Delhi: 6-year-old girl raped, in critical condition; accused captured on CCTV

A six-year-old girl was reportedly raped by a man in his early twenties in the national capital's Ranjit Nagar neighbourhood on Friday. The survivor, who is in critical condition, is being treated at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. The incident occurred while the girl was playing outside her house, and the accused reportedly enticed her, brought her to a remote location, and forced himself on her. According to reports, the girl's relatives reported that she was bleeding when she returned home. A CCTV video of the accused and the youngster has surfaced, showing the girl following the accused from a market. The survivor's father works part-time.
The police have opened an investigation, which includes elements of the legislation against child sexual assault. The Delhi Women's Commission has also submitted a letter to the police requesting that stringent action be taken in the situation. The Commission also demanded a copy of the FIR registered, details of the accused and detailed action taken report in the matter. The accused has not yet been identified.
This comes only days after a guy reportedly raped a Nepalese national in southeast Delhi's Amar Colony neighbourhood on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the Greater Kailash police station got information about a sexual attack on a lady by someone she knew. A senior police officer told PTI that a case under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code based on the complaint, her counselling report, and existing circumstances. It came only days after a 15-year-old girl was reportedly raped by her cousin at her home in Kotla Mubarakpur, South Delhi. The accused has been taken into custody.
