
As per reports just few days before the election, Rs 3.5 crore money from Bengaluru to Kozhikode was being transported and the car was intercepted and Rs 25 lakh was looted. While the police claim the money was hawala and was for election purpose, the people transporting the cash, Shamjeer Shamsudeen, Dharmaraj and Sunil Kumar claim that the amount was for business purpose and also approached Thrissur court to direct the police to release the confiscated money.
Surendran's name was dragged into the case as Dharmaraj repeatedly called Surednran's son on his mobile on the same day and hence notice was issued to know Surendran's connection.
The police have arrested 21 members in this connection so far.
