Vaishali S Hiwase, the officer now tasked with constructing an India-China border road

<p>Vaishali S Hiwase&nbsp;has become the first lady officer to take over as officer commanding of a Road Construction Company that is responsible to provide connectivity of an India China border road.<br />&nbsp;</p><p>"With two air maintained detachments located at 10000 ft and above the alignment of the road is going through some formidable passes and treacherous terrain of hard rock with vertical cliffs," an official said.</p>

<p>Vaishali hails from Wardha in Maharastra.<br />&nbsp;</p><p>After successfully completing a demanding tenure in Kargil, the lady officer&nbsp;has taken over the command&nbsp;to undertake this challenge of cutting through the rocks, he said.<br />&nbsp;</p><p>"This is a humble beginning by the BRO that&nbsp;will usher a new era of women empowerment that will see women officers taking over most arduous tasks," the officer added.</p>
