Frustrated with his antics and non-cooperation, BBMP corporators and MLAs decided to shunt BBMP Commissioner BH Anil Kumar and managed to achieve it.

Anil Kumar who was said to have differences with the mayor and a number of BBMP officials was replaced by IAS officer and principal secretary Gaurav Gupta after a recent controversy involving the temple bell sound, according to sources.

Anil Kumar had allegedly sent his subordinates to ask Maramma temple authorities to stop the sound of the temple bell.

However, Gaurav Gupta who is also chairman for Hubballi-Dharwad Smart City, said, "I have not yet received any orders from the chief minister on the development. I am in Hubballi now."

Gaurav Gupta is said to be minister R Ashoka's trusted officer and it had been reported that he was the possible replacement for Manjunath Prasad when he headed the BBMP. After Prasad was moved to the Revenue department as principal secretary, it was Anil Kumar who surprised everyone by becoming the BBMP commissioner.

A section of corporators were against the commissioner as they never had the opportunity to meet him on time as he was usually in the Malleshwaram office.

However, the news does not come as a shock to many as it had been reported earlier that Kumar may be shunted out.
