'I will make my son a soldier': Widow of martyred soldier Kashiray Bammanalli

Recent Pulwama martyr Kashiray Bammanalli's widow Sangeetha has vowed to make her four-year-old son Bhagath Singh a soldier like his father. Sangeeta's statement came during the funeral of her soldier husband on Sunday.

The Karnataka state government on Sunday ensured that the martyred soldier of Pulwama, 37-year-old Kashiray Bammanalli is laid to rest with full honors.

The family of the braveheart was present and watched the government program. Sangeetha, the widow of Havildar Bammanalli, six-year-old daughter Prithvi, four-year-old Bhagath Singh, his parents and few relatives had gathered.

Feeling proud of her husband's sacrifice for the nation, Sangeetha said, "I will now make my four-year-old son Bhagath Singh also a soldier in future."

The last rites were held at Ukkal of Bagewadi Taluk of Vijayapura District in Karnataka State.

On July 1 at 12.25 am, Army launched 'Hanjan' a cordon and search operation to flush out hiding terrorists at Hanjin Rajpora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama as lives of civilians were at stake.

After managing to save all the civilians, the terrorists were given the option to surrender but taking advantage of the darkness, militants opened fire and the Army retaliated. In the process Havildar Bammanalli received a shot in the chest and was rushed to hospital, meanwhile the remaining soldiers gunned down five militants from LeT, seized the arms and documents from the spot.

Havildar who was under emergency care at a Military hospital succumbed to injuries.
