Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the nation as it observes the 75th Independence Day. 

PM Modi took to Twitter to say, "Greetings to you all on Independence Day. Wishing you all a very Happy 75th Independence Day. May this year of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ infuse new energy and consciousness among the citizens. Jai Hind!"

The Prime Minister will be delivering the customary address to the nation at 7:30 AM from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

Independence Day at the Red Fort will be unlike other years

A flower petal shower over the ramparts of the Red Fort by two Indian Air Force Mi-14 1V choppers in Amrut formation, a separate block for Corona warriors, and the presence of 32 Olympic winners would be highlights of this year's Independence Day. 

In a first, the IAF's two choppers will be showering flower petals in Amrut formation. While the first helicopter will be piloted by Wing Commander Baldev Singh Bisht, the controls of the other will be with Wing Commander Nikhil Mehrotra.

Thirty-two Olympic winners, including India's first-ever Gold Medallist in track and field, Subedar Neeraj Chopra, along with two Sports Authority of India officials, have been invited to participate in the celebrations at the Red Fort. Read more
